Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Pet (information@pethelpersinc.org) for more information about this pet. Minnie, Harley, Chip and Rocky came from a Kentucky hoarding situation. When we first brought them home they would not even come out of their crates. They are still scared, but we are making a lot of progress. They get along great with other small dogs, they are now following me all around the house, and they absolutely LOVE toys. However, they aren't really sure yet of other humans and being touched. They are all under 2 years old, all under 7 lbs, and cute as buttons. With some time and patience, they will make their person a very loyal and loving friend. They are all available for adoption. We would prefer someone with some rescue experience, as it is going to take a good deal of patience, understanding, and some one on one time to get them to where they need to be. Their adoption fee is $150.00. They have been vaccinated, spayed, neutered, wormed, and flea treated. If you are interested in giving these babies a new forever home, please email adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org and request an application. For more information on this animal email adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org. Pet Helpers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster based volunteer rescue located in Fairmont, WV. We do adopt out of state to approved applicants, if you are willing to drive to WV to pick up your pet. We do not fly or use transport companies. Our adoption fee is $150.00 for mixed breed puppies and adult dogs, $225.00 for full blooded puppies and adult dogs and $50.00 for cats and kittens. Regardless if the animal is a mixed breed or full blooded they are spayed/neutered prior to adoption IF they are old enough. If they are too young at the time of adoption, then it is your financial responsibility to spay/neuter the pet by the age of 6 months and you must provide proof for our files that it has been done. All of our pets are checked by a vet, given the shots appropriate for their age and any other treatment deemed necessary by the vet. All of our pets are adopted as indoor pets and are not be outdoors tied to a box 24/7. The pet you are adopting has been living in a home with a foster family. You are expected to take possession of the pet you are applying for within a few days of application approval. This will enable us to accept another pet into that home. Because we are a rescue, and believe that spaying and neutering is crucial in stopping the reproduction of unwanted puppies/kittens and massive amounts of animals dying daily in shelters across the country, we expect any animal already in your home to be spayed/neutered. If for any reason you are unable to keep the pet you have adopted you are required to return them to Pet Helpers, Inc. They are not to be sold or given away. Check us out on Facebook!!!!!! We hope you will give us two paws up, like our page and share with your friends. Pet Helpers, Inc.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Fairmont, WV
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Pet (information@pethelpersinc.org) for more information about this pet. Dozer can not understand why no one has wanted to add him to their home. This handsome boy can be so sweet once you earn his trust. Dozer is a wire hair terrier who came to us several months ago with several other dogs who were not in very good condition and all the others have since been adopted. He prefers to be the only dog and needs a home where there are no kids. He can also be playful and enjoys a good squeaky toy. He is crate trained but sometimes grumbles when time to go in there. Because of his past he is not one hundred percent house broke but if you are vigilant about taking him out then he will do very well. A fenced-in yard is preferred but that is not a deal-breaker . We Believe Dozer to be around 6 years old and he weighs approximately 17 pounds. He has been neutered and is up-to-date on shots flea treated and wormed. His foster mom says he is a very special boy and says that he has come such a long way since she has had him. If you are that special person that wants to give this boy his forever home please request an application at adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org he is currently being fostered in Clarksburg West Virginia For more information on this animal email adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org. Location: Fairmont, WV
Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Pet (information@pethelpersinc.org) for more information about this pet. Roxi is believed to be an American Bulldog/Boxer mix, 5 years old, weighing 77.4 pounds (so is on a diet to lose a few pounds and loves her green beans and pure pumpkin that supplements her dog food). Roxi is a little timid at first and shows it by being a little stubborn, but once she feels comfortable with you she is a lovebug. She is crate trained (but it really doesn't seem to be necessary), housetrained and does best with dogs similar in size after a proper introduction. Roxi has not been kid tested in her foster home, but grew up with children. She will sit on command, catch a treat when tossed and shake paw. Roxi is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, has been given dewormer and is on monthly flea preventive. Her