    Breed: Cocker Spaniel
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Houston, TX
Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (medium coat). Hey all! It's me, Oscar! An energetic guy with an estimated date of birth of February 2011. I am housetrained, and I get along with other dogs and older kids. My foster mom says almost everyone loves me once they meet me. She also says I'm a tall dude, weighing in at 35 lbs. Don't worry... I'm not overweight; it's all muscle! I walk very well on a leash and only pull when I see another dog. And like a lot of people I know, I do best when I have a routine. This way, I'll remind you when it's time to eat and potty, and then everyone is happy. Did you check out my pictures? I clean up nicely if I should say so myself. I was a mess, found as a stray with 6 lbs. of matted fur on me. Yes, 6 lbs!!!!! It hurt me, all those knots and pulling on my fur to try to get them out. So, the people at the shelter in Louisiana had to sedate me while they worked on all that awful matted fur. Look what was underneath! A beauty with a nice, shiny coat and lots of spunk. I love to play with tennis balls, primarily and enjoy squeaky toys sometimes. I don 't mind playing with the other dog in my foster home and will playfully bark and growl in a fun way when I share toys with him. Barking is my favorite way to express myself, especially if I hear a loud noise, if I'm playing outside, or if I'm on a walk and see another dog being walked or approaching me. While I 'm a very fun-loving, smart dog, I do have a past that may have included some sort of abuse. I get very nervous while getting groomed and need sedatives to help make me less anxious and more comfortable during the process. For this reason, I would really like it if my owner groomed me, or if they at least took me to the same person every time so I can learn to trust them and get comfortable. Also, one time, long ago, I had a really bad ear infection and a small child pulled on my ear. It hurt me a lot, so I snapped at the child as a warning to stay away; it's the only way I knew how to tell him. No one was hurt and my foster mom never saw that behavior again, especially since my ears have been successfully treated and they're not as painful anymore. Just in case, though, a home with either no kids or older kids would be much better for me since they might have a better understanding of giving me my space. My foster mom has said I 'm very well-mannered and am a really good guy. I hang out with her nephews who are 5 years old and 3 years old quite often and we cuddle and play with no problems. I 'm healthy, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccines. I do have dry-eye, though, so will need daily eyedrops for the rest of my life. Right now, I 'm at a great foster home where I get to play with another dog, play ball in the yard, and even go to the beach to play in the waves. I hope that life is looking better for me, and just know I'll thrive in the right home. Is it yours?

    Dixie

    Breed: Cocker Spaniel
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Campbell, CA
Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (short coat). Dixie is a 4 year old, 22 pound Chocolate and White Parti Cocker Spaniel with her full natural tail. An awesome little dog that was impounded at an animal shelter. She has been a joy for her foster mom since day one. A lovely little dog who really enjoys her time with her family. Enjoys walks on the leash and does really well navigating around the house and yard, including steps. She has juvenile cataracts, but it certainly doesn't slow her down. Dixie does wonderful with other dogs and has been also doing well with the cats. Her coat had to be shaved short because it was long and matted, but it will continue to grow and will need regular appointments to see the groomer in order to keep her neat and tidy. She is almost completely house trained and has learned how to use the doggy door to go outside. Dixie is a great little dog with a very easy going personality. We have not had her around young kids, but feel that she will do just fine with dog experienced children of at least 8 years of age.

Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (short coat). Wyatt is a 2 year old, 33 pound buff and white Cocker Spaniel with a docked tail. His former family decided it was a great idea to leave Wyatt and his brother Doc at a small city airport. Since the dogs didn't seem to know where they would like to fly off to, they were brought to our rescue instead! These Cockers do very well together. Doc is the dominant dog over Wyatt, but they do get along really well. It would be nice if they could stay together, but both dogs seem to be getting very well adjusted and most likely would be fine without each other. They appear to be very well cared for. We had them groomed as their coats were very long, matted and dirty. We had to cut their coats short, but Cocker Spaniels grow a very thick and long coat, so Wyatt will need regular grooming appointments to keep him neat and tidy. Both dogs are house trained and obviously have lived with cats. Wyatt loves playing with balls. He is a very sweet dog and loves spending time with his foster mom. We do not know how they are with small children, so if there are kids in the home, they should be of at least teenage.

