    Breed: English Setter-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult

Posted Breed: English Setter / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $325.00. My name is Raymond or “Ray Ray” for short. The vet said I am around 2 years old. I am not exactly sure what kind of dog I am but I sure am cute! I love playing with my foster brothers, going on walks, and my foster parents! It took me some time to get adjusted to my new life because I came from a neglectful and abusive home. I will admit I had trust issues at first but I'm told that now I'm a completely different dog! My foster family was patient with me and showed me how to be a real dog in a loving home! Now I am playful and energetic but also I know when it is time to settle down. I have an indoor crate that I sleep in when my foster parents are away but I am allowed to sleep outside of my crate at night. I sleep 8 hours at night and can hold my bladder just fine. My foster parents let me outside first thing when they wake up. I know to go to the bathroom outside and I have become a healthy eater! I love my dry food and treats. I will do just about anything for one of those! I like lounging around on the couch with you while you watch tv or read a book and on my bed while I look out the window. I still get a little nervous sometimes, especially if I am around people I do not know or am in a new place, but if you talk to me and reassure me everything is okay I will trust you. Cars also scare me when I go on walks but I do love to ride in them! I believe I would do best in a loving home with a brother or sister dog to play with and who can “show me the ropes.” I would prefer a backyard I can run around and play in that has a fence so I am protected from those scary cars. I am a good guard dog and I will let you know if someone is in the house who does not need to be there. I will do what I can to protect the people who love me. If you are patient with me and show me you love me, I will love you unconditionally! My foster family showed me how to love again and I hope you will continue to do the same if I am lucky enough to join your family! I have had all my vetting, heartworm prevention, microchip placed, and I am neutered. I am a great size at 44 pounds. Will you consider me?

Posted Breed: English Setter. Harry and Cleo have been together most of their lives. Both of these dogs came to us in poor condition, but with some love and good food they are full of life and spunk again. Harry and Cleo have battled long term health issues caused by Lyme disease. In fact, the vet wouldn’t give them their vaccines until they gained some weight and got a bit more healthy. Harry is a 14 year old boy and he is one of those dogs where you are his world! All this boy wants to do is hang out with you, sit on you and cuddle. Out of the two dogs he is the least active. Harry was recently diagnosed with kidney problems, but he is doing well on blood pressure medicine and special food. Cleo is a 13 year old girl and she is the more active out of the two. This girl doesn't act like she's 13!! She also loves attention and quality cuddle time with you. Cleo has a heart murmur, that medicine could help, but at this point it is not affecting her activity level at all. Harry is still intact and at his age, it is more of a risk to try to have him neutered at this point. We are unsure if Cleo has been spayed or not – she has not gone into heat while in foster care and at her age a spay scar would not be visible any longer Harry and Cleo are both good with cats and kids. Both dogs are very loving and happy go lucky. If you are looking for a couple of sweet dogs to spend some quality cuddle time with, these two just might fit your family!!! Posted Breed: English Setter (medium coat). Blake here! Foster mom wants me to tell you all about me. I have a lot of friends. I am friends with every cat and dog I have ever met. I like kids (little ones scare me) but I LOVE kids. I am a very good boy and NEVER make a mess in the house. I am a GREAT helper in the kitchen. I am an EXCELLENT blanket when my humans lie on the sofa. I am about six years old. Sometimes my knee bothers me, so then my foster mom gives me a pill. She calls it an anti-inflammatory and all is good. She said to tell you I have a floating kneecap. Because my knee bothered me for so long I am learning stairs now. You see I would not do them before. But when my foster mom puts on my leash and says "time to go up" I follow her. I am not confident enough to do those scary stairs on my own yet. I love the sofa. It is the bestest place in the world to lie down and nap. I would sleep there ALL THE TIME but foster mom says I have to sleep in my crate at night. I like a little canned pumpkin in my food and I eat it all up all the time. It's really good for you! I do have seasonal allergies. Foster mom puts one benadryl in peanut butter for me and I eat it all up. I don't bark much. My foster brother and sister do enough of that for me. OK time to go out and go potty. See you soon!!!! Love you! Blake