adoption fee is $150.00, she is fostered in Fairmont, WV. Posted Breed: Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Pet (information@pethelpersinc.org) for more information about this pet. Hey, remember me? I'm Greta and I'm still here waiting for an amazing family to sweep me off my paws. I'm approximately 3 years old and my past was not the best before Pet Helpers rescued me. When I first came to my foster home I was such a scared little girl with a litter of puppies. But my foster mom loves me so much and has taught me that people are good. She said be patient the right family will come along. I love all the other dogs and cats in my foster home. I'm a little shy at first but once I trust you and you give me time to warm up to you I will love you like no other. They also say I look like I have some dachshund in me. I'm an average-sized gal weighing about 16 to 17 pounds. I am fixed up to date on shots flea treated and waiting for you to love me and give me a forever home. I definitely need a fenced-in yard and probably would be better in a home with no little children. Because of my previous situation I still have an accident in the house once in awhile but my foster mom says it's okay she understands. But I'm doing really really well and it's not very often that this happens. I am crate trained so I have no problem staying in there while you were at work. If you are interested in me please request an application at adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org. I am being fostered in Clarksburg WV. This super sweet fun and playful boy is approx 1 year old weighs 17 pounds . We are guessing him to be a terrier mix. He wants nothing better than to please and be close to his person. He's getting along very well with the other dogs in his foster home. He doesn't care for the crate too much but because of his energy he definitely needs to be crated when not home. We are working diligently on the house breaking. With Patience and consistency and he will get it. He is not built for apartment life. Oakey is neutered, utd on shots, flea treated and wormed. Posted Breed: English Coonhound / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Pet (information@pethelpersinc.org) for more information about this pet. Remember Hank?? Hank continues to search for his forever home. He has been in foster care since December when his owner abandoned him, and he was pulled him from a kill shelter. Hank is a very lovable eight year old hound. He loves cuddles on the couch, and he loves constant attention. He plays well with other dogs. Hank is a special needs dog. He is blind in one eye, and he sometimes has a little difficulty with depth perception. This disability causes him to get under one's feet, but he means no harm. Due to his food aggression, Hank would do best if placed in a home without other animals. Definitely a home without cats!! He needs a loving home to live out his senior years in luxury. If you are willing to give this senior dog a chance, email adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org. He is being fostered in Clarksburg, WV. Fraul loves to sit in your lap and cuddle and walks well on a leash, due to her limited eyesight you need to be vigilant and consistent with potty breaks, she gets along well with other small dogs and does well in a crate. Posted Breed: Rottweiler / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Pet (information@pethelpersinc.org) for more information about this pet. Ava is a 2 year old Rottie mix who was an unclaimed stray. We believe she has been an outside dog but picked up the crate training and house training really fast. She is around 40-45 pounds, vaccinated, spayed, wormed and flea treated. She has learned to sit in just a couple of sessions so she will be easily trained if you take time to work with her. She is a little high energy at times so she will likely do best with an active family who can give her plenty of exercise. Ava is used to a fenced yard so she still needs some leash work. Ava would love to have a running partner or someone who likes to hike. She loves to run but also likes to snuggle once her energy is burned off. Ava would prefer to be an only dog so she can have all of the attention but she does well with non-dominant similar sized dogs if given time to adjust. Ava is fostered in Fairmont, WV, adoption fee is $150. Email adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org for an application. For more information on this animal email adoptionisforever@pethelpersinc.org. Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher. Ruby is a Min Pin mix who weighs around 25 pounds. She is estimated to be around 5-6 years old and was rescued from animal control. She is very sweet with people and seems to be housetrained. She does better with male dogs or dogs similar in size but can be a little snippy with them on her initial meeting. Once she has a little time to get used to them she does fine so she will need a slower introduction. We were told she lived with 2 male dogs of similar size. She is a happy little girl and loves to share kisses. There are no cats in her foster home so we don't know how she is with them yet. She has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, wormed and flea treated. Ruby is fostered in Fairmont, WV, adoption fee is $150. Email information@pethelpersinc.org for an application.
