    Breed: Bullypit
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: New Lenox, IL
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed. This big, brindle, boy is Alfalfa (Alfie for short). He is most likely a pittie mix with maybe some American Bulldog given his long legs. He is a middle aged guy who still has energy for long walks and play sessions with his foster sister. He is very skinny. We are working to get some weight on him. Alfie is very affectionate. He loves to be with his people. He is working really hard on being a lap dog. He can't quite figure out how to fit his long body in a lap, but he's bound and determined to work this puzzle out. He was a play group dog at CACC and has done well with his 7 year old foster sister. He pulls a bit on leash, but is non reactive. He sleeps in a kennel when home alone. He does well with blankets rather than a bed in his kennel. Alfie is a sweet soul that deserves a loving home. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Alfie, please fill out an application at www.serendipittierescue.org

Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Miko here! I'm just over a 5 year old american bull dog/pit/boxer mix who loves to cuddle and play. Even though I weigh in at 74 pounds, I'm a gentle giant. At the vet, they commented I'm "well mannered" and have "gorgeous teeth"! I think I'm unbelievably handsome myself and my fur is sooooo soft. I live in a wonderful foster home with another dog and share very well with her. She and I don't fight over toys, bones or food! I'm even going to obedience class and learning new things. It's nice to meet new dog friends too! I just got all my shots and am ready to find my forever home! I've not been around young children yet, so not sure how I'll be, but we can give it a try. You can find me at adoption events or put in an application to meet me. ========================= About Our Rescue Group: The St. Mary's Animal Welfare League is a nonprofit, rescue organization that specializes in the rescue, care and placement of abused, neglected and homeless companion animals. Our animals are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered and receive medical treatment before being placed in carefully selected homes. We strive to educate the community in areas of humane education and responsible pet ownership as well as helping to control the pet overpopulation in our area by promoting the spaying and neutering of all companion animals. ===Come Meet Our Pets: Come meet our cats every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. located at Petco in California Maryland. We also have a cat facility in Callaway. The Cat Castle Rescue Center is located in the Callaway Village Shopping Center and is open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm. Please contact info@smawl.org for appointments to meet our dogs. ===Our Adoption Process: It is the St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League’s policy to attempt to place each of our rescued animals in a home that is well- suited to their needs. Once an animal is placed from our rescue, the animal cannot be sold, given away or otherwise transferred. If the adopter is, at any time, unable to keep or continue to maintain the animal for any reason, the animal must be returned to the St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League. We work hard at matching our animals to adopters, so they may end their search for a loving, permanent home. Temperament, special needs and personality are all factors in our placements. ===Step #1 The Adoption Application The initial step in our adoption process is the Adoption Application. This can either be done online or in person. The Adoption form must be filled out completely including vet references and two personal non-family references. Your application will be reviewed and your references will be contacted. We contact your veterinarian to ensure that your current or recently deceased pets were properly taken care of---this means being current on all vaccinations and spayed or neutered. In order to speed up the process, please contact your veterinarian and let them know to expect our call. ===Step #2 Personal Interview You will be interviewed by a SMAWL Board Member or Volunteer either through phone, email or in person. This is an opportunity to learn more specifics about you, your family, your pets and the type of pet you are looking for. At this time, we may suggest that you consider a different animal---one that we may feel might be more acceptable for your situation. If you are completing your application in person, this will most likely be done at that time of completion. ===Step #3 The Home Visit If all goes well with the application verification, we will schedule a home visit. A home visit is required to ensure that your home is everything you say it is on the Adoption Application. It needs to be a suitable safe environment for your new pet. All pets and family members should be home at this time. ===Step #4 Meeting Your Potential Adoptee Once the Application has been reviewed and all references checked, arrangements will be made for you to meet with the animal you wish to adopt, either through the foster parent or the animal’s Case Manager. As a courtesy to our foster families, we do not ask them to show their animals to individuals until we have completed the application approval process. If you have other animals, we recommend a neutral meeting place, such as PETCO or a local park to ensure the animals are compatible outside of their own territory. ===Step #5 Finalizing The Adoption Once the adoption has been approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption. You will need to sign the contract and pay our adoption fee. (Young Dogs Under 1 =$300, Dogs over 1 = $250, Young Cats 2 years and under =$125, Older Cats over 2 years = $75) Foster to adopt over a two week period may be available on a case by case basis. Any applications received for adoptions from beyond St Mary's county line, will be subject to additional terms and conditions available on request. Please Remember: Our entire organization is staffed by volunteers. We have NO paid staff. Our volunteers must work your application around their business and personal lives. We do our best to respond to all inquiries within 2-3 days, and most of the time we are able to respond within 1 day. Please be patient and thank the volunteers you meet for their service to our community’s homeless pet population. === We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties: We serve the Southern Maryland area.

