    Regina

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: American Eskimo Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (long coat). Regina is a beautiful, happy little dog who is active and loves the company of other dogs. She also loves her toys and her bed. Because she is so shy with people, Regina is still working on being leashed up to go for walks. But when she's able to do so, she enjoys hitting the trails with Dogtown caregivers and regular volunteers. Regina was born in 2014. She arrived at Best Friends somewhat unsocialized and remains skittish of new people and situations. But she has come a long way at the Sanctuary and is slowly learning to trust people. She's also making progress on housetraining and riding in a car.

Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (medium coat). Meet SUNNY of Orlando, FL....... Sunny came to Eskie Rescuers from an over crowded shelter in SC where his due out date was rapidly ticking closer. He is estimated to be about 3 years old, and he's a big boy, at 48 pounds. He's either a larger standard Eskie or could be he has a Sammie for a mommy or daddy. He is very cute! He is very sweet and aptly for his sunny personality and stable temperament. He is good with other dogs. Sunny will be arriving in Florida soon. If you think you would like to give this wonderful young boy his forever home, please complete our online adoption application at www.eskierescuers.org. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Peanut of Cl...

    Breed: American Eskimo Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (medium coat). ADOPTION PENDING ON PEANUT Meet Peanut of Clermont, Florida...... Peanut is young, wild, and full of energy. He is a great little guy, playful and an absolute sweetheart, but he can also be a handful. Without an owner who can provide leadership and structure, Peanut will easily take control of your home. He needs a forever home that understands the breed and is willing to commit the time and energy to work with him, continue to socialize him and train him. Peanut came to us poorly socialized. He can be protective of his home (particularly the front door) and he is fearful of strangers and strange dogs. He is reactive to fast or sudden movements or sounds. Once he is introduced to people or gets to know you, he is fine, but that initial meeting sometimes scares him and then he reacts by barking and jumping. He needs calm, consistent positive re-enforcement training and leadership to help him overcome this fear. A not too crazy home with limited to moderate activity and company would be ideal. But Peanut loves to be active and he has QUITE a bit of energy, so an owner who enjoys running, hiking or water sports - and wants a companion to share this with - would find Peanut to be a willing participant. Peanut gets along very well with other dogs his size or larger, and enjoys playing with them. In his foster home, he quickly understood his place in the pack, and he and the alpha female love to play together. We recommend his forever home have another dog for him to play with or he could get into mischief. Peanut has a pretty high prey drive, so no cats, small dogs or birds. In his previous home he was teased by the neighbor kids, which certainly contributed to his fear of strangers and unpredictability, so we don't recommend a home with small children. While he likes all adults, he seems to prefer women. Peanut LOVES the water and enjoys swimming in a pool, which is also great for releasing some of his young and exuberant energy. He needs a fenced back yard where he could run around and do zoomies, as well as on owner committed to daily leash walks to work on his "outside the home" socialization skills. If you're up for the energetic challenge of Peanut, you won't be sorry! He is a love bug and adores sleeping next to you on the sofa or in bed at night. He is super sweet, but he also needs some time and an effort. If you have any questions about Peanut, please email dyan@eskierescuers.org. If you think you are his perfect forever home, please complete our online adoption application at www.eskierescuers.org. Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (medium coat). Meet Niko of Venice, FL You couldn't ask for a nicer companion than Neko. He is super affectionate and loves to be petted, cuddled and receive belly rubs. He says, "More, please!" He is adorable and will make some lucky person a great friend. He has really blossomed in his foster home and being around other dogs, and his foster thinks he would enjoy a forever home with other dogs to play with. He is also good with cats and kids. Neko came to us quite overweight, but has lost 6 of the 10 pounds he needed to lose, and he can now jump out of the car and land on his feet (instead of splatting on the ground.....YAY!!). He enjoys outings, particulalry the beach, and likes to be with his family. Neko is about 10 years old and weighs 29 pounds. He is a wonderful boy - don't pass him by or think he is too old. He has plenty of spunk, energy and love left to give. If you think you might like to give Neko his forever home, please complete our online adoption application at www.eskierescueers.org. Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog. Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization or individual. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. Meet Skeeter of GA Little Miss Skeeter is a love bug looking for a lap to call her own. Her owner recently passed and she was the apple of their eye. Skeeter is an 11yr old female, a tiny 12lbs and would be content being by your side all day or in your lap. She is good with cats, a bit jealous of other dogs and would need to be feed separately, if their are other dogs in the house, she guards her food. She also is deaf but that has not been an issue. A kind friend is holding her for now and has other dogs. It took a few days but Skeeter is now accepting of those dogs. She is spayed, her teeth are in good shape but her shots will need to be updated. If you are interested in helping Miss Skeeter find her happily ever after, please email Valeriecomp1@gmail.com. This is a courtesy post please use the contact information provided in the listing.

