Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Introducing Mr Regis! Regis loves to cuddle and give kisses. He loves to go for walks and he loves his people! He is used to a home with another dog so that would be best for this loving little gentlman. His foster doesn't have cats but believes he will be fine with them because most cats are bigger than he is. He is crate and house trained. Because of his age and size a home with older dog savvy children is a must. To meet this baby go to www.rescuerovers.org

Chihuahua

Overview: The Chihuahua is a tiny bundle of joy. Kids love him ' and for good reason. This breed seems always excited about something. They do best as an indoor dog, but they love to scamper around in the yard ' in suitable weather.
Breed Group: Toy
Weight (lbs): 6
Height (in): 6-9
Colors: Any.
Coat: Smooth with soft, glossy hair or long with soft straight or wavy coat and fringed ears.
Character: Chihuahuas are very intelligent little dogs that are much more brave than their small size suggests. They often bond with only one person.
Temperament: This breed usually lives with other dogs and cats very easily. Children should be taught how to play with this small dog as many try to treat it as a toy.
Care: The Chihuahua requires occasional grooming with a brush and comb. Trim claws and check teeth on a regular basis. Care of the long coat entails brushing 2 to 3 times a week.
Training: This breed is eager to learn, so don't let the small size deter you from properly training him.
Activity: Chihuahuas can typically get sufficient exercise by playing indoors.
Country of Origin: Mexico
Health Issue: This breed has a short nose and large eyes, which can cause some problems (e.g., wheezing, dry eye, glaucoma). They are prone to slipped stifle, gum problems, colds, stress, and rheumatism.
Life Expectancy: about 15 or more

More About Chihuahua Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Bodie

      Breed: Alaskan Malamute
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Alaskan Malamute (long coat). Adoption Fee: 150.00. AVAILABLE! Meet this beautiful big boy named Bodie. He is a 4-year-old Malamute male who is neutered, current on all shots and microchipped. He is a true arctic breed who loves to talk and tell you stories of his ancestors. While he is stunning, striking and so much more, he needs a special person to be his human, could this be you? OFFERS- Bodie walks great on a leash and responds quickly to leash pressure. Bodie knows all his basic commands like sit, down, come etc. Bodie is house and kennel trained. Bodie is great with kids, but would prefer one’s OVER 10 due to his size. Bodie loves to go for car rides and walks, and if you run you are his hero. Bodie goes to daycare 2-3 times a week and loves it. While he doesn’t rough house with the other dogs, they do all run around together and interact. Bodie is treadmill trained for the days when outside is just not possible. NEEDS- Bodie is a big dog who didn’t have a lot of boundaries growing up so he needs them now. Structure is a must, as is a confident owner. Bodie must go to a training class upon adoption so his transition is smooth and he doesnt loose all the training he has had. Bodie must also go to daycare 1-2 days a week for the first 2 months to make sure he is behaving himself and they can offer any training help the adopter might need as well as socializing in addition to mental and physical workout. Bodie is okay with dogs at daycamp but must be an only animal at home. Smaller animals trigger his prey drive and he isnt a playful boy so dogs his size who want to play can make him upset after awhile. Bodie weighs between 125-135 pounds so he needs someone experienced with BIG dogs as well as arctic breeds. If you would like to meet this big boy, please apply today at www.rescuerovers.org.

She is a 7.5 year old Am bulldog mix female who is a sweet girl looking for a few older kids and their parents to call her own. She loves to play with kids and cuddle up for book time and even sleep on the bed if no soft stuffed animals are left down. Betty is house and kennel trained, walks well on leash and takes treats very gently. We dont know a great deal about her life before coming to us, but she does have several chemical burns across the top of her head. The hair has grown back on most of it but probably will never come back on her ears. She does however need to be the only pet in the home. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Meet beautiful Salinas. Salinas is about 6 1/2 to 7 months old. We are not sure what she is. ....lab and something BIG! Salinas is smart and timid She is shy with new people and situations but once she is comfortable, she is a happy, lovable girl. Salinas came to us afraid and with no idea about people, houses, leashes and toys. She loves people she knows, houses with beds and treat are the best. She can walk on a leash but get nervous and will need to gain more confidence..just some work and she will be fine. She sleeps in a kennel at night and will go in and nap during the day. Probably a more experience dog person would be best and someone who will continue his training. With her size and she will get bigger, older children would be best.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 150.00. ADOPT ME PLEASE! My name is Mirasol , I'm a very sweet dog and I have a fun loving personality. One of my favorite things is cuddling next to my humans. I'm approximately 2 years old, I am crate trained and potty trained, love humans, especially ones that let me cuddle next to them in bed and on the couch. I have so much love to give. I am dog selective but have made great progress with learning that I don't mind other dogs. I still need work in this area and will need an owner who understands that. My Foster Mom says I need someone who can commit to training by enrolling me in group classes. Training is for the benefit of dog and owner. I'm a great dog but I would love to learn more with my forever family. I recommend K9 Training Center or Kudos 2 Canine. If your interested in adopting me, please clink here to fill out application. http://rescuerovers.rescuegroups.org/forms/ Once approved we would love to do a meet & greet. Adoption fee is $150.00 which includes Neuter, Rabies, Microchip, DHPP, Bordatella and me for that price.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 75.0. t’s true that my looks have faded a bit. Some gray has replaced the beautiful brindle coat I once had. But inside, I still feel like the puppy I once was. If you want to go for a walk, I’m ready! I'm ready! I've come to learn that my sweet spot is 20-30 minutes and I'm set for the day. So if you're one to watch Netflix rather than run a half-marathon, we could be best friends! In my youth I used to like to chase the kitties, and sometimes I still like to relive the dream, so a cat free home is best for me. I’m not going to be friends with EVERY dog I meet. I am selective in who I let in my inner circle, so I would need a fur brother or sister that jives with my lifestyle! There are advantages to being 8 years old, and I’ve learned many things. I know I’m not supposed to potty in the house, so I don’t. I don’t chew things up, I don’t jump fences (or even baby gates) and if you want to leave me in the house by myself while you go out, I’ll hold down the fort for you…not tear it up. But most of all, I know about love. And I have a lot of it to give. I love all people but I am a big boy, and getting a bit clumsy, so I may knock small kids over. If you have a soft bed, a big heart, and room in your family for an older fellow, please apply to meet me!

Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 150.00. Hi I’m Pepper Ballerina, but my friends all call me Pepper. Are you looking for a mellow buddy to go on walks with, or someone to hang out by your feet while you relax in the evening? If so, I’m your girl. I’m about 7 years old so I like to relax, but I also love going on walks and hikes. I enjoy running around as fast as I can and playing with my foster brother, but not for too long. I’m pretty easy to get along with, I’m really just looking for an active but stable and calm family who has room for a dog bed and a couple bones for me to chew on. There are a couple things I really don’t like though … Fireworks and thunderstorms are really scary. It helps to know I have somewhere safe to go. Cats and small dogs are things that I really want to chase, I may be getting a little older but can move pretty quick when I’m motivated. I like playing and being around dogs my size and bigger though. Children can move fast and be really loud and unpredictable and I’m not a fan of loud and unpredictable so I do not like them. I’m fine staying in a kennel while you’re not home and I’ve never had an accident in the house. I love my people and love getting attention from them. Some dogs wag their tail when they’re happy, but that’s not enough for me. I wag and wiggle my whole body when I’m excited. Sometimes I even try to talk to tell you how happy I am and give you a little growl/ yowl to let you know. If you think you have a place in your home and heart for me, apply at rescue rovers.

Posted Breed: Collie / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. This big furball is a perpetual puppy trapped in an adult body, everything seems new and exciting to him like he’s experiencing it for the first time. He loves to play with himself, people and dogs (though he’s still working on improving his play skills with other dogs). He enjoys going on his evening runs and is improving on his leash skills as he goes, because of these things he would really thrive with someone more active that can give him the love and attention that he wants and needs. His young puppy nature has all the fun aspects of his fun and playful nature but it does also mean that he still needs a little help learning about some boundaries. In previous homes, he learned to he can use his size and body to get his way and people will let him do what he wants. He’s made some great progress in his foster home but he’ll need someone that can follow through with his training and make sure that he’s still being given the proper boundaries to help him continue to succeed in life. To help with this Kabuki’s foster dad, who is a trainer, will be donating his services to help teach Kabuki’s new home what they’ve been working on and how to help him transition into his new family.

Posted Breed: Cairn Terrier (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 150.00. Hello, my name is Mimi Anne; I am a 10 year old female Carin Terrier and I’m looking for my Fur-ever home. I’m a light little lady I weigh in at about 5 pounds so I don’t eat too much; I like Eukanuba small bites and treats of any kind. I am house and crate trained. Overall I’m a super great dog, I hardly ever bark. I can be a little shy and skittish, takes a bit of time for me to trust you. My foster Mom thinks I might be partial deaf and blind as I bump into things sometimes and don’t answer very well when she calls my name. I like people of all kinds, and I’m great with other dogs, not sure about cats as my foster Mom does not have any but I am smaller than them so it should be okay. I spend my days lounging around in my doggie bed or in my crate. However I am also good on a leash and love to go on short walks. Due to my age and life before rescue I do have accidents in the house occasionally but my foster mom has found diapers work great and make it so I can roam freely. Car rides are my favorite, I like to ride right on your lap and look out the window wherever we are going. I am one of the kindest old ladies you will ever know and I have the most beautiful green eyes. If you have room in your heart for this old gal please apply today at http://rescuerovers.rescuegroups.org/forms/ Mimi Anne’s adoption fee is $75 and includes her shots, Bordetella, rabies, microchip and spay. She has also just had a dental cleaning and a few teeth pulled.
