If you want to snuggle and get kisses, she is ready to do that too! She is pretty laid back most of the time and loves her belly rubbed. She is good on a leash but still needs some training. She enjoys running with her human and will be the perfect running partner! Hailey is currently in training and making great progress, did you know continued training is free of charge when utilizing LDDR's trainers after adoption!? Hailey is fixed, UTD on shots, crate trained, house broken and microchipped. Hailey enjoys squirrels a little too much and will chase and bark at them. Hailey knows how to sit, shake, lay down, come, and roll over. Hailey LOVES to play fetch with a ball. Hailey would love being an only dog as long as she gets enough exercise. Hailey will need a slow introduction to other dogs. Hailey has tried to dig under her fence and will require supervision when not on a leash. Hailey talks back when she doesn't get her way and would love a lot of attention particularly from kids to play with! She still needs some work on her manners but she is very eager to learn. Hailey LOVES to go swimming! She thoroughly enjoys chasing after waves and running and jumping in the water. Hailey used to live with children and they adored her! Hailey does GREAT in the car and has done trips to other states with no problems. Hailey also does very well in her crate and would work in a household where she would need to be crated for up to 10 hours if needed for a work day. Hailey would be great for an active household! Does your home sound like one of these: an active runner, an active household with kids, a home where Hailey will be an only child getting lots of one on one time with her owner? If so, please consider Hailey today! Email Hailey's foster Kristin at bodlek18@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you would like to meet her! If you are interested in adopting Hailey please fill out our online application for the quickest adoption process. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes. We appreciate you stopping by.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi! My name is Libby Lu. I am a foster dog and I am looking for a great home to call my own. Once I lived in a house with 65 other dogs which has made me very shy and nervous around people. I don't like to be petted or touched and I stiffen up when that happens because I am ever so nervous, but with the right patience and training I am hoping you can coax me out of my shell. I like to have doggy friends who I can play with and I like to play on my own. Sometimes I collect all the toys to hide in my crate. I even have a special toy fish named Fred. I really love a quiet house but my favorite thing is to walk!! My foster mom says that I smile a "real" smile when I am walking because I am so joyful to be outside seeing the world. I ignore the cats here in my foster home and sometimes I bark at the neighbor dogs, but I can get along with most dogs and cats. My foster mom loves that I come to greet her at the door and that I bark if the doorbell rings, but I don't bark excessively. My foster mom thinks I am a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixed with something else, like a Chihuahua perhaps. I am solid and heavier than I look, about 19 lbs. My foster mom says that I may be hard to pick up for some people, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a small dog. I like to be in the room nearby you, but not right on top of you, so I am not much of a lap dog either. Mostly I like to take walks and to nap the day away. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. “A dark eyed beauty with a smile all her own.” Hi! I’m Ellie, a sweet, affectionate girl who is on a journey to find my forever home. I was rescued from an abandoned yard and am so excited to have an opportunity to find a family that I can love. Training and trust have been key on the road to my transformation from orphan to loyal companion. I’m learning how to interact properly with dogs of various sizes, and how to listen to my handler when distractions exist. I know many commands, such as sit, stay, shake, no, come, go potty, down, roll over, and give kisses. I’m house trained, leash trained and crate trained. I love as much positive attention as possible, (who doesn’t?) and am not certain I want to share your affection with other animals. I like Nylabones, Kong toys and real bones but have a hard time sharing such treats with canine buddies. (I never got any before I was rescued.) A home where I can be the sole shining canine star would be ideal. I’ve been described as very affectionate, (I love cuddles!), sensitive, and mostly submissive. I can be insecure when it comes to loud noises, such as thunderstorms and fireworks. My future owners will need to be patient and kind, and continue with my training and socialization. I’m a sweet girl who is longing for a home where I’ll never be left behind again. Can you help me complete my journey and make my dreams of a loving home come true? Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Collie (long coat). If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Enzo is a working breed dog who needs someone who will mentally stimulate him along with playing fetch or tug of war and go for walks. He needs activities that will build his confidence, such as scent work, barn hunt, agility classes for fun (will never be able to compete in agility due to hip dysplasia in both hips). There are times when he would like to just sit out in the back yard sunbathing but then there are days he run laps around yard. Enzo is a mature dog who prefers not to be around dogs that are in your face. He doesn't do well with smaller dogs but when introduced properly he gets along with dogs his size or bigger. He can be food aggressive with other dogs, you can take his food away or pet him while he eats but if another dog comes too close he will react. A home with no cats would be best since he does like to chase them. Enzo is skittish with strangers and takes time to warm up to others. Tends to warm up to women before men. He wants to please and works hard at his training. He does well with children as long as they are not squeezing him and getting in his face, there are no children in the foster home but he's been around kids from ages 2-15. A low traffic household would be best. At the end of the day with lots of patience you will end up with a 47 pound lap dog once he warms up to you. Meet Prince, an active 5 year old Black Labrador Retriever / German Shorthair Pointer mix. Poor Prince was confined to an apartment with no socialization and little attention because the family lost interest in him. LDDR agreed to take Prince and find the right home for him. He is now receiving lots of playtime and TLC in his foster home while waiting for a forever home. Prince is your typical busy dog that will do best in an active home and with an adopter who is willing to work with him to teach him some proper manners. A fenced yard would be ideal to play ball, as that’s his favorite thing to do. Prince walks well on a leash except when a car goes by. He currently has a desire to chase moving cars. He is perfectly housetrained and will bark at the door to let you know he needs to go out, and he will bark at the door to come back in, too. Prince is good with most dogs when properly introduced. He seems to ignore cats, but has never lived with one. For more information or questions, email Tim at tmb611@msn.com Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. I was found in an abandoned home and didn't have a great start to life but now I am happy healthy and ready to be your new best friend. I am currently in LDDR's board and train program where I am learning to be the best dog I can be. I have been making some huge improvements and I know I won't let you down if you take a chance on me. My favorite thing in the world is to play tug and fetch so I hope you like that too. I've been trying out this thing called a flirt pole too and that's really fun because I get to play and chase things on it. Come out to meet me and you can see what a sweet fun boy I am! I am crate and house trained. I am good with cats, would do best in a home with kids teen and up, and would prefer to be the only dog in the home. I am a good boy on leash and don't react to dogs but would prefer to keep to myself when they're around. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. My name is Poppy! I am one of a kind. I love being around my people, where they go, I go. I am like a little shadow (only not so little). My foster mom says I am pretty sure that I am a lap dog, because I will start laying next to you and every so sweetly inch my way closer and closer until I have at least my head on you! She says I am a great cuddler. My favorite people to cuddle with are my human foster brother and sister. In fact, now that I am used to living with them, mom lets me sleep in bed with them at night. This is by far my favorite privilege. I love kids!!! I am really strong and learning how to be calm when little kids are around, but it is hard because I just love them so much! When I first came to my foster house, everyone thought I didn't like little dogs because the family I was going to be living with had three small dogs and we got off on the wrong foot. Those little dogs would growl and bite at me...it scared me, so I growled back. I sound a little scary so my foster mommy kept us separate for two weeks. Eventually, I got used to the little dogs attitude and didn't respond to it anymore...now we are best of friends. In fact, the smallest doggie and I are always together, playing or sleeping (my mommy some pictures of us together on my page). I am learning boundaries and commands, but I can be stubborn and forgetful. Everyday I get better, but I will need a strong pack leader and continued training when I move my permanent home (but what dog doesn't). I am so comfortable in my foster home and it will be so hard to leave my little family, but I just know there is a family waiting to keep me forever...might that be you? I will love you completely and unconditionally! We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes. We appreciate you stopping by.
