Posted Breed: Chihuahua. Hi my name is Rhodie My foster Mom found me in the Road out in the country in Madera. I am happy she found me I was hungry and people kept yelling at me but no one stopped. When she stopped and opened her door I jumped in. Life is much better now. I know how to go potty outside. I like to play with my friends and to cuddle with my foster Mom. I walk well on a leash and I can sit for a treat. Mom is teaching me other things she said I am pretty smart. I am working on not chasing her cats it is hard they run I chase. I blame them. I love visiting the neighbors Mom takes me down so I can play with the little Boy. He is fun he runs around with me and gives me treats. {s3344code3031/} All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption. Chihuahua

Overview: The Chihuahua is a tiny bundle of joy. Kids love him ' and for good reason. This breed seems always excited about something. They do best as an indoor dog, but they love to scamper around in the yard ' in suitable weather.
Breed Group: Toy
Weight (lbs): 6
Height (in): 6-9
Colors: Any.
Coat: Smooth with soft, glossy hair or long with soft straight or wavy coat and fringed ears.
Character: Chihuahuas are very intelligent little dogs that are much more brave than their small size suggests. They often bond with only one person.
Temperament: This breed usually lives with other dogs and cats very easily. Children should be taught how to play with this small dog as many try to treat it as a toy.
Care: The Chihuahua requires occasional grooming with a brush and comb. Trim claws and check teeth on a regular basis. Care of the long coat entails brushing 2 to 3 times a week.
Training: This breed is eager to learn, so don't let the small size deter you from properly training him.
Activity: Chihuahuas can typically get sufficient exercise by playing indoors.
Country of Origin: Mexico
Health Issue: This breed has a short nose and large eyes, which can cause some problems (e.g., wheezing, dry eye, glaucoma). They are prone to slipped stifle, gum problems, colds, stress, and rheumatism.
Life Expectancy: about 15 or more

More About Chihuahua Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

But once I trust you i'm the most trusting guy. my foster mommy can do everything with me and i would never bite her. I am crate trained because i pick on another timmed foster dog in my home. so I stay in my crate while my mommy is away. I love standing up on the bed and mommy tickles my belly and i flop on to my back then happily pop back up for more. My ideal home would be with someone who does not get visitors or lots of really doggie friendly ones. I've come really far in a short time but i still require human socialization. I WILL LOVE YOU IF YOU GIVE ME A CHANCE {s3344code3031/} All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption. My name is Sammy and I can't wait to find my forever home, where I can relax next to my new person, and show them how much I love them! I get a little shy at first, but give me just a little time, patience, and love, and I will be your best friend forever! I would love to spend time with you, maybe relaxing and watching a movie together, or working in the yard...I have soo much love to give!! I am not a young whipper snapper, so my foster mommie says that I would do best in a home that is quiet and not too active...and I just don't seem to have the patience for the little ones, so probably best if the kids are out of the house:) You can call my foster mommie Brenda at 559-299-6364 or email brenda@animalcompassionteam.com for more info on me!!! {s3344code3031/} All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption. Posted Breed: Dachshund / Mixed. Please contact Joyce (joyce@animalcompassionteam.com) for more information about this pet. Steve, a 5 year-old dachshund mix, is a happy, loving boy who is friends with all he meets. Due to his IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), Steve is looking for a family that can provide him with a quiet, low-key life. IVDD is a condition that affects many long-backed breeds (such as dachshunds and corgis). It can be managed and Steve can have a happy, healthy life in an environment that includes no jumping (on/off furniture; in/out of cars; etc.) and no rough-housing (with people and dogs alike). Steve enjoys long walks, cuddles and just being with his people. He would do best in a home with either no children or older children who understand to be gentle with him; he does well with other dogs and would be best suited for an older, calmer dog sibling; cats OK. Steve is a great dog who just wants to be loved and to love with all his might. {s3344code3031/} All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption.
