Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). If you want a bouncy adorable boy to kiss you, cuddle in your lap and just love you...Jordan is your guy! He is a happy go lucky fellow. We’ve known many wonderful dogs in our time, but this boy is the happiest, goofiest, lovingest one of all! When we first took him to our vet for a checkup (yes, he's very healthy), he just jumped in his lap, hugged him and kissed him. The Vet fell in love, but he already has 3 dogs at home. So that makes you the lucky one to adopt this handsomest and brightest boy! [Jordan is 9 years old and about 61 lbs.] (Mar-08)

More About American Staffordshire Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Tibetan Terrier / Havanese / Mixed (medium coat). I was adopted a few years ago, but my person recently returned me even though I did nothing wrong. I am pretty confused because I do not understand where my human and home went. I have to admit that I am pretty anxious right now because I am feeling unloved and unwanted, so I may not be the most well-balanced boy. I am sorry, but I feel so lost. Can you help me find my way again? I want to feel safe and the unconditional love and commitment that I thought I had before, and once I am feeling better about myself, I can shed my insecurities and be a happy boy again. I miss being happy. If you have had experience with dogs who are seeking guidance and structure, would you help me? I promise to do my best. If you are interested in meeting Josh, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and fax it back to us at (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Josh was born in Dec. 2012 and weighs 29 lbs.] (1412/1702)

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). I was found abandoned….um, in the “valley" of Los Angeles (hence my name, very creative). After an intensive search for my original home, then spay and lots of TLC, I started looking for my forever home where I will be loved and protected for the rest of my life. I’m generally a happy girl, and get along with my canine foster brother and love snuggling with my human foster dad. Once I get to know you, I’m like that all the time. It’s the initial meeting that sometimes flips me out, and I make faces and noises that temporarily make me look scary, even though I have no intention of attacking. I guess I feel I have to protect myself. I know, I know….I’ll never be adopted if I keep doing this, but it's really a catch 22, ya know? I just need someone to adopt me and convince me that I don’t have to protect myself anymore. I’m very well-mannered in the house; actually my foster dad says I’m “perfect.” And I know all my basic commands my previous foster mama taught me. Would you give me a chance and let me blossom in your life? If you are interested in meeting Valley, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and fax it back to us at (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Valley was born in July 2014 and weighs 51 lbs.] (1508)

Posted Breed: Terrier / Papillon / Mixed (medium coat). Hi, I’m Bobby! I’m extremely happy, energetic and agile, and I love kids! I have lots of fun playing and have the best time with my human foster sisters, they toss toys for me to catch and retrieve, and I looove it! I am a very loyal dog and follow my foster mama around all the time, she loves to give me kisses on my little nose. I’m protective of my foster family but very gentle, I behave really well, I learn things quickly and wait patiently for my food. My favorite thing to do so far is going to the park and rolling on the grass. My foster mama saved me from getting hit by a car in the middle of a busy street. I was really scared, thirsty and felt lost…I ran and ran for blocks until I finally got into her car and she drove me to her home. I get along with their family dog. Even when he gets jealous of me, I just leave him alone and never get into an argument because I’m respectful and polite! I’m looking for a loving family who will love me for who I am and enjoy my active personality. I promise that I will love you forever. If you are interested in meeting Bobby please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and fax it back to us at (310) 362-0321. Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). I was dumped at the pound by my abuser owner….then got lucky, I was saved. I was in a very bad condition, not long to live but then look at me now, I was given a 2nd chance. I am a very sweet and loving girl, who enjoys her walks, playful and love to give you kisses! I can learn tricks if you have the patience because I already know a few such as; sit, shake, heal around you, then sit again, shake again and I will balance things on my head for you. I love so much to play fetch non-stop with my balls and play in the water hose where I can jump high in the air but be careful…I will chew up your water hose! When I sleep I need to sleep alone where no one sneaks up on me and suddenly awakening me because I was abused at one time, so I need you to always let me know you are there, with NO surprises. I am very good on a leash with healing and staying with my person. I so love being brushed and loved on but I just need that right person who knows, understands and can teach me. It was noisy and scary and I felt overwhelmed. People would come and take other dogs home, but I always got left behind and so I hid in the back of my kennel to get away from the world. I had started to give up and then a nice lady got me out! I jumped with joy and was the happiest boy alive! I am out of there now and ready to put the past behind me. They said in the pound that I was shy with people I do not know, but seriously it takes me seconds to warm up and then I will shower you with the best kisses. I'm a really happy and friendly guy. I have a fair amount of energy and love my walks. I love to play and I love belly rubs. I would be happy to live with or without another dog. But I love, love, love children! I really will light up your life and you have to admit that I have the most adorable face that you have ever seen! Please come and meet me and see how cute I am inside and out!
