Posted Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Corgi / Mixed. This adorable sweet girl, Lorelei, and two of her siblings were dumped in a backyard with no regard for their welfare or safety. They may have come from a backyard breeder, or a family who abandoned them. Luckily, a concerned neighbor brought all 3 dogs to our vet in SC for help. They were afraid to take the dogs to the local shelter which is full for the summer and has a high euthanasia rate. Our vet contacted us to help, and now all 3 pups have been vetted and will be making their way to N. VA on 7/8. Lorelei is being fostered with two feisty Chihuahuas and 3 cats, and is a very submissive pup. She was a little nervous around the two Chi’s at first, but once she got to know them she's fine. She is great with the resident cats, and just goes with the flow and leaves them be. Lorelei actually sleeps with the cat at night in her foster mom’s room, and they have become fast friends. She is a little fearful of larger dogs, and was recently introduced to a friend’s Great Dane, and cowered around him. She would need time to adjust to large dogs, but is great with other small dogs and cats. Her foster mom says Lorelei is a fairly mellow dog by nature, but the more comfortable she gets, she starts to come out of her shell and get more active and playful. She has not had much exposure to leash walking, and is still working on potty training. She’s timid around meeting new people, loud noises, and sudden movements, so a calmer home with no kids or older kids would probably be the best fit. Once she knows you, she is very snuggly, and like to sleep by your side or follow you around. Lorelei is still very new to her foster home, so we will know more about her as she settles in. This striking pup with the one blue and one brown eye is sure to be popular.
