Posted Breed: Boxer. Hi folks.........Just like Scarlet in 'Gone with the Wind', I'm a beautiful Southern girl! I am super sweet and I absolutely love attention more than anything! I'm about 6 years young and I simply love life! I am happiest when I'm spending time with my people! I love children! I have to say that I'm a little skiddish of strange adults at first....it takes me a little while to warm up, but when I do, I'm extremely loyal to my family! I love going for car rides and I enjoy my baths and nail trims! Like most younger boxers, I have a lot of energy so I would do very well in an active family! I should tell you that I'm somewhat of a prima donna.......I have what some would call a dominant personality....I like to think I have a very large personality! Anyway, having other dogs or cats in my home is not preferrable. Like most Houstonians, I have allergies but they are easily controlled by a healthy diet (from pork and pea). Well, I'm absolutely adorable! I'm also house broken and crate trained. I'm really a love bug that just wants to be the center of attention........If you are looking for a sweet girl that loves attention and expects a lot of love and loyalty in return, I'm your girl! To inquire about me, please contact Steven at 832-257-9259.

Boxer

A.K.A. : German Boxer, Deutscher Boxer
Overview: The Boxer is surprisingly good with children. This breed has a playful nature, yet is patient and intelligent. With early training, a Boxer can provide a strong and watchful companion to all family members.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 65-80, female: 50-65
Height (in): male: 22.5-25, female: 21-23.5
Colors: Fawn and brindle, both with or without white flashing and black mask.
Coat: White should not cover more than a third of the dog. Coat is short and smooth.
Character: Boxers tend to be very friendly and intelligent dogs. They bond very closely with their family.
Temperament: The breed gets along especially well with children. They also can get along well with most other dogs and household pets. They can be naturally inclined to protect a family from intruders.
Care: The Boxer can get by with an occasional good brushing.
Training: This breed needs special consideration in training to not jump on people, but it learns quickly. A consistent effort will pay off during training.
Activity: The Boxer requires a lot of exercise, including long walks and playing in the yard.
Country of Origin: Germany
Health Issue: This breed has some major concerns such as cardiomyopathy, sub-aortic stenosis, and hip dysplasia. They are occasionally prone to epilepsy and, in later years, may be prone to tumors. They have a tendency toward allergies and heart problems.
Life Expectancy: 8-10

More About Boxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Boxer. ADOPTION PENDING! My name is Lola and like my gray face, I shine! I'm 11 years young with a lot of pep in my step! Can you believe that I was recently surrendered to the SPCA? I really don't know what I did to deserve that but, hey, I'm not looking back....only forward and I know there are wonderful things ahead for me! Yes, I'm a distinguished older girl but I prefer to call myself 'seasoned'! Anyway, haven't you heard.....11 is the new 6 but age is just a number anyway! They say that I'm super sweet, very affectionate, well behaved and very people friendly! My foster mom says that I love to go for walks and romp around the nature trail near her home! I prefer not to share my home with other animals.....I love to have all attention revolve around me! Now kids are a different story.....I will do fine in a home with older, dog-friendly kids! I know basic commands like 'sit' and 'shake', love to play and I love car rides! Oh....and not only am I house broken, I've already mastered using the doggy door in my foster home. My foster mom says that I'm a well mannered, delightful girl! She says my little nub (tail) only stops wagging while I'm asleep! I'm affectionate and inquisitive! I'd say my perfect home is with someone looking for a special companion.....lots of cuddles on the couch and a sweet gray face that will always light up when you come home!