    Frosty of Sp...

    Breed: American Eskimo Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog (medium coat). Frosty from MN is doing very well adjusting to becoming Frosty of FL. ❤ He is a sweet, loving 6 year old little guy who sure loves his people and will quickly become your "white shadow". Frosty is content to sit or lay by you as long as you'd like to pet and love on him, but when you are done he is just as happy to find a place to lay on the floor and just be close by. He is rather submissive and will offer you his belly on a regular basis. When we picked him up at the airport, while he was happy to be let out of his crate and get a chance to potty, he did not appear overly stressed or frantic and after some loving quickly fell asleep next to me during the car ride home. Introductions to our dog went very smoothly and we had a peaceful first night sleep with both of the fur babies on or close to our bed. That says a lot about Frosty. He has proven to be a pretty adaptable guy He is getting along well with his 14 year old Yorkie foster brother. We had no problems introducing a second male into the household and although I can't say they have become best buddies yet they definitely have "each other's backs" while chasing or barking at squirrels and other disturbances near the pool enclosure. Frosty will occasionally try to be assertive (not aggressive) when it comes to attention, treats, toys and meals but is easily correctable and will back off when told. He knows he has to share and wait his turn, he just needs to be reminded. As far as change of location/climate: Frosty is doing well adjusting to his new surroundings. He definitely prefers the A/C and would rather be inside than out. He also seems to prefer the cooler wood floors rather than a rug or the furniture. He is still getting accustomed to the almost daily sounds of lawn mowers, trimmers, etc. and like all Eskies will alert you to any unusual sight or sound. "No" and "come" work best to get him to settle at those times. I think he now understands screens as he didn't "see" them a couple of times when excited and bounced off them. The pool doesn't seem to phase him and thankfully he doesn't try to drink out of it. We are still helping him understand that the screen enclosure is not REALLY outside when it comes to going potty . We have been no accidents in the house, but he has pooped on the lanai a couple of times. Last two occasions I saw it happening, yelled, he stopped and I rushed him out the door where he finished. So he's learning. Poor guy.... it's like "but I can see and smell the grass" . Frosty seems to love everyone. We had a lot of company here one weekend and he did well with both kids and adults. Of course everyone is first greeted by the typical protective"ferocious" yap that sounds like he's going to rip your ankles apart but after everyone says hello he settles quickly and is happy to accept all the loving anyone is willing to give him. ❤ Frosty has had some health issues in the past but he is now happy and healthy. His IBS is in complete control with one pill a day that he eagerly takes each morning with a piece of cheese and a controlled diet. His coat is full and soft and fluffy. Frosty loves going on car rides. He would enjoy a home where his owners are home all or most of the time, as he is very much a people dog. Frosty is pretty vocal on occasion (especially when you first leave him alone), so he is not recommended for an apartment or any living situation with close neighbors who might object. Frosty is an explorer and left to his own devices can get into mischief. Garbage cans need to be closed or out of reach, and no food left unattended on tables, because given the chance, he will check it out . He is crate trained and we usually put him in his crate when we are going out, to limit his "exploration". With those things noted and avoided he has been a fun little house guest and we are sure someone will fall in love with him and give him a furever home soon. I could probably go on more but I think you have enough to go on. He is surely a loveable cutie when he can't get himself in trouble ❤❤❤ Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Posted Breed: American Eskimo Dog. Adoption Fee: 40.00. I'm Shawn and I'm a full blooded American Eskimo dog. I am 10 years old, but don't let that fool you - I am full of life and anxious to play! True to the breed, I am highly intelligent (how else could I be writing this?). I have been living with several other dogs, so I know how to get along well with others. I'm strikingly good-looking (if I do say so myself) - I know you'll agree! I was very well taken care of by my owner, so I'm in good health, am neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on all my vaccinations. I'm just ready and waiting for you to come pick me up, take me home and spoil me rotten! To get this started, you can give the folks at the shelter a call at 828-837-2304 or email them at vrhsinquiries@gmail.com. They will vouch for everything I've told you, and can answer any questions you may have about how to make me yours!
