Posted Breed: Beagle. Doobie came into the rescue as a stray. We were told that his owner died and other relatives didn't want him. Doobie co-exists peacefully with the other dogs in his foster household, but he really loves his humans and seems to attach to one person and wants to be with that one person all the time. He is completely housetrained and has been left alone for 4-5 hours with no incident. He doesn't like to be picked up but will jump up on the couch or chair and sit across your lap so you can stroke him. Doobie would do best as an only dog with a single person or a couple who isn't gone for too many hours.

More About Beagle Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Location: Tampa, FL
Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). Archie is a very relaxed guy. He loves to go for walks and run with the big dogs. He enjoys snuggling on the bed but he does need a little help getting up there. Archie does exhibit one bad beagle quality--trash surfing! Any experienced beagle owners will know all about that! Archie loves to travel and rides in the car like an angel. He is getting along beautifully with the other pups in the house.

Posted Breed: Beagle / Treeing Walker Coonhound / Mixed. Frankie was found in a retention pond in Tampa in early July. He was taken to Hillsborough County Animal Shelter, who then contacted us about taking him in. And we did. He is recovering from surgery to repair a broken femur and will be available for adoption soon. Frankie is very sweet and quiet. He gets along with the people and other dogs in his foster home. As you can imagine, Frankie's medical bills were quite high. If you'd like to donate to help cover the cost, please click the Paypal link on the home page of this website.

Posted Breed: Beagle. 7/8/16 update: Pin is wonderful with the cats. He is still skittish so he sleeps under the bed. He plays in the yard with the other dogs and comes in when called. He is mostly housetraind. We have never felt the need to crate him so I'm not sure how he would react woth a crate. He really is just an absolute pleasure. Pin was found in a hunting area near the FL/GA border, but no one claimed him. He isn't used to being in a house yet, so he needs to be in a home with a fenced yard. He will sometimes come in the house for a few minutes, but isn't comfortable staying inside for long. He's a gorgeous dog, very sweet and mellow. Gets along with people and other dogs. Hasn't been around young children. Not food aggressive.

Posted Breed: Beagle / Basset Hound. Jupiter thinks his name is Pops so that is what we call him. Pops came into the rescue with heartworms. :( He has been treated, but he is still on exercise restrictions and is being treated for a constant cough that has not gone away with the heartworm treatment. Pops could not be more lovable. He wants to cuddle and love on someone all the time. He is gentle and sweet and would do well in any home. His favorite thing in the whole world besides food is to have his belly rubbed. If you met Pops you would love him. Won't you consider taking him home?

Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed. Pansy is one of six puppies from their beagle Mom Zoey. We do not know who Dad was so knowing the pups are already 8-10 pounds each we estimate they will be larger then your typical beagle when they are fully grown. Please be aware of this before applying to adopt these beautiful puppies. Please think carefully before applying to adopt a puppy as they do require more patience and time then an adult dog. This litter will have an adoption donation of $300 each. This donation helps to cover the spay or neuter, vaccines to date of adoption, deworming and microchip. The second photo on this page is of her mother, Zoey, a purebred beagle.

      Breed: Beagle
      Sex: Female Female

      Location: Tampa, FL
Posted Breed: Beagle / Foxhound. Baby Girl is a lovely little lady. She has a nice energy level for a young dog and gets along nicely with others. Baby Girl loves to cuddle and is one of sweetest dogs we've ever met. She is very smart, crate trained, and a joy to be around. She loves to play fetch and play with her doggie friends. Baby Girl also loves taking naps in the sun and belly rubs. She is house broken, but needs basic obedience and leash training. We have been working with her on not pulling and she is getting a lot better. Baby Girl would be great for an active family that is able to give her training and a lot of attention and exercise.

      Location: Tampa, FL
Posted Breed: Beagle. Hi! My name is Dash and I am a handsome, loving, quirky guy. I will need a very specific type of home but I am worth it - I will love you forever! - No kids - No other dogs - Fenced yard My likes: - Snuggling. Right in your face. I may weigh 27 pounds but I have the soul of a lap dog. Most of the time I will take the hint and snuggle beside you if you need your lap for other things. I also like to tunnel under the blankets on your bed but my foster home doesn't allow that. - Playing fetch/catch. I am really good at this game and will play it as long as you will. I love to chase the ball and bring it back. I'll even drop it close enough so you don't have to get out of your chair. - Eating. I'm a beagle. 'Nuff said. I had some extra weight on me when I came to the rescue but have lost it and will need you to help me stay at a healthy weight. - Approval. I am smart and really want to please my family. I bet you could teach me lots of things! I have shown perfect potty habits in my foster home. My dislikes: - Dogs that are bigger than me. They make me very nervous and I may react by barking and even lunging at them. Lucky for me, most big dogs don't react the same way. I often get along just fine with dogs smaller than me, and my foster home has a guinea pig that I pretty much ignore. - The dog park. I will need a home with a fenced yard so I can play fetch but not have to worry about other dogs. - Vacuum cleaners. Brooms. Treadmills. Lawnmowers. I get a bit stressed and will protect you from them by doing my best to destroy them. *** If you read all the way to the end of this narrative and are interested in meeting Dash, please contact us for a private meet up to see what a great dog he is! If you have any questions we'd be happy to talk with you.
