Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hey Everyone, My name is Graham and I'm a very sweet 11 year old orange & white Brittany guy who is looking for a place to call HOME FOREVER! I love hanging out here in Virginia Beach with my foster family and playing with my foster brother Max, but what I truly dream of is a place to call my very own! Graham maybe 10 years old, but don't let his age fool you he is full of energy. He loves to go out and go walking, running and has shown some interest in birds, but not quite at a hunting level. He does well on leash but would certainly do better with continually training. He loves his belly to be rubbed and enjoys hanging out or snuggling with his people or taking a romp in the yard. This means, Graham will also NEED a secure fence in his new home to help keep him safe! Graham does well with other dogs and loves people, but cats are pretty much unknown but given his curiosity to explore and interest in other animal we advise against it. His foster Mom has been working on commands and also helping him become the perfect gentleman. Graham is house trained, does well in the crate, as well as being fully vetted to included being neutered, micro chipped and up to date on all shots and heartworm negative. HOWEVER, Graham does have a VERY SPECIAL ear condition called vasculitis that will require medication, as well as, routine monitoring by the vet BUT again this in NO WAY slows this sweet boy down! So, the only thing missing is a place to call his own-Is that your Home? If you believe Graham is the Brit you are looking for, please fill out an application online at: http://www.nbran.org/adoptappl.asp. After filing out an application please contact the coordinator for the State in which you live. The contact information for the State Coordinators can be found at the following link: http://www.nbran.org/contacts.asp. Graham is currently being fostered in Virginia Beach, Virginia and his adoption fee is 200.00, which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated with bringing Brit like Graham back to good health and readying them for adoption. However is you are a senior (over age 60) like Graham then you both qualify for the senior to senior program, which makes the adoption fee 100.00. Don't live in Virginia or close by, No Problem! NBRAN also has a wonderful transport team who will help bring Virginia to her new family, up to 1200 miles with the adoptive family being responsible for the last 100 miles, at no additional fee. Contact Leslie Trenta for information at leslie@leslietrentadesigns.com Thank you!

More About Brittany Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). My name is Albert and I am told I am the sweetest, precious boy ever. I am 8.5 years old, 51 pounds, One handsome orange & white hunk of a boy. UTD on vaccines, HW Neg, neutered, housebroken and crate trained. I am looking for my forever home whom will give me love, attention, walks, rawhides and make me their very special boy. I am on Proin, my only problem is I do leak a little at night, so I do need to sleep in my crate with a “winky wrap”. If you limit my bedtime water and put my “winky wrap” on, this will keep my bed dry. (Some nights better than others.) I am deaf, but I don’t consider that a problem as I respond to hand signals. I do love to get into the Kiddy pool and wade in it. I love my ears rubbed, so I will moan and groan for you. Even thou I am deaf, when my siblings howl due to a fire truck, I look at them and join in, my Foster Mom thinks I am just adorable. If I discover I am outside alone, I will let you know I want to be in the house with you. If you would love a precious boy like me, please put in an adoption application in for me, my Foster Mom would love to tell you my stories. From Foster Mom: Albert doesn’t like to get in the car, but once he is in the car, he loves it. Walks well on leash, does not pull badly. Does his business outside, except for leaking at night. Responds well to hand signals nicely. Loves people & other dogs. Good with cats. Lives for affection. Not picky about food & takes pills easily. Doesn’t guard food, treats or people. Not a barker. Very sweet, adorable boy. Medical Notes: I do have some grand mal seizures and I am deaf, but know hand signals. My last seizure was June 11th and 6 weeks before that. I am not on medicine, because they are too far apart and would not be good for me. Please discuss with Foster Mom as I want you to love me forever. On Proin to help with leakage. If you are interested in adopting me, please visit www.NBRAN.org to complete an adoption application. Contact Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net and/or Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com . for more information after you have filled out the application. The fee to adopt Albert in Texas is $200 to offset his vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful pets. Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for the last 100 miles.

Posted Breed: Brittany. Hi, I'm Angel, I cannot hear very well and I know the people here are talking to me because I can see their mouths moving. I'm listening with my heart and trying to understand what the heck has happened to me. One day some strangers came and picked me up at my house, I was so excited to meet new people, but they never took me back to my family. The ONLY family I've ever known; don't they love me? Don't they miss me? Don't they want me back? I sure miss them and don't know what I did wrong to end up in a big scary pen with strangers and then in this house with two new ladies that talk softly to me, at least I think they're talking softly, they have a look of love and smiles when they speak. The doors don't open in the right direction here, there are big stairs that I have trouble climbing. They leave the light on so I can see the steps and even come help me up them if I'm just too tired. There are dogs here for me to hunt with, but they're BOYS and have no manners! They just tumble out the door tripping all over each other and I patiently wait for them to get out the door like a lady should. I so love to go out hunting for critters, and smelling the fresh breezes for all the scents. There's even a big fluffy black cat. She doesn't like me very well, but I'll win her over I just know it! She'll be curled up with me before too much longer and we can enjoy a sunbeam together. As my name would suggest I'm loving and kind. Two of my favorite things are ear rubs and butt scratches. I'll let the ladies tell you more about me. Born September 12, 2003, Angel's family had her for her whole life. One week before she turned 14 they called the pound and asked them to come get her. They were moving and didn't want her anymore. It appeared that Angel spent a lot of time in a crate as her hind feathers were pretty matted and she had no muscle tone. Poor sweet Angel, with fingers crossed for no serious ailments we picked her up and got her to our vets. She's been with us just over a month and this is what we have discovered. Angel is in exceptionally good condition for an older gal. She is VERY hard of hearing and has cataracts so her depth perception is off a bit and she doesn't see well in the evening. Angel was about 10 lbs. overweight and had little muscle tone in her back end. She is gaining muscle and losing weight slowly. We've gone from a slow lumbering walk around the yard to an occasional skip, trot, and even a jog! We are taking it slow as she also has a slight heart murmur. A dental resulted in only 1 tooth lost and the rest are in great shape. We had a cyst removed from her without any complications due to it having bled in the past. Angel has a large fatty deposit on her belly that is not concerning to the vet and the decision was not to put her back under anesthesia because of her age. Affectionately nicknamed Miss Sassy Pants, Angel just wants to be close to someone who loves her. She's recently started showing us just how sweet she is. Slowly coming out of her shell, Angel is learning to respond to her first hand signal for come. She's seeking attention instead of sitting by herself seemingly shell shocked trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Due to her age and physical condition we would prefer Angel to have a new family home with little to no steps, a physical fence as she's hard of hearing, but loves to be out following her nose and hunting for critters and would love to see her be able to roam freely and safely. Angel still needs to lose weight and continue to build muscle to be in the best physical shape for her in this stage of her life Angel may not have much time left here on earth, but she has plenty of love and affection to share. If you love seniors and wish to give this gal a home, please fill out an adoption application at http://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application. Angel is eligible for our canine railroad and can be transported up to 1400 miles from Ohio at no additional charge. Once the application has been completed, you will be contacted by your state coordinator. A vet check, phone interview, and home visit will be required as part of the approval process. For more information, contact Ohio coordinator Roberta Ruck at roberta.ruck@gmail.com or Vickie Gordon at ohbrittlady@outlook.com.