    Breed: Cocker Spaniel
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Houston, TX
Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (long coat). RUFFLES is a beautiful blonde 8-year old neutered Cocker Spaniel. He is looking for the perfect couch or bed to cuddle with a like minded owner (or owners). He enjoys belly rubs, slow walks and watching TV. RUFFLES must be given time before you try to pet him - sit back, wait, and let him take a few treats from your hand. Soon he will be begging to be your friend! He would do best in a home without small children. He does well with other dogs, big or small, as long as they are nice to him. RUFFLES has long, curly blonde fur. He needs to be groomed about once every 8 - 9 weeks. When he comes out of grooming, he preens around like a peacock and loves to be told that he is a "cutie-patootie" or a "beautiful boy." RUFFLES was found on the streets of a suburb of Houston, TX. He was in really bad shape; matted, dirty, full of flea colonies, and ticks. Concerned rescuers took their time and were able to get a leash on him, then take him home to be cleaned up. RUFFLES was microchipped and registered by his previous owner. Unfortunately, calls and emails by the microchip company to his owner were not answered. We do not know how long he was on the streets, nor do we know what happened to his previous owner. We do know the streets were not kind to this sweet boy. If you have any questions, please contact us at HHFRescue@gmail.com or complete an adoption application at www.HHFRescue.org. Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescued dog. The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is an additional $10.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. If adopting a puppy, the rabies and spay/neuter will be done at the same time by our vet once they are 4 months old and billed to us. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.

Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (medium coat). Butter is a 7 year old Cocker Spaniel that weighs just under 20 pounds. She was brought to an animal shelter by an owner who felt the dog was old, broken and should be put to sleep. Her story hit social media by storm. We went to the shelter to go visit this "old, very sick, sad" Cocker Spaniel and was greeted by an exuberant, happy dog that was jumping up on the door of her kennel, very excited to have company! Obviously, she is now part of our rescue! Our Vet confirmed what we have felt about this dog. She is a happy, healthy 6-7 year old dog. Butter has been wonderful with other dogs. She is crate trained and when it is time to go outside, she bolts out of her crate with enthusiasm and joins her 3 doggy friends for a fun romp outdoors. She loves to explore and really would enjoy walks on the leash and dog beach. She walks on a leash, but is still learning to walk in a straight line. She tends to get her foster mom tangled up in the leash as she runs side to side checking out all there is to see. That being said, she does not pull hard. She just acts a bit confused by the restraint. A few practice walks and we are sure that she will be a wonderful walking companion. Butter has met the cat in her foster home and was completely unaffected by him. She just wanted to get in the car to go for a car ride. Her former owner stated that she did well with children.

    Sasha, aka C...

    Breed: Cocker Spaniel
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Houston, TX
Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (medium coat). Hi, I’m Sasha, a sweet little Cocker who was surrendered to GCCSR recently due to some unfortunate events that happened in my owner’s life. I first moved to live with my owner’s mom and her three bulldogs, but they didn’t like me much, tried to attack me all the time, and I was in danger of being hurt by them… so that’s how I ended up here. My estimated date of birth is October 2005. I’ve been to GCCSR’s primary vet, will see a specialist soon, and they will determine the best course of action with respect to my mammary tumors, need of spay surgery, and back issues. GCCSR will need to raise funds in order to help get me in good health before I can be blessed with my forever home. There are several dogs in my foster home of various sizes and ages and we’ve been getting along fine right now, unless they approach my toys or get too close in my space. I’ll growl a little to tell them that those are my favorite toys. I have a cute, little trick – I bring all the toys that I like over to my pillow. Doesn’t that show those other dogs that those are mine? I may growl when they get too friendly with me because my back hurts, and I am just protecting myself. I may show my teeth, but that’s it. I really don’t care to fight or anything like that. I’m going to be a great companion someday for a special owner that wouldn’t mind giving me some special attention. I enjoy getting loved on for sure. I haven’t met any children yet, yet so we are not sure if I would be okay around them. Right now, I’m adjusting to my foster home and trying to process all that has happened to me. I have been around cats, and they don’t bother me at all… but there are some young, big dogs in my current foster home, and everyone seems to think I’d be happier with smaller, more laid back dogs. The good news is that I’m housebroken (once I learn my new routine) and heartworm negative. While GCCSR will be raising funds to treat my medical issues, in the meantime, I can go to a quiet, stable foster-to-adopt home. I just need someone willing to help me through my issues and take me to my vet appointments. The folks at GCCSR believe I deserve a chance to live out my senior years with love and good health…. can you please help me?

    Breed: Cocker Spaniel

    Age: Adult
    Location: Campbell, CA
Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel (short coat). Sally is an 6-8 year old Cocker Spaniel with a docked tail. She has just a few tan spots on her, making her almost completely white. Her coat has been cut short, but it will continue to grow and will need regular brushing & grooming appointments to keep her tidy. Sally is a very sweet Cocker Spaniel and has a very gentle disposition. She is the type that would enjoy hanging around the house with you, going outside to enjoy some sunshine and spend time with you while you work in your garden. She does not require a lot of exercise to keep her content. Sally does wonderful with other dogs. She can live in a home as part of a multiple dog family or as a single dog. If she is a single dog, she will do best if someone is home with her most of the time. She also is fine with cats. We have not had her around young children, but feel that dog experienced kids of at least 8 years of age should be fine.
