Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Donation/Homecheck/Application REQ'D Hi Everyone, I'm Diamond. At only one year old, I found myself without a home. The angels at Barks of Love found me dining at the back entrance of Jack in the Box. I happily jumped into the car of my foster mom who soon learned that I had little puppies in my belly. As soon as my babies were born, everyone marveled at how nurturing and sweet I am as a mom. They weren't that surprised though because they say I am a very loving and snuggly girl. Since then my 9 puppies have all been adopted and now I'm two years old and still waiting for my forever home. I quickly and nicely adapt to new people and situations. My foster family says that I'm very trusting, playful, and live to give kisses. You know what they say, "Diamonds are a girl's (or guy's) best friend." Treat me to a Jack in the Box and I will repay you in an abundance of love and kisses. Fill out an application to bring me home and I will be the brightest diamond in your life. Love, Diamond Your adoption donation includes: Vet Evaluation Microchip Implantation Flea Treatment Fecal Exam Spay/Neuter* Appropriate Vaccinations (based on age) Adoption Donations: Puppies: $400 (up to 7 months of age) Young Dogs: $300 (7 months up to 1 year of age) Adult Dogs: $200 (1 yr of age and older) For more information, please contact: adopt@barksoflove.org or visit www.barksoflove.org **Donations are Tax-Deductible**

More About American Pit Bull Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Donation/Homecheck/Application REQ'D Jackson Hello! My name is Jackson and I'm just one year old! I'm looking for my forever family. My foster mom tells me I'm the world's friendliest dog, whatever that means. I had a pretty rough start... My foster mom found me in a big black trash bag on the side of some railroad tracks. My mouth was taped shut and my legs taped together. They just left me for dead. I was so relieved when my foster mom ripped that bag open and brought me home. Despite the betrayal, I love everyone I meet! I really love kids, but I am still learning some manners so a home with older children (if any) would be best. I also love other dogs! I'm living with 2 dogs right now and we play all day long. Any doggy siblings should be easygoing and tolerant. I also live with a big fluffy cat! Sometimes I chase him, but I would never hurt him. I love to cuddle, hike, eat, explore, chew, run, pick out toys at the store, and make new friends (furry and furless). I'm just looking for a family to love and protect in exchange for treats and belly rubs. Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Donation/Homecheck/Application REQ'D Hello! I'm Hope! I'm a 10 year old Chihuahua who was pulled from the shelter on my last day before euthanization. I was scheduled to be put down due to heart and lung disease as well as a slew of other medical problems. After being pulled and taken to the vet he theorized I was misdiagnosed and my illness was treatable! My bronchial disease can't be cured, but if I take my medication I'm okay! I stayed with my vet for a few weeks and he took such good care of me that I moved into foster care. Now I'm looking to go into my forever home, will you adopt me? Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Donation/Homecheck/Application REQ'D Hi Everyone, I'm Franklin, a pocket-sized Chihuahua, weighing in at seven mighty pounds. I may be small, but I have a big personality. I'm a nine year old boy, but I still look like a wee puppy. I'm housebroken, and love going out for walks with my people. While I'm Mr. Independent, I also love to be near my people, and try to keep them in my line of vision at all times. Since I'm such a small boy with a big personality, my ideal home would be an adult-only, quiet, and loving home. The lovely folks at Barks of Love are not sure how I am with other dogs and cats yet, but as long as they're calm and well-behaved, I should be fine with furblings. To be Frank(lin), I'm an amazing dog. Please consider filling out an application to bring me into your family. I can't wait to meet you! Adoption Donation/Homecheck/Application REQ'D Pit Mix Beautiful Piper has chocolate brown eyes and a loving spirit, but no family of her own. It is hard to believe that anyone could abandon a dog as beautiful and charismatic as Piper. However, this happy girl realizes this is all in her past and is now looking for a new home to call her own. Piper is a pit bull mix born approx 12/21/2013. She enjoys playing fetch, long walks, and even a well paced run, if it's not too warm. She walks great on a leash and is a strong girl.