    Breed: Bullypit
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Blaine, MN
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Date of birth (estimated): 5/13/13 Hi I'm Sugar! I am such a sweet, chill girl! I love to snuggle, and lay around with you. I would love a casual walk here and there, or to lay on my bed and chew a bone. I would prefer to be the only dog, but I have lived with one other male dog my size and done well after we got to know each other. No cats or small dogs for me, when they run I want to chase them. I am crate trained and house trained and love to ride in the car. I walk well on a leash and am quiet in the house. I would prefer a fenced yard as I don't like strange dogs wandering over while I am outside. I like to meet my friends slowly and properly. I love kids and vegging out with my family! is it you? Adoption Fee: $300 If you are interested in meeting or adopting this animal, please read the following before submitting an adoption application on our website. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, 4Dx test (covers tick-borne diseases ( A naplasmosis , Lymes, E hrlichiosis) as well as heart worm) & de-worming. We ask that our dogs live indoors unless otherwise stated & agreed upon. We are a smaller group that typically takes on harder cases that require special homes so we ask that applicants live in our area - if you do not live in the MN or surrounding states, please contact us via email before submitting an application to determine whether the animal you are interested in is a case we are comfortable adopting out to a family out of our area.

    Breed: Bullypit

    Age: Adult
    Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed. Thank you for your interest in our adoptable animals. If you would like more information about this pet, see the Shelter information below. We would love to help you rescue a perfect pet! What can I say to help you understand that Lavender isn't just another pretty face? I mean, clearly she's got a face that could bring a blind man to his knees, but that's only the tip of the iceberg that is our Lavender. I think I will start with what I learned about her today. First she is a good girl. She sits while being leashed/harnessed, without even being asked. She is house trained. She went potty as soon as she made it outside. She is also trained to sit and lay down. She's got some age on her, we estimate her to be somewhere between 5 and 8. However, she's still spry and loves to run and play outside. She does great zoomies and will fly by you with the biggest smile on her face. When I see a dog like this I often wonder, if they can be so happy given a few minutes to play outside while at the shelter, how happy will she be when she gets to play in her own backyard with her own family every single day! She's listed as a pit bull, and I agree she's got pit in her, but if you look close at her face when she gives you the side view she's also got some bulldog somewhere in her lineage. Lavender is a lover. She couldn't get close enough to the volunteer I had helping me with pictures. When she wasn't doing zoomies she was sitting as close to him as she could possibly get. She melted every time he rubbed her head. She could be a lap dog easily. Well, except that she is 65 pounds, but hey, she could still lay on the couch and spoon! She isn't a fan of other dogs so will need to be the only dog in your family, but she's worth it. Bottom line, Lavender is so very easy to love, so come with an open heart and a leash and let her win you over. I promise she is going to do it if you give her just a few mintues! You can come in and meet Lavender now at Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center, 341 S Birdneck Road. Just ask for her (ID# 1702-1635) in the front lobby if you don't see her on the adoption floor and we will gladly bring her out to let you hang out with her and see if she steals your heart like she has mine! Thank you for thinking about adopting a shelter pup! Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center has wonderful pets available for adoption. As of December 6, all animals are now at the new shelter at 341 Birdneck Road. The former shelter on Leroy Drive is now closed. If you have lost a pet, please visit the shelter in person and often as lost animals arrive everyday. Contact Information: Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center, 341 Birdneck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 Phone 757-385-4444 (x 2) NOTE: In order to help process your request for information faster, please refer to the animal's intake number, shown next to the photo, rather than the name. This will assist us in locating the information about the animal you are referring to. All our animals are up-to-date on vaccinations and if unaltered, the animal will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You do not have to be a resident of Va. Beach to adopt a pet. Please visit these wonderful animals today!

    Jester

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Bullypit
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Mission viejo, CA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Sweet Jester is a survivor in so many ways. First, he survived high-kill Devore Animal Shelter, where he was euth listed due to several large tumors on his chest. Royce of Angels n Paws Rescue saved him and had his tumors removed, but they grew back. Using alternative treatments, he was eventually declared cancer free. Then the Blue Cut Fire nearly devastated the Angels n Paws Rescue Ranch in Devore, and Jester and all other animals had to be evacuated. We asked Royce if we could help this hand-shaking charmer while she got the ranch up and running again, and while with us, he was just diagnosed with skin cancer on his lower belly. The good news - it was an early diagnosis and five lesions were already removed. But odds are they will return. Our big boy also has arthritis in both knees, so he's on anti-inflammatories & pain relief. Jester just asks for a warm couch, cuddles and belly rubs. He wants nothing more than to please you and shake your hand. He is a big lovebug of a lug. Email cause4sbpaws@gmail.com to learn more about this Angels n Paws and Cause for SB Paws cutie.

    Breed: Bullypit
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Northville, MI
Posted Breed: American Bulldog / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Aries is a great happy boy! He loves affection and he is very eager to learn and please you. He already knows how to "sit!" and we are working on "shake", "down", and "stay!" He gets SO excited and likes to jump up sometimes to give face kisses, but we are working on his manners. We also are practicing how to walk nicely on a leash. He is potty trained and good with other dogs. He was tested with a cat and showed no interest. He takes treats gentle and would love to have a forever home where he can lounge around chewing on a bone all day. All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. Please fill out an adoption application and start the process for your new family member! AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess. BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!

    rescue
    Breed: Bullypit
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Mission viejo, CA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Bruce was found weak and deydrated on a pile of trash along the side of the road in Rialto. A good Samaritan nursed him back to health and kept him safe as long as possible, but he wound up at high-kill Devore shelter. In a panic he would be euthanized for space, she went and adopted Bruce to get him out. She said he was just too sweet and deserving of a good life to die there. The only problem is, she cannot have Bruce where she lives, so she has him in boarding until she can find Bruce a home. Please consider sweet Bruce! He's very gentle, loves people including kids, and is great with other dogs. Neutered, chipped & fully vaccinated. Email cause4sbpaws@gmail.com!
