Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). I am a gentle couch potato, and enjoy long walks, just hanging out, never pulling on the leash. I know how to sit, lie down, roll over, and shake. I love to relax and watch TV and snuggle. I have a funny little snaggle-tooth smile and very soft fur. A little shy at first with new people, but very affectionate once I warm up, I am completely house trained and will not counter surf, or chew your furniture or shoes. Jordan Bear is located with a rescue in New Mexico. If you'd like to meet Jordan Bear, please contact Abbie at Email: mauiranch@yahoo.com Since I am a Pitbull cross, I can't be adopted in the following banned areas: Denver, Aurora, Castle Rock, Commerce City, Ft Lupton, Lone Tree, or Louisville Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. 2. We'll contact you to schedule a home visit. 3. If the pet looks like a great match, fill out our Adoption Agreement online (or Foster-to-Adopt Agreement), pay the Adoption Fee, and arrange to pick up your new furry family member!

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Mo

      rescue
      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Terrier / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed. White wisps of hair, warm open smile and eyes wide with wonder make mischievous Mo the ideal poster pup for two-legged doggy love. Sparkling with spirit, sass and spice, this merry little soul is cheerfully unaware of having only two fully functional legs. In the words of his foster mom, he’s as fast as they come! Strap him into his cart and he’s off like a shot, either going on the walks he loves or happily playing with the other dogs in his foster home. Slip him into his Drag Bag while he’s inside the house, and he’s expertly scooting about, here, there and everywhere. Fun and funny, social and sweet, Mo’s signature grunts and groans signify both his love and contentment, making the extra care he requires more than worth it. Practice makes perfect, and with practice, his care is as easy as one, two three. He must be brought outside to potty, must wear a Tinkle Belt or diapers indoors (he’s unable to control his bladder), and should be given a "lion’s cut" to keep his bottom clean. Worth his weight in gold, Mo, the lionhearted little love is, quite simply, worth it. Check out a video of me playing with my friend Buddy HERE Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. Posted Breed: Red Heeler / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. The coppery pirate patch across her left eye adds an air of impishness to this softly speckled sweetheart. As a blend of three active working breeds, Trinity is true to her heritage by being extremely energetic and, barely past puppy hood, she remains as frisky as one. She gets along well with other dogs, and will need another dog in her new home, but NOT cats. She’s is learning to "sit" and walk calmly on leash, while "stay" is more difficult due to her energy. With her housetraining nearly perfected, she and her foster mom are working on reducing her anxiety when getting in and out of cars. Now, the next step in her life’s journey is an active and loving fur-ever home. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. He may be eight years old, but he acts more like three, brimming over with puppyish exuberance and energy. People and pooch friendly, he prefers the company of submissive canines, and because he greets humans by jumping up on them excitedly, he needs a refresher course in doggy manners. Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Woof about an open invitation for belly rubs! Cuddly Coal thrives on human interaction and attention, delivering copious kisses to his fosters while snuggling on their laps or burrowing under the blankets with them. Ten pounds of terrific once he grows comfortable with new people, he eagerly makes them his new best friends. Highly enthusiastic and energetic, he’s happiest when active and walks extremely well on a leash. Disinterested in doggy toys, he’s food and treat motivated, knows his "sit" command, and is calm and well behaved inside the house, only barking when someone’s at the door. Both crate and housetrained (he whines by the door as his signal to go out), he’s now happily on the hunt for a home without children or other pets, with people who would love snuggling and being smothered in kisses fur-ever. Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Kenzie is a spayed, 6 year old shepherd mix that has been enjoying the mountain life in rural Colorado. She loves to explore the outdoors and play with her toys. She is sweet, playful, and eager to please. She is great with people (she loves attention!) and makes an excellent companion. She knows how to use a dog door and is familiar with basic obedience commands. Unfortunately, she does not do well in a home with other pets. Because of this, her current living situation is not a good fit for her. Feeling threatened and stressed by other dogs have led to her being unpredictably aggressive with the other dogs in the home. Things have improved greatly since seeking the assistance of an animal behaviorist, but ultimately, we believe she will be much happier in a home where she can be the only dog. We are hoping to find someone who has experience with dogs and understands Kenzie’s special needs so she can enjoy a fuller and happier life without the stress and trauma caused by interacting other animals. I take him to walk at the lake and take him to dog training with other dogs. I let him meet them briefly and there is no problems. He loves to cuddle and sit in your lap. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Basset Hound / Mixed. Hi, we're Paso (12YO female lab mix) & Dudley (11YO basset hound). We are very loving pets who have lived primarily around adults. Sadly, our person is very ill and is not expected to outlive us, so we are in need of a quiet home in which we can continue our retirement. Ideally, you would be home most of the time, and perhaps you are retired yourself! We would like a comfy home where we can lounge around, and a back yard that is good for running around. We look forward to daily walks to the park or around the neighbourhood. We need to stay together, and preferably be your only dogs. If you would like to meet us, please contact Christy Wollner at 720-829-7488. Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. 2. We'll contact you to schedule a home visit. 3.
