Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Pug / Mixed (short coat). Devon is finally ready to go out into the big world! Or at least to his loving forever home. He is fully housebroken, good with other dogs (his foster sister is a border collie), and ok with cats (as long as they don't get all the attention). Devon loves to cuddle! He tends to be a bit exclusive, but his foster family is working on that. Altogether Devon is a smart, adorable loving "chug" with a cute underbite; any family would be lucky to adopt him! Devon is about 6 years old. Adoption fee for adult dogs is $175, which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations to date, microchip, and heartworm testing. Please apply at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this dog. We will get back to you right away! You can also call us at 754-200-1738 and leave a message if you have any questions, but the very first step to adopting a dog is filling out an application. Thanks!

More About Chug Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat). Tiara, was born 2/14/13 and weighs 58lbs. This sweet girl is a people pleaser, that wants to be right next to you at all times. She gives the best kisses while laying across your whole body. One part of her has to be touching her human while sleeping. She's very smart, picking up basic commands quickly. Someone will be very lucky to have her as a companion. She was hit by a car on the streets and picked up by Broward Animal Control. She had some love, but was neglected which is why she came to Good Karma. I think she would adapt to any home. She could be very laid back and hang with you on a couch, but she loves to go for frequent walks. I really believe as long as you give her love and a bed to sleep on she would be perfectly content. Due to Miami-Dade breed restrictions she cannot be adopted in this county. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Please fill out our application at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org if you are interested in meeting or adopting this dog and we will be in touch right away!

      Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier-Unknown Mix

      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Zoey is a playful and energetic born in 2010, 50 lb gal. She was recently busted out of boarding where she lived for the past 8 months. She had been living in an abandoned house with her sister Bella Boo, who was rescued at the same time. Now it is Zoey's turn. Zoey loves to play fetch, cuddle and go swimming. She is house trained and though she gets along with other dogs and cats, she is pretty sure she would want you all to herself. She does say that she MAY like an older and/or quieter furfriend... but maybe not! With her winning personality though, she may be all the dog you would need. Give her a bowl full of Nutro dog food, a cozy bed and a kiddie pool and watch her enjoy life. Due to Miami-Dade county regulations she cannot be adopted into this county. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed. Oooh, how we love our "furocious" little dragon girl! Actually, the only thing ferocious about Kaida Dragon is how cute she can be! Though she only has one eye she manages perfectly and keeps an eye on her foster mama all day. She has absolutely perfected the “puppy dog” face and she will use it to get whatever she wants, whether that is extra snuggles or a treat. Being a middle-aged pup hasn’t stopped her from being playful and she loves rolling around on her back until she gets a belly rub. If you want to get Kaida Dragon excited, just grab her leash! She loves exploring on walks and just getting some fresh air and, since she is small, they don’t have to be very long. She’s a loving and loyal dog and she will make a great companion to a lucky home. Kaida Dragon will do well in all sorts of home, and is the perfect low-maintenance pet! She likes to sleep and lounge close to the ground, on her own blanket or bed. She's very submissive with other dogs and will do great in a home with other sweet pups. We think she will be great with kids, although preferably older ones due to her small size! Kaida is about 8 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. Adoption fee is $250 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Sue Ellen is happy & loves life -- and wants to share it with you!!! Sue Ellen had a rough start. She came to us as a skinny new mom to eight sick puppies who were all stuck in a sweltering shelter that had no air conditioning. She was SO happy to leave the shelter she spent her whole freedom ride looking out the window and wagging her tail. Despite her beginnings, Sue Ellen turned out to be a VERY happy and sweet girl. She is a two year old, 40 pound lab/staffie mix. She loves attention from people, which we don't think she had much of in her former life unfortunately. She even loves to be bathed and toweled off! She is great with other dogs even when they aren't so great to her! She lives very peacefully with another 50 lb dog and three other 10 lb dogs in her foster home. Sue Ellen is house-trained. She is an easy going girl who likes to sit by you on the couch or snooze in her crate. If you want to be part of Sue Ellen's fairy tale please apply now! Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Margarita (AKA Daisy) has been through the wringer in her short life. According to the woman who rescued her, she had never lived in a house previously. She was originally found by people as a puppy, and her mother was hit and killed by a car. She was always kept outside of the house in a backyard filled with junk, but was given some food. The people lost their house to foreclosure, and moved on without Margarita. During the time that she lived outside that house she had at least 1 litter that we know about. When she came into the rescue initially she was heavily pregnant, and we raised and adopted out her babies. We tried placing Margarita as a service dog, but her background left her with too many fears. This girl has SO many wonderful qualities! She is completely housebroken and went through a detailed training program as she began service training, so she knows all basic commands and walks on a leash very well. At 28 pounds and born in 2015, this petite beauty is the perfect size! Margarita is submissive and dearly wants to please her people. She gets along wonderfully with children, other dogs, and cats. Her issues come from fear – she is nervous around strangers. She needs someone who is home a lot and can give her loads of reassurance and love. Don’t worry, baby, from here on you have nothing to be concerned about!!! Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. Please fill out our application at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org if you are interested in meeting or adopting this dog and we will be in touch right away!

Posted Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Bones here- as in "skin and bones" not Bones from Star Trek. Life has been a trek for me so far. Found on the street by a Good Samaritan I was nothing but skin and bones.....haha. Here a year later, I'm a healthy 57 lbs of sweetness. Does loving toys to play with make me a goofball? If so, I'm guilty because I take my toys with me on walks.... Just to keep them close. I'll keep you close as well with cuddles and lots of slobbering doggie kisses to show my love. Now, when you take me home be patient with me. I'm going to be nervous in my new home with all new surroundings so give me time. If you have cats, no worries, I'm OK with them. Although, It may be best if I'm an only dog. We could always do a meet and greet to see how it would go. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi, I'm Cocoa! I'm just the BEST DOG, or so everyone says! I love to keep my foster mom company. She laughs because whether it's cooking dinner or doing laundry, I'm always right there to brighten her day and make her smile. When I'm extra lucky, she'll cuddle on the sofa with me. That's just the best! The cherry on top is when someone scratches me in the right spot… then I'll do a silly happy dance that makes everyone laugh! Everyone says I'm special because when I came into the rescue, I had a couple of puppies. The rescue had some younger puppies who didn't have a mama, and they were hoping I'd help them. AND I DID.. from the minute I saw them, I treated them like my very own babies. I helped to grow them big & strong and, now that they are adopted, I hope it's my turn soon. I'm amazing with dogs of all sizes, and I love cats too! I'm a smart girl, and have already learned basic commands and how to walk on a leash. I'm housetrained, healthy, and happy. I'm about 3 years old and weigh 45 pounds. I'm quite the catch, I must admit… so please do an application if you want to meet me! Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian.
