Posted Breed: Boxer. My name is Diamond and I'm a very sweet 4 year old boxer girl! I know what you must be thinking....just because I'm white, I'm deaf. Well, that is a big misconception about white boxers. Very few white boxers are actually deaf and I'm not. As you can see from my picture, I don't mind going for car rides or lounging with my people during a lazy afternoon! I love to run and play though so I would love a home with other dogs and a big back yard! I also love my people and have even been known to get along well with cats! I have been known to have a strong personality so I need a strong owner and fur siblings who are okay with my personality. You know what they say.....diamonds are a girl's best friend; however, I'm confident that everybody will love this Diamond! Won't you give me a forever home?

Boxer

A.K.A. : German Boxer, Deutscher Boxer
Overview: The Boxer is surprisingly good with children. This breed has a playful nature, yet is patient and intelligent. With early training, a Boxer can provide a strong and watchful companion to all family members.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 65-80, female: 50-65
Height (in): male: 22.5-25, female: 21-23.5
Colors: Fawn and brindle, both with or without white flashing and black mask.
Coat: White should not cover more than a third of the dog. Coat is short and smooth.
Character: Boxers tend to be very friendly and intelligent dogs. They bond very closely with their family.
Temperament: The breed gets along especially well with children. They also can get along well with most other dogs and household pets. They can be naturally inclined to protect a family from intruders.
Care: The Boxer can get by with an occasional good brushing.
Training: This breed needs special consideration in training to not jump on people, but it learns quickly. A consistent effort will pay off during training.
Activity: The Boxer requires a lot of exercise, including long walks and playing in the yard.
Country of Origin: Germany
Health Issue: This breed has some major concerns such as cardiomyopathy, sub-aortic stenosis, and hip dysplasia. They are occasionally prone to epilepsy and, in later years, may be prone to tumors. They have a tendency toward allergies and heart problems.
Life Expectancy: 8-10

More About Boxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Boxer. Introducing Annabelle! Hello Houston....my name is Annabelle and I'm a sweet 6 year old girl that was found as a stray and taken to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Thankfully, LSBR was contacted and sprang me from 'jail'! I'm now in a great foster home with fur siblings.....dogs and even a cat! Let me tell you a little about myself.....my foster family says I am a sweet, beautiful, wonderful, and full of love little girl. I love to play tug-o-war, hang out with my fur siblings, watch the house cat, go for even walks with the family, and especially love to cuddle with and please my family. My foster mom says that she gets so much joy from me and, while she'll be so happy when I find my forever home, she will be sad for herself because she loves me so much! Clearly I'm a special girl! Please consider me when adopting. I promise to give you affection, my total devotion, and especially love!

Posted Breed: Boxer. My name is Diesel.....such a rugged name for such a sweet boy! I'm approximately 3 years old and was recently surrendered to a shelter by my family. Yes, I'm very sad but, hey, no looking back, right?! I'm only looking forward because I know there is a perfect forever home out there for me! I'm a big boy and strong so although I'm very people friendly, I think I would do best in a home around older (ie: bigger) kids! I walk well on a leash.....until I see a cat, that is! So, I'm going to say no cats in my new home! And just to be safe, let's also say no small dogs that look like cats! Everyone that meets me compliments me on being so sweet! I'm very people friendly I was well taken care of in my former home so I know that I was loved. I understand that sometimes circumstances change and my family wanted nothing but the best for me. So here I go.......I'm single and ready to mingle!

Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). I know you are probably thinking that I don't look like a boxer but I am part boxer and part perfect. XI'm a young guy who was lucky enough to be rescued as a puppy and given a second chance at a loving home. I love to play with my toys and really enjoy play time with my fur siblings in my foster home. As you can see from my pictures, I also enjoy lounging around. What can I tell you that could make you love me more? I am house trained, crate trained, playful when you want me to be and a cuddle bug when you need some down time. They say I am the best of everything and a joy to have around. I think that is a good thing and I try to please my foster mom however I can. If you are looking for a young guy who will be your best buddy, please pick me! I am excited to meet my forever family and hope it will be you.

Posted Breed: Boxer. IN NEED OF A FOSTER HOME UNTIL I CAN BE ADOPTED! My name is Lola and like my gray face, I shine! I'm 11 years young with a lot of pep in my step! Can you believe that I was recently surrendered to the SPCA? I really don't know what I did to deserve that but, hey, I'm not looking back....only forward and I know there are wonderful things ahead for me! Yes, I'm a distinguished older girl but haven't you heard.....11 is the new 6 but age is just a number anyway! They say that I'm super sweet, very affectionate, well behaved and very people friendly as well as dog friendly. I will do best in a home with kids that know how to treat me properly. I have not yet been evaluated around cats. I know basic commands like 'sit' and 'shake', love to play and I love car rides! My previous foster mom says that I have lovely manners, I like to sleep in and good about letting them know when I need to go out! My perfect home would be one that is looking for a low maintenance pup.....someone looking for a wonderful companion that is fun to pal around with but doesn't require a ton of exercise....someone that is looking for cuddles on the couch and a sweet gray face that will always light up when you come home!

