COURTESY POSTING FOR K9 RESCUE AND REHAB, AUBURN IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET MISS VICTORIA PLEASE EMAIL TAMERA@K9RR.OR AND INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER. Beautiful Victoria. She's an easy going girl... that has her periodic burst of energy to run around the yard... and then she's back to being calm and reserved. She's a very observant girl that likes to stay back and assess her surroundings before engaging with new people... that is, unless you have a pocket full of treats! Victoria is somewhat of a shorty but quite solid and weighs about 60lbs. She is about 2ish yrs old. She's selective about her doggy pals so being an only dog in the home is a must... and no small dogs or cats. Because she is a bit reserved an adult only home or kids over 16 would be best.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Welcome Calliope to LAMPR!! Calliope is a darling little Chihuahua who has won my heart with her charming personality. She is smart and sassy hence the "experienced adopter" box checked but what I'm really looking for is someone who will invest the time to train her and mold her into the pup she can be. She already knows how to sit and will be a wonderful entertainer because she is SO food motivated. She is very loving and really attaches quickly. She picks one person to love but I think that she will fit nicely into a family. I'm going to say older kids would be great for her because they could also be involved with her training. She is housebroken and we have been using an indoor potty yard since it's been so cold outside and she does great with that. She likes the crate but likes to be able to come in and out....but give her a treat and it goes right into her little den. She's really cute and someone will be very lucky to have a friend like her!Calliope's adoption donation is $400. She is not yet microchipped simply because she arrived with kennel cough and I didn't want to stress her further. I will refund $25 to the adopter with proof of implantation. If you would like to meet Calliope please email lynn.dillon65@gmail.com. Thank you for considering a rescue!

He will steal your heart instantly and you’ll be hooked for life! Beautiful Blue is playful and energetic 10 month old, Staffy mix who was rescued out of a high kill California shelter on his last day. He weighs 65lbs (but maybe still has growing to do!) but is truly a gentle giant. He is super affectionate and loves every adult and child he meets. Blue loves the outdoors, is a terrific hiking and walking partner and is not bothered by Western Washington weather! Blue would love a fun and active family that can provide him the exercise, structure and attention he craves. He loves people but dogs and cats are a "no-go" so we are hoping to find that home where he would be the only pet. Blue walks well on a leash, is terrific in the car and knows his basic commands. Blue currently living with his trainer at Muck Creek kennels in Roy. His adoption fee includes a session with trainer Jon too. Due to his size, a home without very small children is ideal because he can easily knock over a little one. He is super good with older kids especially since they can play with him. BFF Blue seems to like everyone! He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He does like to romp and play, but this boy also appreciates chill time and is a true cuddler! And you never have to worry about bath time--Blue LOVES to take showers, loving the water and swimming too! He’ll play fetch in the water and provide hours or entertainment for his family! Please email Terry at luckydog115@gmail.com if you have any questions about Blue. His adoption fee is $300 and you can provide right away by going to raincityrescue.com/adopt. Posted Breed: Shepherd / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Hi! I'm Zulee! I arrived from Mexico where most of us start our lives as street dogs. I was lucky enough to end up in a loving foster home where they taught me excellent house manners and how to be a pet. I lived in that casa with 3 other dogs. I'm now in a loving home in Issaquah with another dog who I love to chase and wrestle with and a few cats who I am learning to play nicely with. I would not be a good choice for a family with small kids but I think I would LOVE to have older kids who liked to do outdoor activities. I have a lot of energy so I really need an owner who likes to bike, run, hike, or just generally enjoys being active and wants a pal to do that with them. I get excited when I see other dogs on walks so I'm going to need some training on that and also some help learning to walk perfectly on a leash...I'm not bad but I'm only 10 months old so my enthusiasm for adventure sometimes gets the better of me. So let's go over this again...I am a 10 month old, female pup of unknown breed mix who came from Mexico. I weigh about 50 pounds right now. I would love an active family with or without older kids(teens). I would also love an active canine friend who is exuberant and loves to run in a large fenced yard. I also need total commitment to training to make me that best pup I can be! I hope you will love me and I hope to meet you soon! Zulee's adoption donation is $375 to cover vetting and care while in rescue. LAMPR is a 501c3 public charity and all monies go to help other dogs in need. Thanks for considering a rescue!

