Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Hi, I'm Bellamy and I am THE HAPPIEST dog in the world. Do you like to wake up slowly to smooshy-faced kisses over a cup of coffee and Good Morning, America? If so, I'm your man! I'm quite a snuggler and love to give big huge Pit Bull hugs. I've never met a stranger. I'm also great at entertaining you while I entertain myself. Foster mom just loves when I run zoomies up and down the stairs tossing my toys to myself. I completed a Canine Good Citizen class with my foster mom and got a certificate! It was fun and I love to focus on my human and show you what I can do. I've been through some rough times and at one point broke my elbow (vets say it was repeatedly) and it has grown back wrong. It has been fully evaluated, but vets think I'm not in pain and that nothing should be done to correct my occasional limp. It does not affect my ability to run, jump and play. I'm neutral with other dogs when I'm on leash, but I can get a little overly excited sometimes, so foster mom thinks it would be best if I was the only dog in the home. If you would like to meet me, please complete an online Adoption Application at www.outpaws.org/adopt.

More About American Pit Bull Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

She's incredibly fun and loves to play with all dogs. She's good with dogs and cats and loves to play as much as possible. She loves walks, is great on a leash and moves very fast. She'd make an excellent running partner. She is a little over a year and still has many puppy like curiosities. Sailor is mischievious and does like to chew so training would be advised, although she has gotten much better. She is almost completely house trained. Posted Breed: Chihuahua (medium coat). My name is Carmen Sandiego. I'm a sweet chihuahua mix girl. I'm great with humans and good with other dogs. I like to snuggle with others and am pretty laid back. I lost one of my eyes, but it doesn't stop me from living a normal life. Sometimes things may startle me just because I don't see it from my blindside, but otherwise, I'm a pretty well-balanced girl. If you would like to meet me, apply online at www.outpaws.org/adopt

Posted Breed: Shepherd / Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Hello, my name is Buffi. I'm a beautiful and very sweet potcake girl from the Humane Society of Grand Bahama. I'm called a "potcake" because I was a street dog in the Caribbean--they call us potcakes because the people there have a tendency to toss us the cake that forms in the bottom of the pot when cooking rice and peas. I'm a good girl--I get along well with other dogs, I'm friendly and I'm affectionate. Unfortunately, I have heartworm, but the kind people of OutPaws are providing my treatment which I have already started. But they say I'm still available for adoption and could go home with my forever family just as soon as they find me!! If you would like to meet me, apply online at www.outpaws.org/adopt

Posted Breed: Rottweiler / Mixed (medium coat). I'm Summer! I'm a gorgeous Rottweiler. I have white eyelashes that show off my wisdom but don't be fooled there's plenty of pep in my step! My whole butt wags when I'm happy which is pretty much most of the time. I know the commands sit and stay and I'm getting the hang of lie down. I love to give kisses and hold hands with my humans which they try to call shake but I just love to hold hands. I'm crate trained and housebroken. I'm incredibly sweet and loyal.

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). Hi, I am Katarina. I'm a senior German Shepherd girl. The vets say I'm at least 12-13 years old. I came from a hoarding case in New Mexico where our owner left suddenly leaving us with no food or water and locked in a house. I'm happy to be in a foster home where I'm loved and cared for. I'm a little weak in the hind end, but otherwise I still get around pretty well.

Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). If you are looking for the sweetest girl ever, look no further!!! Miss Molly was living on the streets in Houston with her pups and was lucky to get on the Denver-bound bus! Her pups have their own forever homes now, and Molly is ready to find hers, too! Molly is house trained, crate trained and obedient. Belly rubs are her favorite. She is great with adults and kids of all ages. She loves chewing on her rawhide treats, and hanging out on the couch for loving pats is heaven for her. She loves car rides, walks great on a leash, and has successfully completed her heartworm treatment! She wants to be by your side all the time! Molly's foster parents are working with her on training, and she is learning to be neutral with other dogs. Molly would do well in a home with a forever family willing to work slowly and patiently on introducing her to another dog or one where she's the only pup. Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher (short coat). Hi, my name is Sprocket and I'm an adorable and very smart Min Pin boy. I was a great companion in my last home. I knew my obedience, I was loyal and lovable, but for some reason, my owner grew tired of me and dropped me off at the vet and told them to euthanize me. Because I'm still a healthy boy with lots of years to live, I came to OutPaws instead to look for a real forever home. I'm great on walks and jogs. I like people and other dogs. I will protect my rawhide with a little growling, so may not be a good choice for homes with small children. If you would like to meet me, apply online at www.outpaws.org/adopt
