Posted Breed: Bulldog (short coat). Maya 3.5 year old Female 85lbs Family Friendly Best as an only dog Crate/house trained No cats Fostered in Everett, WA Hi everyone, my name is Maya and I would love to find my fur-ever home. Let’s take a moment a talk about me. My life before coming to my foster home was one of very limited life experience. For the most part up until recently my world revolved around 4 walls and very limited outdoor experience. So, if you think about that for a moment there is still a lot of the world for me to experience. I have found out recently that I love to go on walks around my neighborhood and we typically go out when it is quiet out so that I don’t get to scared. I have also been getting to go out in a thing called a car and we take a lot of trips to a place that has puppy whip which I really really like. But, my all time favorite thing to do is snuggle up next to my foster mom or dad and get endless belly rubs. I would love a day snuggling up while you Netflix all day. One thing you should know is that I snore, I know, I know it’s not lady like. But we all have little personality quirks and that just happens to be mine and you just gotta love it. My ideal home would be pretty quiet and not a lot of people coming and going unless they live with me. I am not a high energy gal, really an all day Netflix marathon is right up my ally. I really enjoy a good stuffed Kong of goodies, it is the best thing ever. If you need to leave me and go to work that is fine I will be just fine hanging out on the couch or in your bed until you come home. Just to warn you when you do get home I will be very persistent in getting some love and will be more than happy to sit with you on the couch as you take a rest from working all day. Maybe after dinner we could take a stroll around the neighborhood. Foster Mom here: Maya is a very sweet gal that just wants to be loved. Socially she will need patience and training. She is very unsure of herself around new people but if you just give her a moment she comes around. She will be an amazing loyal companion for the right family with lots of love to give. http://www.nwboxerrescue.org/adoption-form

More About Bulldog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

I’m Wanda and this is my buddy King. Apparently, King is a popular name for Boxer boys because he’s officially known as King 2017-2, I prefer to say 2.0 yet I was over ruled. We are a bonded pair; which means our future home is with a forever family together. Since I am the oldest, 11 years young, I get to tell people our preferences. Age before beauty. I am the fawn pup in the pictures and King, he is 8 years young is the brindle pup in the pictures. We love people... not like that smother you, bouncy, in your face type stuff that young pups do. We do the mature thing, stroll next to you, nuzzle hands, smile, wiggle, you know look really cute and sweet. We have each other, so we don't need other fur brothers or sisters in our forever home, but we will tolerate another submissive male. We sleep together, play together, groom each other, and quietly investigate everything as pals. Our perfect home would be with a family that is home more often than not someone to give us lots of love. Do you think that might be you? I have the manners of a 3 year old, and the energy of a 2 year old. I am potty trained, I know which toys are for chewing, that shoes and furniture are not for chewing, and I know all the basic commands. I will go in the crate if I have to, but I don’t like it. My foster parents trust me to roam the house when they are gone, and I have never made a mess! I love to cuddle and be a “shadow dog”. Sometimes my butt just gets wiggling though, and I can’t sit still. I like to play tug of war and I like to be chased around. I don’t quite understand little dogs though. People say they are dogs, but they look like squirrels to me, so I chase them. But big dogs… big dogs are my best buds! I would love a new home with a fur sibling to romp with! I also like skin siblings, but I do jump up to give hugs, so maybe only kiddos that are old enough to handle my energy. Speaking of jumping, I probably need a tall fence too. I need good parents that will make sure I never escape If you would like to adopt him, fill out an adoption application on our website www.nwboxerrescue.org Like us on facebook for more photos of this handsome boy, as well as other boxers we have available! www.facebook.com/northwestboxerrescue

