Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Pug / Mixed (short coat). Devon is finally ready to go out into the big world! Or at least to his loving forever home. He is fully housebroken, good with other dogs (his foster sister is a border collie), and ok with cats (as long as they don't get all the attention). Devon loves to cuddle! He tends to be a bit exclusive, but his foster family is working on that. Altogether Devon is a smart, adorable loving "chug" with a cute underbite; any family would be lucky to adopt him! Devon is about 6 years old. Adoption fee for adult dogs is $175, which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations to date, microchip, and heartworm testing. Please apply at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this dog. We will get back to you right away! You can also call us at 754-200-1738 and leave a message if you have any questions, but the very first step to adopting a dog is filling out an application. Thanks!

More About Chug Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: American Bulldog
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: American Bulldog (short coat). Sarabi was tied to a fence over night in front of the humane society with her 9 babies in a box next to her. She suffered a lot before coming into the rescue. She had old and new wounds and was extremely malnourished. She learned to trust and love her fosters. All her puppies have been adopted and she is looking for a home where she can be a puppy again. She's only around 1 year old herself. She weighs 55 lbs and could probably gain a little more weight. Sarabi would be great in a active home. Preferably an only dog home. A family with kids would be good too. Sarabi is sweet and loving. Extremely playful and crate trained. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Fox Terrier (short coat). Kricket is a sweet loving senior girl desperately hoping for a home she can spend her glory years in. Kricket is being fostered with 6 other dogs ranging from 10 to 120 pounds and does great with all of them. She also has 3 kitty and 2 bunny foster siblings she does great with as well. Sadly Kricket is losing her eye sight and surgery is not an option. It would be so wonderful if Kricket could be adopted while she still has some eye sight left so she could learn her new surroundings and her family's faces. Kricket has been in foster care for a long time waiting for a family of her very own. Could you grant Kricket her Christmas miracle and give her a home of her very own? Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Age: Adult
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: American Bulldog (short coat). Please contact Carie for more information about this pet. Daffy is a super sweet American bulldog who was adopted from us in 2013. Fast forward to December 29, 2015, we received a message that she was at the Marion County Animal Shelter. We rushed up that same day to get her and we were horrified at her condition. She was filthy, smelly, nails over grown, missing fur and worst part is she was a walking skeleton. Daffy is now once again safe in our rescue with a wonderful foster family who is getting Daffy all fat and happy. Daffy is good with dogs, cats and kids. She just likes to lay around and hang out. She loves to go for walks and get treats. Daffy really deserves a good home that will love her and care for her forever. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Breed: Chihuahua
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Rocco is an adorable little 10-lb and 10-year-old chihuahua mix that was surrendered to Good Karma. He is an easy-going guy who loves to either sit in your lap or play with his favorite squeaky ball. Rocco gets along well with other dogs and cats and will do with older children. We think he had some mistreatment in his life, and he can be nervous around new people and attention.. but as soon as you start petting him, he doesn't want you to stop! You will notice one of his eyes is colored blue. Our veterinarian said that it appears he had chemical damage to his eye, but he isn't in pain and we can't do anything about it, so it's just something that now makes Rocco extra unique. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Rocko B.

      rescue
      Breed: Italian Greyhuahua
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Italian Greyhound / Mixed (short coat). Rocko is a 2 year old and 10 lb sweet and loyal dog. He gets along great with other dogs. He loves long walks and is very curious and full of energy. You will fall in love the moment you meet him. From his foster mom: Rocko needs a lot of attention, looks like nobody ever had played with him before. He doesn't know how to fetch. I would love for him a loving family that goes out with him to dog parks and take him on vacation too, like a family member. He was very anxious at the beginning, now that I earned his trust, I don't want him to get disappointed again. I fostered Rocko to notice that he was acting like a dog that had been mistreated by their prior owners before he was rescued. He seemed very scared and traumatized, getting stressed by every little noise and sudden movements of human beings around him, like if he had been physically punished before in the past. I also noticed that he was very anxious and nervous of small places, like a puppy that has been locked for long periods of time during his first two years of life. Therefore, his new owner should be very loving and sensitive with a dog that has recently learned to trust people because it took a lot of work, patience, love, and time. Evidently, this is a dog that has lots of love to give in return, he gets attached easily and would be all over you, waiting for you at all times and making you happy, as long as you give him the love, space, time, and respect that every dog deserves. Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Quincy! He is a beautiful, young pittie mix who showed up as a stray at an industrial park in Miami. Thanks to a wonderful foster family, we were able to bring Quincy into the rescue so we can get him cleaned up and ready for a forever home! Quincy is in a home with other pups around his size and gets along just fine with them. He is also great with the children in his foster home, including a toddler. It turns out that Quincy is quite the water dog - he LOOOVVESS the pool! His foster mom reports that he will even race his humans from one end of the pool to the other, so if you need a new lap partner, look no further than our boy Quincy! He is a bit nervous in new situations. For example, going to the veterinarian's office is very scary and Quincy does not love it. We are working with a trainer to help him overcome his reactiveness when he is scared or uncomfortable, and he will need an understanding forever family who will continue to work with him. Overall, Quincy is a goofy, fun-loving boy and his foster mom says nothing but good things about him! If you think you can give Quincy a great home and help him be an ambassador for his breed, please fill out an application! *The application is the first step and must be completed before meeting Quincy *Adoption fee: $175, includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations to date, heartworm testing, deworming.Foster location: Fort LauderdaleIf you are interested in adopting Quincy, please fill out the pre-adoption screening form at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org. Margarita

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Margarita has been through the wringer in her short life. According to the woman who rescued her, she had never lived in a house previously. She was originally found by people as a puppy, and her mother was hit and killed by a car. She was always kept outside of the house in a backyard filled with junk, but was given some food. The people lost their house to foreclosure, and moved on without Margarita. During the time that she lived outside that house she had at least 1 litter that we know about. When she came into the rescue initially she was heavily pregnant, and we raised and adopted out her babies. We tried placing Margarita as a service dog, but her background left her with too many fears. This girl has SO many wonderful qualities! She is completely housebroken and went through a detailed training program as she began service training, so she knows all basic commands and walks on a leash very well. Margarita is submissive and dearly wants to please her people. She gets along wonderfully with children, other dogs, and cats. Her issues come from fear – she is nervous around strangers, and things like loud noises are very scary for her. She needs someone who is home a lot and can give her loads of reassurance and love. Don’t worry, baby, from here on you have nothing to be concerned about!!! Adoption fee is $175 and includes DHPP & rabies vaccinations, heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, and microchip. Please fill out our application at http://adoptadog.goodkarmapetrescue.org if you are interested in meeting or adopting this dog and we will be in touch right away!
