Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). This dog is located and fostered in Tennessee. FREE ADOPTION TO APPROVED HOME! Are you an active person looking for a dog to take running, hiking, biking, or train for agility? If you are, then you need to check out River! River is a playful, fun loving Boxer mix who is always ready to go. He is highly food and toy motivated, and loves to have a job to do. River has graduated from basic obedience class and knows the commands "place", "sit", "down", "stay", "wait", "leave it", "front", and "shake". He is house trained, crate trained, knows his table manners and is a baby-gate hurdle champion. He loves car rides, sleeping on the bed (when he's allowed), working on his training and playing with his doggie friends. A household with older children would be a good fit, as he is very active and excites easily. He would be best in a home with no cats, as he thinks it's great fun to chase them. River would be great for with someone who is experienced in dog training, he does well with consistency and loves to learn. River weighs around 50 pounds and comes already neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and on preventives for parasites. Still need a reason to make this boy your best buddy? Just look at that goofy smile and his adoring eyes! River would love to see his doggie school diploma hanging on your wall! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide, so distance is not a problem in most areas. We have a variety of transportation options to bring your new family member to you. Typical transport cost to the northeast is $150, but may be less depending on your location (Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA residents.) How To Adopt | Adoption Application | Pet Inquiry Form | Long Distance Adoptions A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Adoption donations vary and are subject to change without notice. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $175 if picked up in TN, $225 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Make magic happen by falling in love with Marina, a stunning Am Staff terrier mix with beautiful almond shaped eyes, and a glossy black coat with perfect white markings. Marina is a goofy, energetic, and eager to please "luvabull" girl! At the tender age of 9 months, and weighing around 55 pounds, she is all about living life to the fullest. Marina's foster home has 3 other dogs that she gets along with, but she would also adore being the only dog as she is very human-oriented, and craves to be the center of your attention and affection. Marina can have an exuberant play style that some dogs may not appreciate. This sweet and playful girl has boundless energy, and she would enjoy being part of an active family. Marina does well on a leash when wearing her Easy Walk halter, and is always up for a walk or hike. She delights in playing with her toys and will fetch them until she gets tired or hot, and then she will find a cool place to lay down and rest with them. Marina is being fostered in a country home setting and revels in running across the fields, splashing through the creek, and riding shotgun in her foster dad’s side-by-side (ATV). She is an indoor pet that is housetrained, sits on command, and currently attends a day care facility that is working with her on other basic commands. Marina is looking for an adopter that understands what it's like to live with a playful puppy in a 55+ pound body, and, also one that is up for some serious snuggle time when the day is done. She dreams of a home with a big fenced-in yard that will allow for plenty of playtime and daily exercise. Marina's current home does not have cats, but she has been around them and is curious of them. She gets a little excited and likes to put her big muzzle right in the middle of their belly for a good sniff, so a dog-savvy cat would probably be best. Marina is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and ready to meet her forever family. Looking for a sweet, loyal young pup that is affectionate and playful to complete your family? Look no further than Marina, she will make you smile, laugh, fall in love, and wonder how you ever lived without her. Apply to adopt her today! Macey is a dreamy little dog with a big, happy personality! If you are looking for a friend who ready to play, snuggle or go for a walk, Macey is happy to do all those things and more, as long as she can be by your side. Her adorable underbite makes it look like she is always smiling. Macey does well on leash walks and likes being outside to walk and explore. Her foster family says that Macey is quiet and rarely barks. She is working on her crate training and house training and will need your continued guidance in adjusting to a new routine. We think she will catch on quickly. Macey is about a year old, weighs 12 pounds and we believe she is a Jack Russell mix. She does good with other dogs and tends to be submissive with others and is timid with new people when she first meets you, but warms up quickly with some one on one attention. She has been introduced to cats and was fine. Due to her small size, children 10+ would be preferred. Macey would love to have a family of her own, perhaps that could be with you? Tremendously fun is this terrific fur friend Toby! Toby is a 5 month old, 25 pound Lab mix boy who is ready to run right into your heart and home! This super smart dude is already crate and leash trained, and has a great start on his basic commands like Sit and to come when called. He is also doing great with housetraining and does well going out on a schedule. Toby asked us to make sure his forever family is ready for the playfulness of a puppy and also his need for patience and love as he learns all his big dog skills. Toby does wonderfully with other dogs and would enjoy a home with doggy siblings to play with. One important thing to know about Toby is that he must have had a hard life before he was rescued, as he had an old injury and needed leg surgery to repair it. He is now healed up but may always have a bit of a limp that doesn't slow him down from running and playing a bit. If you think Toby deserves a wonderful life and you have a spot in your heart and on your couch, please ask us about Toby! Breed: Siberian Husky-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat). This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $175 if picked up in TN, $225 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Jake is ready to fetch his way right into your heart! Cute, snuggly, and playful, that's Jake... he is an all around charmer who is all these things and more! Jake is a 3 year old Husky mix (maybe with something small like Chihuahua) who weighs in at only 27 pounds. He is a beautiful boy with a super stunning white coat and happy hazel eyes. He is incredibly smart and already know sit, down, shake and of course loves to fetch! Playing a game of fetch with you and a tennis ball makes his entire world go round! We think this boy is a winner indeed. He does excellent in his crate and is house trained too. Jake enjoys playing with his foster fur siblings and gets along great with other dogs, and would prefer to have an active playful dog of similar age and size to romp with. He is good with older more considerate kids, but no toddlers, please. Jake is full of adventure and fun and will make a great exploring pal this fall. Jake also knows when it's time to chill out and relax by your side on the couch. He and his little white curled tail are patiently waiting for you to fill out the application for his adoption, apply today!
