Posted Breed: Boxer. Butch is an 8 year old male boxer. He very handsome and wears his gray so well. Butch came in from Animal Friends of the Valley with a female boxer friend. They rode in the car together and were kenneled together while in the shelter. Butch seems to do fine with other dogs but an interact would be necessary. He is very lovable and healthy. He needs his teeth cleaned but otherwise, Butch is one tough old guy! If you are interested in meeting this silver fox please email our Adoption Coordinator at Info@lastchanceatlife.org

More About Boxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). She’s young, good with dogs, kids, and everyone she meets! Very playful and has lots of energy, so she’d be best in an active home or with another young dog to play with and burn some of that puppy energy she has! She has already been spayed and completed her medical intake exam. Contact “info@lastchanceatlife.org” for more info and submit your application online from our website http://lastchanceatlife.org.

      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Introducing “Snowflake,” our newest winter recruit, who came to us from the local shelter on a windy, cold, and blustery winter day! But there’s nothing blustery about him — he is as calm and soft-footed, like a snowflake! We approximate his age to be around 10 years young, and he needed some minor medical attention (dental work), and now he’s awaiting a forever home while spending his days with our other “littles” at the adoption center. Snowflake loves other dogs, all people, and most of all, he loves to roll over onto his back and have you rub his belly. How can you resist? Looking for a sweet, mellow, super chill Chihuahua, you’ve got to meet this little guy! Adoption applications online on our website www.lastchanceatlife.org. More info at “info@lastchanceatlife.org”

      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Terrier. Marisol is one of the sweetest, loving souls you may ever meet. She has been staying with an LCAL foster since being rescued from the streets of L.A. This has been great for her because she’s had a chance to learn the kindness of humans and how nice it is to have a safe place to stay and regular meals. Survival on the streets required her to practice caution when faced with new things and this is probably never going to completely leave her. She may always startle at a loud noise or a new busy environment. But she is ALL love. Just in a subtle way. Her boundless optimism has her ever ready to head out on any leash adventure. She enjoys meeting new people but will always prefer it best if they’re willing to reach out and show her gentle kindness first rather than waiting for bouncy doggie love from her. She’s eager to please and seems to learn quickly. If you’d like a companion who will wish nothing more from you than your steady companionship and a few adventures, you’ll definitely want to meet Marisol. Great with almost all other dogs (better off leash) Will probably do best if a crate is always provided as a safe haven A slip leash is best to allow her human to have ultimate control in scary situations. (she prefers it this way) She is about 7-8 years old If you are interested in Marisol please contact our Adoption Coordinator at Info@lastchanceatlife.org

      Mr. Wilson

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Chihuahua
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). We pulled Mr. Wilson from the shelter in Imperial County during one of our visits a few weeks ago. He found himself there as a stray, very underweight, all teeth missing, shivering in a cage … and near death. The doctors estimate his age to be 15 years young (FIF-TEEN!), and after all his medical work at MABH in Oceanside, he’s feeling MUCH better, gaining weight (with all that soft food), and enjoying life in his foster home. He is good with all dogs and kids. New locations/noises/smells make him nervous, but once he’s comfortable and not in fear of something awful happening to him, he’s all love and cuddles! His foster mom says he loves to cuddle and seeks all the affection anyone’s able to provide to him. Interested in meeting Mr. Wilson? Submit your online application from our website www.lastchanceatlife.org to schedule a meet-and-greet!

      Gracie

      rescue
      Breed: Boxer
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). Gorgeous Gracie came to us a few weeks ago from Long Beach City shelter needing ACL surgery. She was immediately seen by our orthopedic surgeon, and he fixed her up and she’s been on the road to recovery — now ready for adoption! She was kenneled with another dog at the shelter, but she came to us, she’s shown to be pretty dog reactive. We’ve tested her with a submissive, calm, stable male Boxer, and she had zero issues, so we know she’s capable of liking other dogs, she’s just very selective. For now, we recommend her as an only dog or with a calm, stable male dog. She needs some leash work, and she’s learning her basic commands with #TeamLCAL. She is approximately 6 years young and has been wonderful with all the people she’s met and those that work with her from day to day! www.Lastchanceatlife.org Please see our website for information on the adoption process and to submit an adoption application or set up a time to meet any of our adoptable dogs.
