Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Stewie is an awesome boy. He was born January 2012. He is very friendly, has moderate energy, LOVES to go for car rides, enjoys chewing his bones, playing with his balls and loves the good ole butt and back scratches. Stewie can be a "rough" lover at times. He doesn't mean to get overly excited with some loving, but he just gets very happy with his pettings. He knows all basic commands and is great with obedience, he is so very smart !!!!! Stewie also knows how to kiss on command ! Stewie needs to be the only pet (no cats, no dogs) in the household. This is not to say he is dog aggressive, he simply is too rough for the majority of dogs and can get possessive of food and toys. If there are any kids in the house, they should be old enough to participate in dog care and able to follow directions. Stewie even has his one Face Book fan page : stewie adopt me. Go check out some more great pictures of this guy !!! Adoption fee for Stewie is $75.00

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Bullboxer Pit
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Piper came to us on 9/14/16 from the Saginaw County animal shelter where she had been residing for about 3 months. She was surrendered by her previous family. We can't figure out why as she is an amazing dog and will make someone a great companion. Piper is a very sweet, loving girl. She is intelligent and catches on to expectations and boundaries quickly. She is very submissive and LOVES getting her belly rubbed. She craves affection and love. Piper will literally crawl right into your lap And melts right in to you! She is very well behaved and pretty mellow but she does love to run around the yard and chase a ball.

      rescue
      Breed: Bulloxer
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: Boxer / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Eddison is an 11 month old deaf boxer boy. His foster dad says he is a very good boy and has tons of energy. He is the typical young boxer boy that you would expect. His foster dad has been working with hand signals, teaching him a few things. He is very smart and catches on pretty fast. So don't let his deafness interfere from you adopting him. We will require that his new home has an actual fenced in yard, for safety reasons, and you take an obedience class with Eddison, to continue working with him. He loves to play with toys and fetch them. He is good with other dogs, cats and of course kids. And Eddison LOVES to go bye-bye. He is housebroken, neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and free of all internal parasites . He is also micro chipped

      Annabelle - ...

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Boxer
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Senior
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). 9/9/16 Annabelle was found as a stray. She is about 10 years old and is heart worm positive. She is very very skinny and by the looks of it, hasn't had the easiest life. Her foster mom says she is so full of love and joy. A real gem. For being so skinny and having heartworms, she is very happy and has the biggest wiggle butt. Her tail never stops. She is good with kids, cats and dogs. Annabelle won't be ready for a while. We first have to get many more pounds on her before we can even begin her heart worm treatment, which takes about 3 months for the whole treatment. So in the meantime, she will be fed lots of good groceries and given a big, warm bed every night until she is ready to be adopted.

Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). Barney was found as a stray and ended up in a shelter. He was also confirmed to have heart worms. He was very thin, anemic and had pressure sores on his body. Barney is about 2 years old and is currently going through heart worm treatment. He had his first treatment and will still need to have two more treatments and than will be neutered about a month or so after his treatments are done. Barney is good with other dogs, kids and has learned to be okay with cats. Its taken some time, but he is realizing they are not for playing with. We will update more information on Barney as he gets closer to being adopted.

      Greta

      Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier-Boxer Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: Boxer / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Greta came to us from a very sad story. She was found laying next to her best friend, along side the road, who had been hit and killed by a car. She did not want to leave her best friend but after some time, some good people were able to catch her. We thought that Greta might have even been hit by a car as she appeared to have a limp to her leg, but x-rays showed she was just fine. Greta is about a year and a half old female boxer mix. She is very sweet, very loving but a timid girl. It takes her a bit to warm up to strangers at first but once she knows she is safe, she quickly loves the attention. She loves play time out in the yard with other dogs. She is very affectionate to adults especially females. She would be best in a home with a fenced in yard and kids that are 15 or older. She likes to chase cats but will not hurt him. She would love to be lazy and snuggle all day long on your lap if she could. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night and while her foster mom is away at work.

      Breed: Bulloxer
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: Boxer / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Bruno is a very special boy that is looking for a very special person to adopt him. He is an American Bulldog/Boxer mix and if you know the American Bulldog breed you know that he is stubborn, dominant, and protective. He is also one of the most loyal, smartest, and affectionate dogs there is. He is a big goofball and will constantly keep you entertained. Bruno will make someone an extremely loyal companion with proper training and structure. He is active and playful and craves attention. He can work or play all day long, and will happily curl up at your feet for a nice belly rub at the end of the day. He went through a month long board and train program that provided him with the basic obedience and structure that he needed. He will need that continued training and would also excel in advanced training such as agility training. He also loves to go for runs and walks, play tug-of-war, and fetch. Bruno's adopters will also receive 3 free training sessions from his trainer. Bruno lives for his person and just wants to make you happy. If you are looking for a loyal, fun, playful dog to love you unconditionally, Bruno is your boy !! Bruno is about a year and a half old, up to date on vaccines, micro chipped and neutered. He will do best without other dogs in the house and no small children or cats. His adoption fee is $150.

      Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier-Boxer Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: Boxer / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Marley is a younger girl, just under 2 years old, who is looking for her new family. She is very loving, very smart, just wants to be with you, kind of girl. She is a total lover and wants to please her humans. She loves to chew on her hard bones, play tug o war with whoever is willing to play with her and can be a real goof ball. She loves going for car rides and enjoying walks whenever she gets the chance. And of course, she loves to give kisses. She is wonderful with kids and all adults. She is house broken and crate trained. She would do best with a fenced in yard but if her new home does not have one, you will want to be sure she is either on a leash or a tie out as she may wander off. She would do best with another dog who is more laid back or older. No kitties for this girl though. Marley is spayed and current on all vaccines. She is heartworm negative and micro chipped. Kane - ON ME...

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Boxer
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Lake Ann, MI
Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). July 20/2016 ------Kane came to us in January 2016 from Ohio where his owners could no longer care for him and his chronic urine issues. He had kidney stones that the owners left untreated for way to long and decided he needed a better chance. His bladder wall and uretha was inflamed and irritated, he had multiple UTI's enlarged prostate, and was constantly dripping urine. Now fast forward to July 2016 - after being on MULTIPLE different antibiotics, having multiple blood tests and urinalysis done along with x-rays, ultrasounds and special cultures being sent out time and time again, and even having a surgery called a "Urithrostomy", where they relocate the uretha so instead of peeing out of his penis, he pees out of a new, created opening, similiar to a vagina, he is still having leaking issues. So after going to a Michigan State University Veterinarian specialist in the Internal Medicine department, they are now recommending to do a contrast test, where they will put a catheter in his uretha and put a "die" in there to see where the urine is going. They may also put a scope/camera in there as well to look around and do some scrapings. Chances are good he will need to have a very expensive ($4000) surgery to fix his chronic issues.