    DUKIE

    Breed: English Setter
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: English Setter (medium coat). Hello, I'm Duke (although some of my friends call me Dukie.) I'm a 7 year old, neutered male english setter. I have lots of energy but I'm very well-behaved in the house. I lost my home because of my bad behavior around small dogs. Since I got into a fight with a small dog a couple years ago I can't stand them. I slipped out of the house and bit a small dog that one of our neighbors was walking on a leash. The neighbors insisted that I go and my family sadly sent me away to their friend who is also my breeder. My former family and I did lots of things together: running together, going canoeing, hunting, cuddling... I miss having a family. I do not like small dogs, cats and larger male dogs-until I get to know them. I cannot go to a home with small dogs or cats. I am a strong, athletic hunter and very focused but my hunting partner has to stay alert in case there are other dogs around. I am very good at coming when called if another dog shows up and tries to challenge me. I go to my hunting partner and hang out with them. I'm now kenneled there with 2 female roommates and we have fun but I miss being with humans. I really miss my humans. I get along very well with people of all ages. I have had obedience training and have very good manners in the house. I love to jog or run outside although I'm always keeping an eye out for something to hunt. It works best for me to be in a harness. Once I'm inside it's time to relax. I would be best in a home with a nice fenced in yard so I don't have to worry about defending against small dogs or cats. I can spend hours outside looking, chasing and hunting so you don’t even have to take me for walks if you don’t want to, I wear myself out. I love to cuddle and am happiest either in your lap or snuggled up right next to you. I don’t always like other dogs. I loved my foster sisters and we play a lot every day. With other dogs maybe I’m just afraid but I have to act tough and bark and growl at them or maybe feel like I have to protect my human. Right now I am so eager for human attention that I sometimes try to jump up when first greeting a person. I'm reminded about the "Off" command and I do my best to behave. About You: You would need to be able to provide an outlet for all of my energy. Last but not least it would be great if you want a dog that will cuddle with you especially after a nice long run of course! Please contact my foster mom for more information about me: Mary-Beth Esser mbireland2000@yahoo.com

    DaVinci

    Breed: English Setter-Unknown Mix

    Age: Baby
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: English Setter / Mixed (medium coat). DaVinci is settling very well especially having Ms Dinah, his foster sister, as guidance. She keeps him calm if he gets scared. He also looks to me as well. He loves his crate. Potty training is going well. He loves his toys and elk horns. I would seriously suggest Bark Box for this boy. Usually between 1-3pm he has claimed his own quiet time. He plays quietly without rough-housing or naps in his crate. He is very cat friendly and treats my cats well. DaVinci walks nicely on leash, although sometimes gets a bit crazy... we're working on that. He is so funny though, even if we take different routes on our walks, he knows when we are headed home and gets excited. On my property I let Dinah go so she can run, and for the heck of it I let DaVinci go with leash on, as he follows her. I leave the leash on in case I need to grab him, but he has done well. He also knows where we live - goes right to the outside door and tells Dinah, hurry up I want my treat and a drink. He knows up, as he has to climb stairs to get to our apartment. DaVinci nicely waits for his meals and working on sit, which he will do sometimes on his own for treats or to get leash on when heading out. He is very smart. He is getting more comfortable with all the people coming in and out. Getting used to UPS guy as he knows when he comes, he and Dinah get a treat :) He has a happier face than when first taken into foster care, so he is thriving. The other funny thing he does when walking.... If someone is behind us or if something is different from before he is always looking and watching. I say lets go, quit being so nosy, and he'll walk but keeps looking back or at whatever seems to be bothering him. I tell him it is okay and we continue our walk.... I walk him and Dinah together as a lot of the time it is only me, not much tangling unless he gets excited, but generally does very well. He is doing very well and is happy :) AND he now is 100 % potty trained. He is getting tall. He loves me as when I talk to him he tilts his head and listens to every word and will look to me to continue whatever it is we are doing :) Gotta love this boy!