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Joe is an awesome, 70lb, 4-5yr old boy that loves everyone. He's VERY easy going so although he's great with small kids, he'd prefer a much calmer environment. He loves car rides and going for walks, and even an occasional hiking trip is fine. He's not much of a jogger or runner, though. He must have a fenced backyard and he must have an owner that accepts he prefers to be created when left alone. He's wonderful with other dogs and needs to be in a home with another dog. https://youtu.be/0lvKzJSahAc. You can't ask for a better meet and greet! If you would like to meet this sweet handsome boy please email tamera@k9rr.org and include your phone number.

He's very easy going and gentle, quiet as can be, rides great in the car, loves all dogs... what else could you ask for?! Otis appears to be a mix of American Bulldog, Heeler and maybe some AmStaff terrier. Whatever he is, he's adorable, very friendly and loves everyone. Otis is wonderful with other dogs and would love a large playmate in the home, but it's not required. He must have a fenced backyard. Otis is also crate trained and can be left home alone for a reasonable amount of hours. If you could consider fostering Otis for 2 weeks or even adopting please email tamera@k9rr.org and Please include your phone number.

Cece loves to pull you on your bike or skate board, or just a good long hiking trip will do, too. Cece loves car rides and a long jog is also always welcome. She's a great family dog but because her energy level is quite high, kids must be over 12yrs old. She is fully house trained and crate trained and even though she is a busy girl, she is polite and does not jump on people. She is selective of her doggy pals so no other dogs in the home is best. Although she barks only occasionally, she does 'talk' quite often so she would love a family that will talk with her. Cece must have a fenced backyard. If you would like to meet this fun energetic girl please email tamera@k9rr.org and please include your phone number.

      Location: Seattle, WA
Posted Breed: Jack Russell Terrier. Corky is a spry and very charming 12 yr old Jack Russell Terrier who is need of a forever home in the Seattle area. He is housetrained, loves to go for lots of walks and is a very adaptable companion. Corky must be an only dog. It is best he be placed in a home with no other dogs, cats, small critters or small children. Corky lived with elderly people all his life so he did not get proper socialization with other animals. He is an easy-going guy who enjoys hanging out at home with his people. He loves to go on lots of walks, so an active retiree or work from home person would be ideal. We have been working with Corky doing reactive behavior training in a controlled and safe environment. Corky would love for his new family to continue to keep him safe by learning how to manage and navigate his walks. He is ready to move forward into the next chapter of his life. Corky is in good health. He has a history of seizures which is managed with low cost medication. The cause is unknown. He is housetrained and walks very well on a leash. We have noticed him to be very adaptable in all situations from riding in the car, meeting new people and being exposed to new environments and situations in small doses. It is like seeing everything for the first time in his life! He is attentive and curious which is the nature of the Jack Russell breed. Jack Russell Terrier experience is a huge plus! SAVING OUR SENIORS (SOS) advocates, educates and assists in the welfare of senior dogs so that they may know love, comfort and care in their golden years. Please visit our Facebook page “Saving Our Seniors” to learn more about Corky. Email SOS for an application at dog.sos@yahoo.com or call 206-992-3942.

Posted Breed: Husky / Chow Chow / Mixed. Bennett is a shy, 5 year old boy that weighs about 60lbs. He has the striking markings of a Husky but is shorter and built like a Chow... black tongue and all. It takes him a little time to warm up but lots treats and gentle petting helps him understand quickly that he's found another friend. Once he gets to know you, he's very sweet. And he's VERY quiet! He's not much of a runner or jogger but instead would prefer to just hang out at home and sometimes go on short, easy going walks. He loves to play with other dogs... and actually prefers males dogs to play with. Because he's a bit insecure, he must have another medium to large, easy going dog in the home. Bennett is learning to walk on a leash and go for car rides... and he's coming along like a champ! He must have a fenced backyard and a dog experienced home. Because he's timid, no kids in the home would be best... and no cats. If you would like to meet Bennett please email tamera@k9rr.org and include your phone number.

But after just a minute or two, and a couple of treats, she loves to climb on your lap and cuddle. She gets very scared when you try to pick her up so a gentle home is a must. She gets along great with other dogs and cats, and should have another balanced dog in the home to help boost her confidence. Because she's a bit fearful with fast movement, an adult only home is best. Ming is about 2yrs old and weighs about 12lbs. She is currently being fostered in the Tacoma area.
