Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Buddy is a goofy boy and a total love bug. He has been in training for several months but really wants a home of his own. Buddy has a prey drive for cats and an unknown for small dogs. He was temporarily in a home with an infant and LOVED the baby but it was only for two weeks and they shared a home with others so was not necessarily the best fit for him. He is a good boy and would do well in an active family committed to continue his training and exercise. Good with bigger dogs.

More About American Staffordshire Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. If you are interested in Darwin, please contact Rachel at: HollywoofToTheRescue@gmail.com or call 323-929-7311 My name is Darwin, aka Darwin Lovebug. I am an extremely GENTLE, massively sensitive, and personable 4 year old Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull mix. I weigh about 70lbs, but I'm essentially just an oversized lap dog (no, really- I am). I am always curious about what you are doing- so if you hear someone tip-toeing behind you, that would be me, Mr. Curious! I know basic commands, and I am housetrained- I do not like to be crated, but because I'm such a good boy, my foster mom trusts me alone while she's at work all day. Speaking of home life, I'm actually agreeable to smaller spaces, so apartment living is fine with me because I don't even like to go on walks. I'm just happiest and most content to be inside of a home all day, curled up with my favorite stuffed animal that I carry around for comfort and entertainment- I don't want much activity or have a desire to be outdoors as I am super sensitive to scary noises and activity (I think this is from being chained up in someone's backyard in my previous life before I was rescued). I have been living with the same foster since June 2013, and little by little I have become less anxious around other dogs. I have been through socialization camp, which has boosted my confidence quite a bit, but I'm still scared of most other dogs when I am outdoors on leash (again, because I was always a backyard dog, I just never learned how to walk on leash calmly or how to meet other dogs). I guess you can say I am dog selective- a dominant, loud or pushy kind of dog will only upset me, but if you are a fun, calm dog, you and I can be best friends- just like my foster sister Mynka and I are (she's the white pit bull in the pictures- she is my favorite and yes, she's also looking for a forever home). I also have no toy or food aggression issues- I am not jealous and do not have any issues sharing, which is also great for any families out there with kids (which I do love as well, someone fun to follow around, take naps with, and watch tv next to at night). All I want is a home to call my own, and a family who understands that I am just a sensitive but extremely loving dog whose confidence comes from the security and patience you give me. I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of my shots. If you are interested in fostering or adopting me, let's set up a meet and greet! Please contact my foster mom Rachel at: HollywoofToTheRescue@gmail.com

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Meet Scarlett! She is a friendly, energetic, 1 year old am staff mix. A good Samaritan witnessed her being tied to a tree and left. She was taken to the OC shelter and was on death row (like most am staffs/pitties at the shelter), and she was rescued by an individual. She is in training and is doing great! So far she is learning her commands and interacts well with other dogs and all people, she has not yet been around children or cats. Looking for a foster or forever home for her after her basic training program, keep this precious girl in mind for any of your pittie loving friends! She will need an active household, and a strong pack leader. If you would like to foster or adopt sweet Scarlett, contact Roni Raczkowski at 714.878.3796 or Roni ronir@msn.com

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Macy is adorable and sweet. She is about 2 years old and on the smaller medium side. She is about 35-40 pounds. She has not found the right forever home. Macy is VERY smart, and needs an experienced handler. She has lived with two dogs and has done well with many other dogs, but on the leash she has trouble meeting dogs. She is in a board and train working on that, but it will be a life long commitment. Even better if she is the only dog in the house. She deserves all the love she can get. Experienced owner needed. Older kids would be better. I would not have her around cats. Please consider fostering or adopting. She really needs a break and a loving family. She is very active and really a sweet girl.

      Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier

      Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Dalmatian. My name is Evie and I have been patiently waiting for a home of my own for 5.5 years!! I am 11 years old and weigh about 70 pounds. I was rescued from the Devore shelter when I was pregnant with 9 puppies. I was a good mom, and I am told I am a precious girl. I love to play ball and I will bring it back to you as many times as you can throw it. I love tug-a-war. One of my favorite treats is my peanut butter and yogurt Kong. I love to Chew on bully sticks. I walk well on the leash and love to hike or even run. I play well with others but sometimes do get jealous when there are people around. I want your attention to myself and I would be ok being the only dog or if you have experience with large, strong breeds, you should be ok having me in the house with other dogs. I have had two foster brothers, Caesar (an 80lb bull mastiff/lab mix), and Angel (a 10lb pom). I LOVE people! I will show you how much I love you and express it with lots of licks/kisses. I am really smart and I will show you all my tricks: such as sit, down, shake, stay/come and I will even wait nicely at the door until you tell me OK! I love getting in the pool, and I am crate trained, well-mannered in the house, but I don't like cats. I would do best with an adult owner and older kids (teens). My previous foster mom says I am super sweet and super smart. If you will put some time and effort I learn quickly and I really want to please. Will you take a chance on me and give me a great home? Really all I want is my OWN home for the rest of my life. If you take me home I will be a good girl and LOVE you until the day I die. I am a very loyal girl.
