Posted Breed: Boxer / Rottweiler / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Liz (elizabethjeffcoat@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Kiki is a Boxer & Rottweiler Mix that has been confirmed via Dna testing. She is 8 years old and weighs 60 lbs KIKI IS A LOVELY, WARM-HEARTED GIRL WITH GOOD MANNERS NEEDS PLAY AND CUDDLE BUDDIES. I hate to brag, but don't you agree that brindle is beautiful? I was a stray and ended up in a shelter. Nobody came to look for me, but I was told they'd work hard to find me a family who would cherish me for the rest of my life. It sounded good, so we worked out this foster arrangement until my perfect people recognized their perfect dog! Things I love: People Tummy rubs Hot dogs Most other dogs Learning new things ('cause it leads to hot dogs) Being outdoors sometimes Being indoors (esp. next to another dog or a person) Running Being lazy Being told that I'm wonderful Things I don't love: Not having a permanent home Too much time elapsing between tummy rubs When foster mom runs out of hot dogs I have faith in my future, So PLEASE look at me closely 'cause we may be that match made in heaven! Kiki's adoption includes all vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, spay, heartworm neg, microchip including registration. If you are interested please complete our online application at www.shelter2rescue.petfinder.com

Overview: The Boxweiler is a powerful and muscular dog whose origins come from rottweilers and boxers. Therefore, they have a strong drive to protect and please their families. They have a deep chest and a double layer coat with either fawn or brindle coloring. While all puppies have lots of energy, a full grown boxweiler is not a hyper dog and does not like to wander far from its family or home. It is alert and cautious around strangers, but friendly and goofy with family and friends. Proper socialization, like with any protective dog, is key.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): 95-130 Pounds
Height (in): 24-27 Inches
Colors: Black & Brown, Dark Brown / Chocolate, Light Brown / Golden, Merle / Spotted / Brindle / Speckled
Coat: The boxweiler has a short, double coat which keeps them warm and is easy to maintain. The coat of this breed is short, coarse, thick and hard.
Character: They are very loyal companions and can be a one person dog. They can be athletic and powerful breeds, often used as protection dogs.
Temperament: The temperament of the Boxweiler breed of dog can be anywhere between that of the Boxer and the Rottweiler. They can be less aggressive and territorial than the Rottweiler but more so than the typical Boxer. They do tend to be protective. Early socialization and obedient training at puppyhood is recommended. At home they make loving and devoted family companions. The Boxweiler makes a good watch dog. They are typically friendly once they get to know you.
Care: Regular brushing and grooming maintenance is necessary to cut down on shedding. Regular ear cleaning is also advised to prevent ear irritations. Cancer is a serious health concern with Rottweilers and can be passed along to the Boxweiler.
Training: The Boxweiler is a highly intelligent breed and very easy to train. Socialization and obedience training should best start at puppyhood. Training should be with a firm, fair, consistent and with positive reinforcement.
Activity: Both parents of these hybrids are large dogs, active indoors and requires frequent vigorous exercise. Exercises keep the dog calm and reduce any chance of behavior problems in the house.
Country of Origin: USA
Life Expectancy: 10-13 Years

More About Boxweiler Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). Please contact Liz (elizabethjeffcoat@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Handsome Rex is just 2 years old. He was adopted as a pup from the Keene animal shelter. He appeared to have been passed along through a couple of owners, and finally ended up at another shelter, before being returned to Keene shelter. The power of having a microchip, may have saved his life, but he is still needing a forever home. Rex is a beautiful boy in personality and in color. He is grey/fawn color with a bit of white on his chest. He is smart and wants to please. You ask him to sit and he sits so proud and smart for you. He loves to play and enjoy a good time with you. He would be great as the only companion, but depending on the other dog he might be fine. If you are interested in adopting Rex please contact Liz at 214 616 6128. He is a courtesy post for Keene animal shelter, who strive to help the dogs find good homes.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Olive! She is a Pit Bull/Bull Terrier mix. At only 45lbs, this pretty and petite little gal is the perfect size! Olive is an energetic and fun girl who has the personality of a puppy dog, cuddly and sweet but loves to play! She loves meeting new people and is very friendly with children and adults alike! Olive is house broken and does not have accidents, she is accustomed and well adjusted to being crated, and she knows several commands (continued training would be a great way for her to bond with her new owners)! She is bubbly, always happy and ready for adventure, and she is as sweet as can be! Olive would do best in a home where she could have a doggy companion, daily walks and exercise, and lots of cuddles and love! She gets along excellent with dogs her size or larger; however, a home with small dogs or cats would not be ideal for her. The adoption includes age appropriate vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, heartworm test (dogs over 6 months), spay/neuter, and microchip including registration. Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound / Chihuahua / Mixed. Don’t let Marsh’s shyness fool you; he is an active, happy little dog that will thrive once he gets to know you and you get to know him. He is 2 years old, weighing about 10lbs. He adores other dogs and must be placed in a home with an active dog or two. Once he’s finished playing he wants nothing more than to sit close to you so you can give him a scratch or a pat. He needs a home that can provide him with a regular schedule since he is still young; think of him as a 5-year-old boy that might need to be reminded to do his chores on occasion. He is crate trained and goes into his crate at night or when his foster parents need to leave the house. He loves squishy dog beds and lots of doggy blankets to cover up with at night, and he will cover himself up when it’s time to go to sleep. He loves to play with toys and his foster brothers; often crying for his foster brothers if he is separated from them for too long, so please consider him if you have an active dog at home that needs someone to play with. Marsh wants nothing more than to be loved forever by a family he can call his own. He is a bright light that has shined a bit of sunshine in his foster family’s home. His adoption includes age appropriate vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, neuter, and microchip including registration. . He is such a great boy. He is a Labrador mix. He looks mostly Labrador, but his coloring is a little unusual. He is black, but has some brown coloring among'st it. You might think he looks like he has mud on him in his photos, but he is clean! It's just his fur. Gershon would be your typical Labrador, one that love's to be active and is playful. He gets along well with most of the dogs he has met in his foster home. He loves people, and really enjoys interacting with them. Gershon is crated when his foster mom is away from home. This ensures his safety and also keeps him from getting into something he shouldn't. After all how would he know otherwise? If you are looking for a great adventure and many years of fun with a great pal, we think he is one dog you should consider meeting. The adoption includes age appropriate vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, heartworm test (neg), neuter, and microchip including registration.