Sammy 2017-2 10 yr old male 45 lbs Dog, Cat and Kid Friendly Leash Trained fostered in Woodinville, WA Sammy is a sweet older gentleman that's gone mostly deaf. Probably happened fairly recently, so he has not learned any hand signals yet, but we're getting there. He certainly seems eager to learn and please. Getting on in years, he likes his walks slow and peaceful. Doesn't pull, content in following a little behind and taking in the sights and smells. After a walk, he may need a little boost back into the car. He's always smiling, after a good nap, he does like to play some. Ol' Sam can be a bit shy to start but warms up when he knows you care. He's easy to feed and eats well around other dogs. If you want a calm and happy dog to share your life, look no further. I may look like a big tough guy, but really I'm a big goofy sweetheart. I love to go on long hikes with my foster family. Sometimes I can get a little excited, but most of the time I just like to walk next to my family. If we don't manage to get out for a walk, I'm just as happy lounging around the house, especially if I can curl up with you on the couch. I get along really well with my foster brother (a chihuahua). I was well cared for in my last home, but my owner was in the military and was not going to be able to take care of me. My foster family says I'm very well behaved. I guess other dogs chew on things or pull food off of counters, I just like to get pets and to play in the sprinkler. I had not been crated before, but it turns out these things aren't bad. I'd love to meet you (because I REALLY love to meet new people). Clyde 3 yo male 65 lbs Lg female dogs & older childern No cats Crate & Leash trained fostered in Redmond, WA Hi there, I'm Clyde, the dog who thought he could fly! I did a silly thing a few months ago and jumped off a tall balcony and broke some bones and hyperextended my wrists. Thanks to many, I've now got some snazzy new braces/boots that will hopefully strengthen my muscles. My foster family says I've been the best boy during my treatment, sweet, loving and patient. But I'm ready to find my forever home! Best place for me would be one with older kids, maybe a fur sister, and a family who is home more than not. My family should have the time to make sure I put my braces on and off before we got out and walk, pay attention to the wearing schedule and also not let me overdo things while I'm still recovering. I'll need to be seen by a vet occasionally to be sure I'm progressing. I love to go on walks, look for squirrels, smell the flowers and hug my humans. I'm a bigger boy so you will really feel it when I hop up to hug. Oh and car rides, they are the best, I love adventures! Roxy 2017-2 9 year old female 65 pounds Kid friendly Submissive male dogs ok Crate and leash trained Fostered in Springfield, Oregon Hi, my name is Roxy and I came to NWBR after spending my entire life with one family. With a clean bill of health I am looking to find my forever family to spend the rest of my days with. My perfect home would be single-level because I tend to stumble on steep stairs. I live with three other boxers right now, but it took some time to understand the pack. I still get a little grumpy when someone gets in my face or hogs Foster Mom's attention. But, I am easily corrected. Boy do I like attention and to do tricks for treats! You know what they say about needing a strong leader and good directions, I will sheepishly admit that is what I really need and like. Give me your leadership to follow and I will want for nothing more than endless scratches and to give you love. A stay-at-home person that wants me to be their one and only would be okay, yet I might do better with a strong leader and a submissive fur brother to cuddle. Mind you I may act like I want to rule the roost, yet underneath, I need a pack leader to relax and be in my comfort zone. My Foster Mom says that my eyes indicate that I have a sweet soul. If you want a snuggle buddy, I am the one for you- are you the one for me? Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Greta 10 year old female Large dog friendly (Submissive males best) No small dogs No cats Older kids okay Crate Trained Pasco, WA Hello new families! My name is Greta. I was found as a stray and brought to a shelter. Although I was a favorite among the staff, I just wasn't a happy girl. See, I tried my best to wiggle my behind as adopters walked by, tried to steal a kiss from anyone that put their hand to my cage, used my beautiful eyes to pull at their heart strings, but as much as I tried, it was the younger pups that got picked to be adopted. Its all I would dream about night and day. So the shelter reached out to NWBR to help make my wish come true. They knew someone like you would be looking for a dog just like me! I know I am not young any more but I am a good girl and have so much more love to give. I'm mature and wise and you wont have to worry about my manners. I don’t chew on things or jump on you even tho I get so very excited when you are near me. I don’t climb on furniture unless you need a couch cuddler to fall asleep with or a warm soft body to snuggle with to keep you warm and safe at night. I am crate trained and love my peanut butter Kong when I go in, although I could be left out since I am such a good girl. I am potty trained and have not had 1 accident while at my foster family's home. I may be 10 but I can run zoomies like no other and I can jump up on the bed or in the van which is pretty high. Steps are no big deal for me and I can beat you to the top every time. I walk great on a leash and am really excited to enjoy our adventure. I know how to lay down and sit. But best of all, if you got a raise at work, ran an extra mile at the gym, your Seahawks made a touch down, I can give you a high five. Yep, Im that good. I love kids but prefer older respectful ones. I'm not a fan of cats but do well with the pigs, goats and the pony. I get along with all the big dogs here. I'm best with big dogs because I am a larger boxer weighing in at 85 lbs. I would feel so bad if I hurt a little one. I would also be just fine without a dog friend as long as I have you. I have such a big heart and love to please you in any way I can. I will whine a little to let you know when its chow time if you got busy and forgot to feed me at the usual time. I love my food so to keep me at a good weight my foster mom limits the treats I get. She is just helping me keep my lady figure. So if you are looking for a great companion to love you no matter what, watch movies with, be there to listen if you had a bad day, go for a hike with, throw some balls with, and never let you down, you found me! Come make my day, my life, and give me that home that I deserve. I will give you all I have in return. Even though I've had a little rough start in life with being passed around from home to home, I'm the happiest boy in the world. NWBR placed me in a special school to learn manners and get some structure. I've done very well and am ready to seek my forever after. My trainer said I'd do best as an only fur kid and older kids preferred since I do like to push the envelope every so often. But, I make up for it with a lot of wiggles and plenty of kisses. Did I mention that snuggling is my favorite thing of all? Well, it is! I crate and would prefer someone gone no more than 4-6 hrs a day.
