Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Please understand that we get many applications for our available dogs. We review each application and do our absolute best in choosing a home that best suits each dog and his/her needs and personality. Fostered in Hesperia, CA. Picked up pregnant from the Riverside shelter, whelped 3 pups. Sage came in way underweight & suffering from neglect. Sage is a very sweet older girl. She loves to be with you and wants to be in your lap. She does not like rowdy play with other dogs. She is a house guardian. She has typical small dog lap aggression. Sage would be a good emotional support dog. Needs a lap of her own. Quite house. Retired couple. Single woman. No other dogs. Birds, fish, lizards OK. Alert barker, probably not good in an apartment. She's pretty much house trained... .but if I'm gone too she still has accidents, even though she can work the dog door. She's had a rough life....so some should feel really good at making the rest of it the best it can be. Sage is being fostered in CA

More About Chiweenie Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

We review each application and do our absolute best in choosing a home that best suits each dog and his/her needs and personality. Fostered in Kansas *** adoption prnding***Okay, Piper is officially ready to go! Piper bio: Piper is a 1 year female spayed toy xolo. She is a little over 9 pounds of long legs and high energy. Piper loves her people, and wants to be where you are at all times. Like many xolos, she is shy with strangers, but warmed up quickly to both her foster mom and foster dad. The moment you sit down, Piper will be curled up in your lap. Piper is great with other dogs and loves the house cat. She does enjoy the sound of her own voice (especially at meal times or when there is a dog on TV) so future adopters should be aware of this. She is very crafty: be ready to stop her leaping into your lap to steal a bite of dinner, or jumping across the backs of the furniture to get to the ball first. Piper is very active and playful, she loves squeaky toys and balls. She would do great with a canine friend of any size. She is learning to walk politely on a harness. Piper is about 70% percent housebroken. She is excellent in her crate and will not potty in her crate, but she is very good at holding it until she can sneak off to pee. Piper was surrendered to a rescue, who then transferred her to NakedK9 due to her extremely severe allergies. When Piper first arrived to Nakedk9, she had chewed all four feet until they bled and had bleeding sores and scabs all over her body. Her ears are also permenantly scarred due to her severe head shaking. We have determined Piper has an environmental allergy, and she has responded very well to a prescription allergy medication and her skin is completely healed. It is likely that Piper will need allergy medication for life, or her new family will need to commit to allergy testing and desensitization injections. She is going to be a bit more expensive to her new home than the average dog. Her medication will be about $60 every 4-8 weeks for the cytopoint injection, with the possibility of allergen immunotherapy at some point. Piper's ideal family wants a smart, active, highly affectionate dog and has plenty of love and one on one attention to give her.

Fostered in Michigan Biography (tell us about your foster dog you are fostering : George is an active fellow that will need a lot of exercise and training. He is an obedient boy who loves to play and run. He seems to be house trained. He gets along well with my dogs although must be supervised as he likes to play rough and one of my dogs is 5 lbs. I will update this as I have more info on his behavior. He is a powerful active dog that needs a ton of exercise. He loves to sleep in my lap or next to me on the couch. Has to be rem inded that baby gates are not optional. 'Update September:: He is definitely house trained, and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He loves to meet new people and thinks everyone is coming over just to play with him. Men, women, children. He seems to like everyone and is not afraid at all. Only barks when letting us know someone is walking down the street and then it's only a warning bark. He loves to snuggle and loves to nap on the couch curled up in my lap or in the bend of my arm. He will need a lot of exercise as he is an active boy. Plays fetch and actually brings the ball back and drops in for you to throw again. He's all about going places. Great in the car and great at the store. Not afraid of people he meets in stores and lets everyone give him a scratch. We review each application and do our absolute best in choosing a home that best suits each dog and his/her needs and personality. Hi! Hi! HI! I'm Ollie and I LOVE to jump! I am up to date on my vaccines and neutered. I do have dry eye which will require drops for the rest of my life. I also have no ear canal on one side, but I can hear the fridge open NO problem! Mom says maybe I should have been called Tigger because I like to jump so much! Tigger is kind of close to Lion - and I HATE the Detroit Lions. Mom thinks it's funny to put my Lions shirt on - but I show her - I take it RIGHToff! If you have a big heart and aren't afraid of eye drops and lots of love and someone I can JUMP with - apply to adopt to adopt me! Oh but NO Lions fans, PLEASE!