    LUCY II

Breed: English Setter-German Shorthaired Pointer Mix

    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: English Setter / German Shorthaired Pointer / Mixed (medium coat). Looking for a lively, fun-loving pup to join your active family?? Lucy ll may be your girl! Lucy II is a 10 month old setter/ pointer mix who came into rescue in March of this year. She has been spayed and is current on all vaccines. Lucy is an active, energetic little girl who loves to play! Her favorite toy is a woven rope toy which she carries around with her everywhere. Lucy is a very affectionate girl, but being a puppy, she's not quite a lap sitter or a cuddler. At this point in her young age, playing is her goal in life! Lucy loves to run, so a fenced yard is a must for her. She's also a great hunter of critters, especially insects including butterflies, moths, and bees! However, birds are her favorite and she will point them, chase them, and jump to try to reach them! She watches the sky for them! Lucy likes cats we think, but is so playful we keep our elderly cat separate from her as Lucy's prey drive is strong. We would not recommend she be in a home with any small furry pets due to her high prey drive. Lucy gets along with the other dogs in our home, and is friendly with the neighborhood dogs she has met. This cute puppy is working on learning basic commands: She knows “Lucy, come!”, and she has mastered sitting for a treat, but without a bribe sitting is out of the question. Lucy knows “off”, and is learning “out” for the times she steals our shoes and wants to make it a game. Lucy is learning how that being a counter surfer is not a sport that people find charming. We are teaching her “no bite” as she can be a little mouthy when playing with us. Leash walking is getting better every day, but she still tends to pull, and this silly pup can wind herself up in the leash because she's so active and playful. Lucy is most fond of her foster dad and loves to be where he is, but so far she loves everyone she meets, and especially gravitates toward children. However, since her play is sometimes rough and little pups have sharp nails that scratch, we feel it might be best to place her in a home with older children. We've recently started to work on agility games with Lucy to channel some of the high energy in this pup. Since she loves to run and play, we think she'd make a great agility dog! If you have an active home and you are looking for an active dog to keep up with you, Lucy may just be your girl!!

    DUKE

    rescue
    Breed: English Setter
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: English Setter (medium coat). Duke is a 8 year old neutered male English Setter. He was an owner surrender, because he was not comfortable in a family with young children. Duke gets a bit nervous when a person or dog gets in his personal space when he is lying down and can be a bit grumbly. We think that he may feel as if he is going to get hurt by being stepped on or sat on. While in foster care, Duke did well when our 12 year old granddaughter came to visit. He was happy and relaxed like a true gentleman. We feel that Duke would do well with kids that are old enough to understand and respect his personal space. Duke has an old injury that is non repairable; he has a bilateral tear to the ACL on his right leg. This tells us that he has had some fairly significant pain in the past, which may require arthritis meds in his future. Duke lives in a foster home with other dogs and he does well with all of them. He also lives with an indoor cat. When Duke is inside, he ignores the cats, but, on the other hand, when outside, if a cat runs he may give chase. I think it is safe to say that Duke would do well with a cat if that cat was strictly an indoor cat. Outdoors, Duke is a little more prey driven. For instance, Duke is not chicken friendly at all, and he has worked his way through a wire fence or 2 to get at the chickens. Because of his increased prey drive outdoors, we feel it is best that Duke have a home with some type of a physical fence. This boy is super sweet and he does enjoy being the center of attention. He is a talker and he will give you a long drawn out ROOO to let you know that he has to go outside or he thinks it is time to eat. Duke is not crated when we leave the house and he has proven to be respectful and trustworthy. When you return home, he will be waiting for you with more ROOO’s and his happy dance Do you have room on your couch for Duke?

Posted Breed: English Setter (medium coat). About me: I was found as a stray in Huntsville Alabama, so no one knows for sure about my history. The doctor says I’m about six years old, and am very healthy. I am very small for a Setter, I weigh about 35lbs. I have lots of energy and LOVE to hunt. I will hunt just about anything, including cats so I absolutely cannot go to a home with cats . I would also really love to go to a home with a nice fenced in yard. I can spend hours outside looking, chasing and hunting so you don’t even have to take me for walks if you don’t want to, I wear myself out. I do really love walks though, and my foster mom takes me on runs up to five miles and it’s no problem. Once I’m inside and it’s time to relax, I love to cuddle and am happiest either in your lap or snuggled up right next to you. My social life: I don’t always like other dogs. I loved my temporary foster brother and I love my current foster brother and we play a lot every day. I just spent a couple of nights at a babysitter and I really liked and played with two of the other dogs, but I didn’t like the big one too much. Maybe I’m just afraid but I have to act tough and bark and growl at him. I really like people, my foster mom takes me to running events and I meet a lot of them at once and several of them pet me and I like that too. I’m not sure about kids, my foster mom doesn’t have any and we don’t seem to be around them too often. That being said, I am very protective of my caregiver and I don’t like people walking up to us uninvited. I get very nervous when single strangers approach me unexpectedly or startle me. This makes me bark and jump at them. My foster mom says I would make a really great watchdog for someone. About You: You would need to be able to provide an outlet for all of my energy and drive to hunt. You should be patient with me as I learn the rules of your house, especially rules about the kitchen counters! It would be best if you were willing to continue my leash training and my socialization, especially introducing me to strangers. Last but not least it would be great if you want a dog that will cuddle with you all day while you binge watch House of Cards. I LOVE binge watching days! Oh after a nice long run of course! That being said, I am very protective of my caregiver and I don’t like people walking up to us uninvited. I get very nervous when single strangers approach me unexpectedly or startle me.