Posted Breed: Boxer. Introducing Kalona........I was recently surrendered to Harris County Animal Shelter because I was in heat! It is apparent that I've had many litters of puppies though.........Well, needless to say, I've had my last litter! I'm a friendly, 5 year old girl who is also dog friendly but I am no fan of those things they call 'kitties'. I'm in a great foster home and my foster mom says that because I am deaf, it would be great to find a home with a fur sibling that can show me the way......and be an awesome playmate! She also says that although I haven't been evaluated around kids, she thinks I'd be fabulous because I'm super easy-going! She also says that I'm a wonderful house guest! I'm already house broken and I am fine in a plastic crate (not a fan of a wire crate) but because I am such a wonderful house guest, I'm not crated in my foster home. To hear my foster mom brag on me so much makes my heart smile! As you can see from my pics, I my prior life was hard but now I'm living the good life.....being the happy, fun-loving girl I was meant to be! I'm making up for lost time....love being around my people so I would love a home with a family that is home more than they're not home! Now I know what you're thinking.....deaf? Well, don't worry.....deaf dogs acclimate to hand signals and I'm eager to learn! Haven't you heard.......deaf dogs ROCK! I'm ready to ROCK your world.......I'm sure that by meeting me, you will definitely want to take me home with you!

Posted Breed: Boxer. 3/1/17 UPDATE: I recently scored a great foster home and let me tell you, I'm having a blast! I have a fur sibling to play with and boy do we play! I'm just your average boxer....I enjoy getting my belly rubbed, I love all the attention you can give me, I enjoy the company of other pups and I have never met a toy I did not like! I'm housebroken and have adjusted well to life with one eye! Most important, I fought so hard to survive but not only am I surviving, I'm thriving! Now that I've had a taste of the good life, I can't wait to find my forever, loving home! ******************************************************************************************** 2/1/17 UPDATE: WOW....I'm looking good if I have to say so myself! To see where I started.....well, it's scary because I was....let's just say that I was rescued in the nick of time! But enough about that, I want everyone to know how well I'm doing! I'm a fun-loving guy with a hankering for toys....I just love my toys! They say that I'm a gentle guy and although I've not been around other dogs very much, I can't imagine that I'd be anything but magnificant with other dogs. As you can see, I've had a hard life. I don't want you to feel sorry for me but I don't want to sugar coat things either. I've had several surgeries including one to remove my left eye. My right eye works just fine so I'll be okay but I'm still getting used to life with one eye. Until I am comfortable with it, they say that I should be placed in a foster home with kids that are teenage or order. So, it was also recently determined that in my previous life, my back was broken at some point and, although healed, I have some arthritis that will require meds to make me comfortable going forward. I've been in boarding now for a long while and I'm really, really craving a place to lay my head other than this metal crate! I could really benefit from a loving foster home that will help me regain my strength and rebuild muscle tone! I'm like a budding flower.......I just keep getting prettier on the inside and out! Won't you consider being part of this fantastic transformation?! ******************************************************************************************* 12/6/16 Update: What a difference a few weeks makes! Take a look at my current and before pictures. I know to you I may still look like I have a long way to go but, to me, I've come a long way! I'm so happy with my progress! From here, I will only continue to make progress and will soon blossom into the handsome boy I am! I am still looking for my forever home but in the meantime would be thrilled if I could find a loving foster home to help me learn and progress even further! ******************************************************************************************** Well folks, as you can see, I've seen better days! I was rescued from the streets and taken to the shelter as a stray. From the outside, I know I look horrific right now but inside, my spirit remains unbroken! At at the moment, I'm getting the care I desperately need. They haven't even been able to determine my approximate age due to my condition. But don't worry folks, after my much needed TLC, I will be better than ever! More information about me will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

I feel like a new girl! I'm enjoying my foster home and all four of my foster fur siblings but I must admit, I'm ready for my very own family to love and dote on and it would be great if I found them just in time for Christmas! *********************************************************************************** 10/12/16 Update Hi everyone....Gretta Grace checking in! I'm now in a wonderful foster home and my foster dad reports that I'm a great girl who is very well mannered! I walk well on a leash, know basic commands, is house broken and crate trained. I share my foster home with five other large breed dogs. Because I'm a more dominant female, my foster dad made sure that I was slowly introduced to the rest of his pack to ensure a smooth transition. He says I'm just like all other boxers....I've settled in with everyone just fine! He also says that I love people and, although I enjoy lots of attention, I'm also happy playing with my chew toys! There are no kids or cats in my foster home so I have never been evaluated around either. I'm set to have surgery to fix my hip very soon. It will take me a little time to recover but I'll be better than ever and ready to go to my forever home as soon as I heal! ********************************************************************************** Meet Gretta Grace......I'm a pretty fawn girl estimated to be about 3 years old. I was found as a stray so there is not yet a lot known about me. The nice lady that picked me up from the shelter says that I'm very affectionate, I walk well on a leash, was a very good car rider and I know how to 'sit' on command! More information about me will be posted when it becomes available.

Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Bulldog / Mixed. My name is Jeff which is understandable since I was found wandering with my friend, Mutt. We are roughly 4-5 years old and not much is known about us at the moment. When we were found, we were pretty low. We had little hope of making it and had just about given up. After so many people passed us by, a nice lady stopped for us.....finally! We were overjoyed....we couldn't believe it! We were at the point of trusting anyone that offered to take us off the streets! Since we were found with eachother, it is believed that we are good with other dogs. We have not shown any aggression towards anyone or anything so we seem to be good around people of all ages. We haven't been observed around cats.