Posted Breed: Boxer. Hello Houston.....Hello USA! My name is Major and my brother, Nino, and I were recently surrendered to the Ft. Bend Animal Shelter but we are transplants from Japan! I'm about 7 years old with th energy of a 3 year old and very, very sweet! I know what you're thinking......what about those cropped ears?! I know cropped ears are so 1980 but hey, I think they make Nino and I look extremely regal! My foster mom says that I'm a strong boy and I love to play so, for that reason, my ideal home would be one without small children. I already have very good house manners and I'm house broken as well as crate trained. I 'sit' on command and am happy to go into my crate for a treat! My foster mom says that my leash training could use a little improvement so she's working with me on that....and I'm a smart boy so I'm sure I'll catch on fast! So, Major here, signing out.......I hope to meet you soon!

Posted Breed: Boxer. My name is Amrin and I'm a sweet 2 year old recently sprung from Pasadena Animal Shelter! I was found living on the streets which is no where to be I can tell you! Now I'm in a great foster home, having a wonderful time! I love family life! I have a fur sibling as well as two-legged playmates (10 and 7 years old)! What more could I ask for?! My foster mom says that I'm simply adorable and I love children! I am deaf so I hang out a lot with my fur sibling, Maddie. She's kind of like my ears so I think I would love a forever home with a fur sibling and kids! I've learned to 'sit' and 'come' on command and I'm working on 'stay'. I love a good bath and a nice walk and I love all the new things I smell on my walks! I don't like to be locked in my crate.........but that's okay because I'm a good girl in the house. At night, I sometimes sleep in my crate wtih the door open. From my time on the streets when I was having to fend for myself, I did what I needed to do to eat. Well, I haven't gotten past that so I have been known to steal food and search through the garbage! My foster family is working with me to lose that 'street dog' mentality! My foster family is just smitten with me and they want nothing but the best for me because they know I deserve it! Would I be the perfect fit for you and your family?

Posted Breed: Boxer. Introducing Kalona........I was recently surrendered to Harris County Animal Shelter because I was in heat! It is apparent that I've had many litters of puppies though.........Well, needless to say, I've had my last litter! I'm a friendly, 5 year old girl who is also dog friendly but I am no fan of those things they call 'kitties'. I'm in a great foster home and my foster mom says that because I am deaf, it would be great to find a home with a fur sibling that can show me the way......and be an awesome playmate! She also says that although I haven't been evaluated around kids, she thinks I'd be fabulous because I'm super easy-going! She also says that I'm a wonderful house guest! I'm already house broken and I am fine in a plastic crate (not a fan of a wire crate) but because I am such a wonderful house guest, I'm not crated in my foster home. To hear my foster mom brag on me so much makes my heart smile! As you can see from my pics, I my prior life was hard but now I'm living the good life.....being the happy, fun-loving girl I was meant to be! I'm making up for lost time....love being around my people so I would love a home with a family that is home more than they're not home! Now I know what you're thinking.....deaf? Well, don't worry.....deaf dogs acclimate to hand signals and I'm eager to learn! Haven't you heard.......deaf dogs ROCK! My foster mom says that I've already learned 'sit', 'down' and I 'come' when signaled. I'm ready to ROCK your world.......I'm sure that by meeting me, you will definitely want to take me home with you!

I was very scared at the kennel but am now in a wonderful foster home learning all the things I need to know to make me the perfect new addition to any family! What a difference a day makes! I'm about 3 years old and very sweet! I am enjoying the company of the resident boxers in my foster home.......I have not yet been evaluated with small dogs or cats. I am house broken and crate trained. My foster mom said that I was afraid of the neighborhood kids but I tend to be somewhat timid and shy at first around people. She thinks that with time and supervision, I will do well in a home with kids. If my smooshy face hasn't captured your attention, maybe the natural tail will! I know.....kind of interesting to see a boxer with a natural tail! I think it makes me unique! But don't take my word for it, come see for yourself!

