Posted Breed: Bulldog (short coat). Maya 3.5 year old Female 85lbs Family Friendly Best as an only dog Crate/house trained No cats Fostered in Everett, WA Hi everyone, my name is Maya and I would love to find my fur-ever home. Let’s take a moment a talk about me. My life before coming to my foster home was one of very limited life experience. For the most part up until recently my world revolved around 4 walls and very limited outdoor experience. So, if you think about that for a moment there is still a lot of the world for me to experience. I have found out recently that I love to go on walks around my neighborhood and we typically go out when it is quiet out so that I don’t get to scared. I have also been getting to go out in a thing called a car and we take a lot of trips to a place that has puppy whip which I really really like. But, my all time favorite thing to do is snuggle up next to my foster mom or dad and get endless belly rubs. I would love a day snuggling up while you Netflix all day. One thing you should know is that I snore, I know, I know it’s not lady like. But we all have little personality quirks and that just happens to be mine and you just gotta love it. My ideal home would be pretty quiet and not a lot of people coming and going unless they live with me. I am not a high energy gal, really an all day Netflix marathon is right up my ally. I really enjoy a good stuffed Kong of goodies, it is the best thing ever. If you need to leave me and go to work that is fine I will be just fine hanging out on the couch or in your bed until you come home. Just to warn you when you do get home I will be very persistent in getting some love and will be more than happy to sit with you on the couch as you take a rest from working all day. Maybe after dinner we could take a stroll around the neighborhood. Foster Mom here: Maya is a very sweet gal that just wants to be loved. Socially she will need patience and training. She is very unsure of herself around new people but if you just give her a moment she comes around. She will be an amazing loyal companion for the right family with lots of love to give. http://www.nwboxerrescue.org/adoption-form

More About Bulldog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

I like to go for walks, or even runs if that's your thing, and then afterwards I just want to snuggle with my humans. I'm a super healthy, energetic guy and I want to be your best pal! I'm learning quickly to walk politely on a leash, and I'm picking up other good manners too. I'd love it if you could help me become a clever, educated doggie. One thing you'll never have to worry about is your carpet, I'm the most house-trained dog you'll ever meet. I had to take care of myself on the streets for a while, so I do get lonely pretty quickly when I'm left by myself. If you have another large-breed male dog he'll be able to keep me company just fine. I have lots of room in my heart for you. Do you have room in your heart for me? Kisses! I am a deaf female that absolutely loves to be around people. Since my world has no sounds I do so much better if my humans are within sight. I can be crated for short times but really prefer to be with people. I really don't like to share my humans with other animals, being deaf I just don't understand the whole animal communication thing. I have a great foster she is also a trainer and she is teaching me all kinds of cool things. Like, sit, down, a touch cue to get my attention when I'm close to you, I'm learning a marker system for communication and we're working on a long distance recall using the vibration mode on an electric collar but, because I'm not sensitive to touch, I ignore it about 50% of the time so I'm still working on that one. We're also working on a "back up" cue, a "wait" cue and an "ok" cue. My forever home needs to be committed to continued training so we can work on our communication skills together. Are you willing to work on getting to know me? I will give you lots of love and kisses if you are. Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Greta 10 year old female Large dog friendly (Submissive males best) No small dogs No cats Older kids okay Crate Trained Pasco, WA Hello new families! My name is Greta. I was found as a stray and brought to a shelter. Although I was a favorite among the staff, I just wasn't a happy girl. See, I tried my best to wiggle my behind as adopters walked by, tried to steal a kiss from anyone that put their hand to my cage, used my beautiful eyes to pull at their heart strings, but as much as I tried, it was the younger pups that got picked to be adopted. Its all I would dream about night and day. So the shelter reached out to NWBR to help make my wish come true. They knew someone like you would be looking for a dog just like me! I know I am not young any more but I am a good girl and have so much more love to give. I'm mature and wise and you wont have to worry about my manners. I don’t chew on things or jump on you even tho I get so very excited when you are near me. I don’t climb on furniture unless you need a couch cuddler to fall asleep with or a warm soft body to snuggle with to keep you warm and safe at night. I