    Turtle Dove

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). Turtledove! Whata girl. This sweet dog got her nickname while in the shelter when she was stuck on her back- like a turtle- and couldn't roll back over! She quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite for her silly antics, gentle nature, and longing eyes. Turtledove sweetly watched the staff come and go, the dogs being adopted, and days passing by- until finally it was her last day before being euthanized. Staff and volunteers joined together pleading for help for this favorite dog of theirs. Thankfully, in the nick of time, 4 Life Rescue was able to help Turtledove and give her a chance to know what life and love is really like. It's very evident that Turtledove was extremely overbred and neglected, yet, somehow she's as trusting and gentle as they come. Since being in her foster home, Turtledove has adjusted well to pack and family life, she learns commands, and is very social and eager for connections and attention. This dog is very loving! Turtledove is one unique mama and 4 Life Rescue is so happy we get to be part of her journey. To learn more about adopting Turtledove visit www.4liferescue.org .

Posted Breed: Shepherd / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. I am a spayed and chipped 8 year old Belgium Shepard Labrador mix. I am up to date with my vaccines and flee medication and I am also crate and potty trained. I do ok with other dogs because I was raised with one however I am usually the alpha and I am a little weary around children and cats. Despite that, I am very loving and always interested in what my mom is up to! I love to make sure things are in order around the house and hunt pesky mice and rats. My owner jokes that I am a circus dog because I can do a trick of jumping very high in one place when I'm excited! Please check me out and contact Alexis @ alexis.spaeth@gmail.com if you would like to take me home!

    Marley Girl

    rescue
    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Pug Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pug / Mixed (short coat). Marley Girl's Story... Sweet, spicy, bold. That's what Marley Girl would say if you asked her to describe herself. Her owners have had her since she was a puppy and she's now 7 years old. After having their human baby a year ago, they realize they no longer have the time to care for Marley properly. They want a better life for her and know that she deserves a family who will give her the love, attention and exercise that she craves. Marley has such a unique look and we believe she is a Lab/Pug mix. The pug is highlighted in her face, and her body is all Lab. She is approximately 45 pounds and she will be the first to admit that she could stand to lose a few pounds, all possible with the right exercise and change in diet. She is spayed, current on shots, house trained, crate trained, dog selective, cats unknown. She loves to cuddle and get belly rubs, not a chewer, great in the car, and knows basic commands such as sit, shake, high five and down. Marley does need some work on the leash as she tends to pull, but is very trainable and will respond to training on proper leash etiquette. She ADORES kids and women, but has some fear issues with some men, so again, a trainer should help Marley tackle her fears. Marley wears her heart in her bright smile and she is the master at bringing sunshine to all she meets. All she needs is that special family to reach out and give her the life that she deserves. If you're interested in learning more about Marley girl or meeting her in person, please contact Debbie Bobshosky at lildebpark@yahoo.com. Thank you.

    Gonzo

    Breed: Bullypit
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: American Bulldog / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Gonzo, a beautiful and smart 2 year-old American Bulldog mix who was rescued from the San Pedro Shelter where he was a staff favorite. This boy is super friendly to people and animals! He's a big puppy, but knows his basic commands. He loves to play ball and tug-o-war. He loves to cuddle and is SUPER soft. And now he is now crate trained too! Although a young dog, he likes his mellow moments, but loves his active ones even more. He would make a great dog for someone who is active and needs a buddy to take along on adventures. Just put sunscreen on him first! He's very good on leash and does not like to leave your side. We can't say enough good things about this beautiful dog! He will be a wonderful addition to a loving, active and experienced dog owner...could that be you??

    rescue
    Breed: American Bulldog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: American Bulldog (short coat). Meet the AMAZING Monti! This boy loves to play with ropes and play tug-a-war, he knows how to swim and loves summer days in the pool, which is not typical of his breed, but Monti is no typical guy! This hunk loves car rides and going out for his daily adventure! Monti is well trained, walks great on leash, and knows his basic commands. He is a big boy, so needs someone who knows how to manage his personality properly with the right combination of love, respect and leadership. He is fine with other smaller or submissive dogs, but would do best in a home as the only dog as he prefers to be the center of attention!! Monti adores well mannered children and is just the most amazing companion! If Monti sounds like the guy for you, please e-mail us to savealife@4liferescue.org

    Delightful D...

    Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier

    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). My name is Darwin. I am an extremely GENTLE, sensitive, and personable 4 year old Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull mix. I weigh about 65lbs, but I'm essentially just an oversized lap dog (no, really- I am). What you need to know about me: I need a stable, structured, and calm home. I am very stressed out whenever I go outside, and prefer to stay home then go on walks or out into public places. The perfect situation for me would be a house with a fenced in yard or patio where I can easily do my business. Just something simple! I am fearful and insecure around other dogs, but I have slowly made a couple furry friends, including another dog that I am fostered with currently. An owner who is experienced with special needs dogs like me would be best since you understand the need to be patient, and to give me lots of encouragement and leadership. I am always curious about what you are doing- so if you hear someone tip-toeing behind you, that would be me! I know basic commands, and I am housetrained- I do not like to be crated, but because I'm such a good boy, my foster mom trusts me alone while she's at work all day. I also like to sing when I get excited, which is mostly whenever I see you! I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of my shots. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my foster mom Rachel at info@hollywooftotherescue.org

Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat). Hi there - my name is Creme Brulee (yes - just like the cream pudding :)) and I'm as yummy and sweet as the dessert itself! I'm a wonderful little 18lb boy looking for a place to call my home. I am 6 months old - born on February 2, 2016 - an early Valentine's baby. I love to play fetch with a ball or other toys, go on long walks and sunbathe. I also really enjoy being a lap dog and giving kisses. If you want to relax and read a book, I'm your man - I will just sit by you and keep you company. I'm already neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccines, crate trained, well socialized with dogs and cats (though I prefer older cats). If interested, please contact Grace directly at thebeaglebrigade90@gmail.com or call her at 951-536-2902.

    Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Hazel is a 1 year old female pit bull. The family originally adopted her from the OC shelter, and have decided to rehome her as it is what's best for her. She's a real sweet dog and is going through training currently. She needs a strong leader/handler and a family who is willing to continue with her training and put some time into her. Being just a young dog, she still doesn't know her strength and can be a bit mouthy sometimes, so older kids are probably best. She is dog friendly with proper introduction. However, no small dogs and definitely NO CATS. Hazel is a courtesy post, so if you would be interested in meeting Hazel, or getting more information from her trainer, please contact Jessie at jessie.scott281994@gmail.com

    Joey

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi! My name is Joey and I was saved from being euthanized at the Orange County shelter for being too scared in my kennel. I'm just a puppy but have already had a very sad past where my person was not nice to me and, because of that, I'm pretty scared of new things and new people. My foster mommy tells me it breaks her heart that someone could treat a sweet puppy so badly but I am a happy boy now that I'm safe with her and my foster dad (and my 4 legged brothers and sisters!)! My foster family is working with me daily and I am learning how to be a very brave little boy! Each time I overcome something "scary", I feel just a bit more confident and ready to tackle the next thing! Still, I will need a very patient, understanding adopter who will give me time to adjust and learn to trust and also continue to teach me that the world is not such a scary place. Once I learn to trust you, you will not meet a sweeter, more loving, happy little boy! I absolutely love to be with my people and will always follow my foster parents from room to room when they do things around the house. But it takes time for me to get there so I will need someone who has a "stick to it" and is willing to go through some bumps in the road during the first month or so that I'm with them. I can PROMISE you that I will come around with time and patience...it is just hard for me to trust in the beginning. Oh, and I'm told I give the very best kisses :) I absolutely LOVE other dogs and currently live with both boys and girls and get along with them great. The thing is, my trusted doggie friends give me the confidence I need to conquer the big, scary world out there so I would greatly benefit from going to a home with another dog! I like to run around and wrestle with my doggie friends so while I like little dogs, I am better matched up with someone my own size or bigger who can handle my rough and tumble play! I would be best matched up with a balanced dog with a medium energy level that can show me the ropes in my new home and teach me that life is not so scary. I'm a tiny little guy...I weigh about 45 lbs but I look even smaller than that! I'm easy to handle and very eager to please! I love treats and I am doing well learning my basic commands. At first I was very scared of that big thing they call a "crate" but now my foster mommy just says the words "in your crate" and I run right in! My foster mommy says I'm such a quick learner and great listener too! Even though I'm still a puppy, I have a great medium energy level. When it is time to relax and watch tv, I will just lay at your feet or on my favorite dog bed and relax with you. But if it's time to play in the yard, I'm ready to go! I'm a quiet boy but I will definitely alert you if somebody is near the house or at the door. My foster mommy tells me I have a big bark for such a little guy! I am such a special guy and I am really looking for that perfect home that will help me become the confident boy I deserve to be! If you would like to learn more about me or meet me, please contact my friends at 4Life Animal Rescue and they will put you in touch with my foster mommy who can tell you all about me!

    Triss

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Orange, CA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Triss is approximately 2 yrs old, spayed, current on vacs, excellent with other dogs and great with kids, and in search of a forever home. Triss was rescued in Mexico by a Good Samaritan 'Eva' and has been living with a foster family there since March 2015. She was found in an abandoned yard with her 5 pups and was thin like a skeleton. Since then the pups found their forever homes, and now Triss is healthy and ready to find hers! Triss' foster family unfortunately doesn't allow dogs inside their home so she will need to be housetrained once in her new environment. Eva would like to find a great home that will consider her a part of their family. Triss enjoys a running partner, loves car rides, is great on a leash, loves to play with her foster sibling sister who is a German Shepherd, and a very affectionate girl who likes to lay beside you. She is very grateful to have been rescued off the streets of Mexico and is eager to please you. If you have any questions about Triss or would like to meet her in person, please contact Eva via email at marquez.eva@gmail.com. For serious adoption interests, Eva has no problem with transporting beautiful Triss outside of Mexico to meet you.