Posted Breed: Boxer. 3/1/17 UPDATE: I recently scored a great foster home and let me tell you, I'm having a blast! I have a fur sibling to play with and boy do we play! I'm just your average boxer....I enjoy getting my belly rubbed, I love all the attention you can give me, I enjoy the company of other pups and I have never met a toy I did not like! I'm housebroken and have adjusted well to life with one eye! Most important, I fought so hard to survive but not only am I surviving, I'm thriving! Now that I've had a taste of the good life, I can't wait to find my forever, loving home! ******************************************************************************************** 2/1/17 UPDATE: WOW....I'm looking good if I have to say so myself! To see where I started.....well, it's scary because I was....let's just say that I was rescued in the nick of time! But enough about that, I want everyone to know how well I'm doing! I'm a fun-loving guy with a hankering for toys....I just love my toys! They say that I'm a gentle guy and although I've not been around other dogs very much, I can't imagine that I'd be anything but magnificant with other dogs. As you can see, I've had a hard life. I don't want you to feel sorry for me but I don't want to sugar coat things either. I've had several surgeries including one to remove my left eye. My right eye works just fine so I'll be okay but I'm still getting used to life with one eye. Until I am comfortable with it, they say that I should be placed in a foster home with kids that are teenage or order. So, it was also recently determined that in my previous life, my back was broken at some point and, although healed, I have some arthritis that will require meds to make me comfortable going forward. I've been in boarding now for a long while and I'm really, really craving a place to lay my head other than this metal crate! I could really benefit from a loving foster home that will help me regain my strength and rebuild muscle tone! I'm like a budding flower.......I just keep getting prettier on the inside and out! Won't you consider being part of this fantastic transformation?! ******************************************************************************************* 12/6/16 Update: What a difference a few weeks makes! Take a look at my current and before pictures. I know to you I may still look like I have a long way to go but, to me, I've come a long way! I'm so happy with my progress! From here, I will only continue to make progress and will soon blossom into the handsome boy I am! I am still looking for my forever home but in the meantime would be thrilled if I could find a loving foster home to help me learn and progress even further! ******************************************************************************************** Well folks, as you can see, I've seen better days! I was rescued from the streets and taken to the shelter as a stray. From the outside, I know I look horrific right now but inside, my spirit remains unbroken! At at the moment, I'm getting the care I desperately need. They haven't even been able to determine my approximate age due to my condition. But don't worry folks, after my much needed TLC, I will be better than ever! More information about me will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

I feel like a new girl! I'm enjoying my foster home and all four of my foster fur siblings but I must admit, I'm ready for my very own family to love and dote on and it would be great if I found them just in time for Christmas! *********************************************************************************** 10/12/16 Update Hi everyone....Gretta Grace checking in! I'm now in a wonderful foster home and my foster dad reports that I'm a great girl who is very well mannered! I walk well on a leash, know basic commands, is house broken and crate trained. I share my foster home with five other large breed dogs. Because I'm a more dominant female, my foster dad made sure that I was slowly introduced to the rest of his pack to ensure a smooth transition. He says I'm just like all other boxers....I've settled in with everyone just fine! He also says that I love people and, although I enjoy lots of attention, I'm also happy playing with my chew toys! There are no kids or cats in my foster home so I have never been evaluated around either. I'm set to have surgery to fix my hip very soon. It will take me a little time to recover but I'll be better than ever and ready to go to my forever home as soon as I heal! ********************************************************************************** Meet Gretta Grace......I'm a pretty fawn girl estimated to be about 3 years old. I was found as a stray so there is not yet a lot known about me. The nice lady that picked me up from the shelter says that I'm very affectionate, I walk well on a leash, was a very good car rider and I know how to 'sit' on command! More information about me will be posted when it becomes available.

We are roughly 4-5 years old and not much is known about us at the moment. When we were found, we were pretty low. We had little hope of making it and had just about given up. After so many people passed us by, a nice lady stopped for us.....finally! We were overjoyed....we couldn't believe it! We were at the point of trusting anyone that offered to take us off the streets! Since we were found with eachother, it is believed that we are good with other dogs. We have not shown any aggression towards anyone or anything so we seem to be good around people of all ages. We haven't been observed around cats.
