Coat: White should not cover more than a third of the dog. Coat is short and smooth.
Character: Boxers tend to be very friendly and intelligent dogs. They bond very closely with their family.
Temperament: The breed gets along especially well with children. They also can get along well with most other dogs and household pets. They can be naturally inclined to protect a family from intruders.

More About Boxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Kuros is a sweet boy with LOTS of playful energy. He loves to play with other dogs his size but is also happy just lounging around on the couch. He's kennel trained and has good house manners. No small animals for this guy. He's very easily excited by them and thinks they're squeaky toys. He's great with dogs around his size male or female. Same goes for small children - he loves 'em but is so excited by them that he has trouble not jumping for joy over them. Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Ebony is a loving and playful dog! She aims to please and loves her people so much. She's a professional snuggler and wants nothing more than to curl up with you on the couch. She really is one of the most affectionate dogs. Ebony gets along beautifully with her two foster fur-brothers and loves to run and wrestle with them in the yard. But she also respects boundaries and settles when they tire of playing, or you ask her to calm down. Ebony has a high prey drive so should not go to a home with small dogs, cats, or other little critters. She listens well and is not needy. She has wonderful house manners and has not been destructive at all, has not had any accidents, and is very calm in the house. She also goes into her crate on command and sleeps wonderfully through the night. Ebony loves children and has been gentle and loving with everyone including babies. She could use some work on leash manners and would benefit from some training classes. She wants so badly to play with all dogs that she meets, that she can become over stimulated and barky when she sees strange dogs on a leash. But Ebony is very smart, and very treat motivated, so this is something she is working on and will overcome! In her foster mom's quiet neighborhood with fenced yard, its not even an issue at all! Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Hi! I'm Beauty! Since I've spent a lot of time living outside, I am a little shy and nervous at first in new situations, but I am making rapid progress in my current foster home. Once I am comfortable, I am VERY loving and playful. I love to romp in the yard with my foster momma's other dogs, or just hang on the couch chewing on a bone or cuddling with my foster mom. I am still adjusting to those weird noises of the city and people, but I am slowly getting the hang of it! I would love a home with a family that can give me a few weeks to get comfortable and put some work in to building my confidence. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). This stunning, medium energy girl would love nothing more than a house where she has a nice backyard to run in and a person (or people) to shadow. She loves to snuggle with people and take naps by the fire. She also loves to be the center of attention! Even though she can't hear, she knows lots of hand signals and loves to please, especially if there are treats involved. She is crate trained (it takes her about 10-15 minutes to settle, but then she sleeps). She likes to bark when she's in the car, but were working in it! Meredith needs slow intros to dogs, but once she knows she can trust them, she's awesome with other pups! Once you meet her, it won't take long to fall in love. Age: 3 years Weight: 50 lbs.
