Posted Breed: Beagle. Hi! My name is Dash and I am a handsome, loving, quirky guy. I will need a very specific type of home but I am worth it - I will love you forever! - No kids - No other dogs - Fenced yard My likes: - Snuggling. Right in your face. I may weigh 27 pounds but I have the soul of a lap dog. Most of the time I will take the hint and snuggle beside you if you need your lap for other things. I also like to tunnel under the blankets on your bed but my foster home doesn't allow that. - Playing fetch/catch. I am really good at this game and will play it as long as you will. I love to chase the ball and bring it back. I'll even drop it close enough so you don't have to get out of your chair. - Eating. I'm a beagle. 'Nuff said. I had some extra weight on me when I came to the rescue but have lost it and will need you to help me stay at a healthy weight. - Approval. I am smart and really want to please my family. I bet you could teach me lots of things! I have shown perfect potty habits in my foster home. My dislikes: - Dogs that are bigger than me. They make me very nervous and I may react by barking and even lunging at them. Lucky for me, most big dogs don't react the same way. I often get along just fine with dogs smaller than me, and my foster home has a guinea pig that I pretty much ignore. - The dog park. I will need a home with a fenced yard so I can play fetch but not have to worry about other dogs. - Vacuum cleaners. Brooms. Treadmills. Lawnmowers. I get a bit stressed and will protect you from them by doing my best to destroy them. *** If you read all the way to the end of this narrative and are interested in meeting Dash, please contact us for a private meet up to see what a great dog he is! If you have any questions we'd be happy to talk with you.

More About Beagle Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Beagle. Rufus found himself at animal control with his buddy, Olive and we aren't sure why. He is a great little beagle guy with a lot of love to give! Rufus is very timid but very lovable. He's also very vocal, not just howling (only outside) but he also "moo"s and whines a lot to show his love! He came to TBBR underweight and we are trying to fatten him up. Rufus does not have a mean bone in his body, and he is always looking for love.

Posted Breed: Beagle. Olive found herself at animal control with her buddy, Rufus and we aren't sure why. Olive is a little pistol. She is quite active and loves to go for walks. She actually runs. She is an escape artist and will seek out an adventure outside the confines of your yard, so it will have to be fortified. Luckily, in her current foster home, there are no escape routes. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster homes, although she likes to be the boss of them. :-)

      Breed: Beagle
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: Tampa, FL
Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). Marshall is a gentle soul looking for love. He came to us with a bit of hair loss on his back and tail, but that just adds to his charm. He loves to go for walks and walks well on a leash. Marshall has a great appetite and will work for his dinner, if he thinks you didn’t feed him enough dinner he will push his bowl all over the kitchen telling you he wants more! He knows sit, sit-up, will give you his paw and roll over. He has his foster mom trained and lets you know when he wants out, and knows there is a treat waiting for him when he comes in. Marshall loves to cuddle but isn’t demanding about it, he is content to lie in his bed or play with his toys. Marshall is listed as a senior but he has a lot of spunk and is quite playful at times. Marshall is looking for a forever home and hopes that person doesn’t have to leave him by himself all day!

      Breed: Beagle-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Tampa, FL
Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Dory is as cute as a button. Dory is quite the snuggler - beside you, half on you...whatever she can get away with. (Kisses too.) She's yet to meet a human where she hasn't tried to crawl up into their lap for some lovin'. She would do best in a home with older children and/or just adults who will work with her to make her feel comfortable and safe. She wants to be the alpha dog, and she is definitely a hunter, so no cats or birds. She is a little jealous/protective of her human, so careful introductions will need to be done if another dog is in the house....as a single - you'll be her one and only love. Stuffed toys - she loves them! The squeakier, the better. Beware -- she will also steal your socks! Crates well, typical beagle at dinner time, is tall enough to reach the counters. Won't you consider helping Dory find her "furever" home?

Posted Breed: Beagle. Tandy is a sweet and quiet gentleman whose favorite activity is snuggling. He is housebroken and will go to the back door and wait for us to take him out. He has been very shy but he gets along fine with the other dogs and has not been bothered by our cat. He rides nicely in the car but can use some more practice walking on a leash. He gets excited around food, like most beagles so we feed him in his own specific spot.

      Age: Adult
      Location: Tampa, FL
Posted Breed: Beagle / Treeing Walker Coonhound / Mixed. Frankie was found in a retention pond in Tampa in early July. The people who found him believe he was hit by a car and knocked into the pond. He was taken to Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, who then contacted us about taking him in. He has recovered from surgery to repair a broken femur and is now available for adoption. Frankie is very sweet and quiet. He gets along with the people and other dogs in his foster home. As you can imagine, Frankie's medical bills were quite high. If you'd like to donate to help cover the cost, please click the Paypal link on the home page of this website.

      Breed: Beagle

Posted Breed: Beagle. Doobie came into the rescue as a stray. We were told that his owner died and other relatives didn't want him. Doobie co-exists peacefully with the other dogs in his foster household, but he really loves his humans and seems to attach to one person and wants to be with that one person all the time. He is completely housetrained and has been left alone for 4-5 hours with no incident. He doesn't like to be picked up but will jump up on the couch or chair and sit across your lap so you can stroke him. Doobie would do best as an only dog with a single person or a couple who isn't gone for too many hours.

Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). Archie is a very relaxed guy. He loves to go for walks and run with the big dogs. He enjoys snuggling on the bed but he does need a little help getting up there. Archie does exhibit one bad beagle quality--trash surfing! Any experienced beagle owners will know all about that! Archie loves to travel and rides in the car like an angel. He is getting along beautifully with the other pups in the house.