Posted Breed: Brittany (short coat). Libby and Molly a bonded, inseparable pair from birth. These two little girls weigh in at 28lbs and 30lbs respectively. They are the proverbial two peas in a pod. You’ll get double everything, especially loyalty, love and kisses from these nine year old ladies that are still puppies at heart. They’re well mannered, well behaved, and loads of fun and energy. They would thrive best in a home with secure fencing to run, play, and chase critters as well as each other. They are good with other dogs. They are used to having lots of area to run, so apartment and condo living will not work for these active gals. Also, these girls are VERY vocal. They have lots to say. These sweet faces are house broken and they know how to use a pet door while their foster parents are home. They are crate trained but it’s been optional for them. Molly and Libby love to play with their stuffed toys and both love to ride in the car. They have some thunder storm anxiety and at that time they will want to be close to you for comfort until the storm passes. So if you love the happy wag of one stubby Brittany tail, then consider taking these two happy, happy, happy girls into your home! You will have a double dose of Brittany love and a double dose of stubby wags! The girls are healthy, UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative, (on preventative), spayed, and micro chipped. Their adoption fee will be $400 combined to offset their vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. These girls MUST be adopted together. Only 1 application is necessary for both girls. Please complete the on-line application by visiting www.nbran.org. The girls are eligible for our canine railroad. They can be transported up to 1400 miles from Colorado at the discretion of the State Coordinator. Once the application has been completed, you will be contacted by your state coordinator. A phone interview, home visit, and vet check will be required as part of the approval process.

I like to pick my own friends, so I’m not good with very small dogs, cats or chickens.. although my foster home has all 3 I would prefer a home without them. I could be an only dog and would love all the attention. At 3 yrs I have not been schooled in manners.. A home with time and patience is what would be best for me. A fenced yard is required, I am crate trained, house trained BUT not leash trained or obedience trained. I don’t even know shake or sit.. Do you have time for me?? Linkin needs a strong handler who is very Brittany savvy. He also needs structured daily exercise as he's a very active dog. A fence is required. It would be best if he's not crated for long periods of the day, so someone who works from home or is retired would be great. He does love to be loved. Overall a happy, rambunctious, healthy young dog. Linkin is neutered, micro chipped and up to date on all vaccinations. He is currently in foster care in Michigan. His adoption fee is $375.00. He can be transported up to 1000 miles, with the adopter driving the last 100 miles of his journey. NBRAN does require a home visit and vet check. If you are interested in Linkin, please go to nbran.org and complete an online application. The coordinator in your state will contact you. The Michigan Coordinator handling the adoption for Linkin is Joanne Denomme. Please contact her if you have any additional questions at jojodenomme@gmail.com

Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). When NBRAN heard that there was a high Brittany mix female in a shelter in Tennessee with her two babies, we just couldn't take Mom and leave the puppies behind. So we brought the "family" into rescue knowing we would be able to find good homes for each of them. This is Maple. She's a 7 month old spayed female who obviously looks more like her Daddy (not sure what he is) than her Brittany mix Momma but we can all agree she's as cute as a button. Moxie is Maple's Mom and Mocha is her sister. She is UTD on her vaccines, wormed and is ready for her forever home. Maple is good with other dogs but can be dominant in play with a dog smaller than her. She comes when called . She will chew on her bedding some. She is active and loves to play. Maple and her family are being fostered in Tennessee. Her adoption fee is $350 to offset the cost of vetting and to help us rescue more Brittanys in need. She can be transported up to 1,200 miles through our Canine Railroad. If you would like more information on Maple, please contact settertown@aol.com.

Snowy is a 3 year old Brittany/Setter mix who was an owner surrender to metro animal control because the landlord would not let them keep her. She is white and liver with freckles on her face and some liver ticking in her white. Snowy can be a little shy and skittish around new people. One of her quirks is that she gets nervous and reactive when people put their hands over her head. She may nip when this happens. She will go in a crate but would prefer not to. She's trustworthy in the house alone and really doesn't need to be crated at all. Snowy walks well on leash and is housebroken. Snowy will not come when called and it becomes a game for her.