am crate trained and love my peanut butter Kong when I go in, although I could be left out since I am such a good girl. I am potty trained and have not had 1 accident while at my foster family's home. I may be 10 but I can run zoomies like no other and I can jump up on the bed or in the van which is pretty high. Steps are no big deal for me and I can beat you to the top every time. I walk great on a leash and am really excited to enjoy our adventure. I know how to lay down and sit. But best of all, if you got a raise at work, ran an extra mile at the gym, your Seahawks made a touch down, I can give you a high five. Yep, Im that good. I love kids but prefer older respectful ones. I'm not a fan of cats but do well with the pigs, goats and the pony. I get along with all the big dogs here. I'm best with big dogs because I am a larger boxer weighing in at 85 lbs. I would feel so bad if I hurt a little one. I would also be just fine without a dog friend as long as I have you. I have such a big heart and love to please you in any way I can. I will whine a little to let you know when its chow time if you got busy and forgot to feed me at the usual time. I love my food so to keep me at a good weight my foster mom limits the treats I get. She is just helping me keep my lady figure. So if you are looking for a great companion to love you no matter what, watch movies with, be there to listen if you had a bad day, go for a hike with, throw some balls with, and never let you down, you found me! Come make my day, my life, and give me that home that I deserve. I will give you all I have in return. Probably happened fairly recently, so he has not learned any hand signals yet, but we're getting there. He certainly seems eager to learn and please. Getting on in years, he likes his walks slow and peaceful. Doesn't pull, content in following a little behind and taking in the sights and smells. After a walk, he may need a little boost back into the car. He's always smiling, after a good nap, he does like to play some. Ol' Sam can be a bit shy to start but warms up when he knows you care. He's easy to feed and eats well around other dogs. If you want a calm and happy dog to share your life, look no further. Sam's gonna win your heart easy as a song. Emma 8 year old female 56 pounds No dogs Older Children ok No Cats Crate and leash trained Fostered in Portland, Oregon Hi, my name is Emma and the the only thing "senior" about me is my gray whiskers. I am an all-around 'typical' Boxer: playful, happy, affectionate, funny, and sweet. I grew up and spent all of my life with one family who took great care of me. I know all of my commands, and I go into a crate without much fuss. I could use some help learning how to heel though, but that's pretty much it! Because of my age, I am more mellow than younger dogs, but don't let my age fool you! I am just as physically agile, and I get just as excited for walks as a dog half my age. Foster Mom says that I am gentle, affectionate, and easy to manage. I am all ready to go as a lovely companion and best buddy dog! I have not been treated very kindly in my years and was found with a dangerously restrictive collar on. I have some tracheal damage from choking collar which causes me to cough a bit. The nice doctor who helped treat me thinks it will get better with time. I am a mature fella, have some general arthritis and being mature means I don't have to move fast anyway. I like nice gentle walks around the neighborhood or free time in the yard. What I would really like is a home where my people are home more often than not, and having you to myself would be the best gift ever. Older children are ok, the attention would be super, as long as it is low key. I am not hip to lots of excitement and chaos because I can't keep up and then I get nervous. I really like to nap while you rub my head, I get all buttery inside thinking about it! I still have a lot of love to give in my golden years so if you are looking for a gentle soul to return all of my pent up love, so please consider adopting me! Even though I've had a little rough start in life with being passed around from home to home, I'm the happiest boy in the world. NWBR placed me in a special school to learn manners and get some structure. I've done very well and am ready to seek my forever after. My trainer said I'd do best as an only fur kid and older kids preferred since I do like to push the envelope every so often. But, I make up for it with a lot of wiggles and plenty of kisses. Did I mention that snuggling is my favorite thing of all? Well, it is! I crate and would prefer someone gone no more than 4-6 hrs a day. I'm young so I need daily exercise or I'll find my own entertainment. Someone experienced with a larger sized dog, who is committed to helping me with my training is a must. I sit and wait patiently for my food and for you to open the door. I love to ride in the car and go on walks. I get very excited around other dogs, and I may bark when people walk by the house, but I love treats so I should be easy to train. I get too excited and jump when people come to see me so I would do best with older children. My foster family calls me a big puppy!
