    Toby

    rescue
    Breed: Rottweiler
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: White Hall, AR
Posted Breed: Rottweiler. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet. SSRR provides FREE transport to our approved adopters Toby is a gorgeous, fun and high energy boy. Toby's ideal home would be with someone who has a very active lifestyle (runners/joggers/trailblazers), has a fenced yard (REQUIRED, no exceptions) and with no cats or kids. Toby currently lives with two rottie siblings and should get along fine with other dogs in the household with proper introductions. Toby loves to go on walks and is not dog or people reactive on the leash. He's a big, strong boy and will need an experienced handler, especially when he sees a squirrel! He's a strong puller and will benefit from some training to turn him into a great walking partner. Toby is house trained, uses a doggy door, loves going on car rides and knows commands like sit, down and shake. He is treat motivated, eager to please and very smart so training is made easy with this wonderful boy! Toby can be a little uneasy around strangers, but once he warms up to you he is a total sweetheart! He will roll over on his back to have his belly rubbed but his favorite thing is to play in the yard with giant toys. Toby is estimated to be around two years old. If you can provide Toby with his ideal home please fill out an Adoption Application and bring your new best friend home! Step 1: Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED Step 2: Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days). SSRR is very serious about the homes our dogs are placed in and want to ensure they never end up homeless again. If you have any questions, please email us at rottie.info.ssrr@gmail.com . Tootsie

    rescue
    Breed: Doxle
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Conway, AR
Posted Breed: Beagle / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Sharon Goff (sharonmg68@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Tootsie is a young female Beagle mix. Her approximate date of birth is 4-14-16 and she weighs 21.4#. She has been spayed, is up-to-date on her vaccines and has tested negative to heartworms. Tootsie is an energetic little girl and will run in circles in front of you just to show you how happy she is. She's a treat freak and will do well learning new things by receiving treats as rewards. She is smart, wants to please and settles into new routines quickly. She does like to jump on you and her foster mom is trying to correct this but she will need more work on this issue. She also needs more work on her leash training. Tootsie apparently was scolded a lot when she was little and will cower to the floor and pee when she is being leashed or picked up. She should get over this as she settles more and more in her new home and she feels loved and safe. She loves to cuddle with you and loves to please. Tootsie is defensive when meeting new dogs. Socializing in dog parks and in public should be closely monitored. Eventually she settles down and will play well with other dogs. She is curious of cats and will run up to them but does not hurt them. There are no children at her foster home but she probably would love children, especially older children that could play with her. If you are interested in adopting Tootsie, please contact Sharon Goff at sharonmg68@yahoo.com

    Breed: Boxweiler
    Sex: Female Female
    Location: White Hall, AR
Posted Breed: Boxer / Rottweiler / Mixed. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet. SSRR provides FREE transport to our approved adopters Do you like the song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?” Well then, you have found your “fun girl” …meet our little Rebel! This Rottweiler-Boxer mix is not only strikingly beautiful, she is full of life and love. Rescued from a kill shelter on her last day to live, Rebel’s resume did not include any social skills at all; nor did she know how to act around other dogs. She arrived at her foster home as a wild child, pretty much untamed, but sweet as she could be; thus, she earned her name, Rebel, which means “wild spirit but a loving heart.” Rebel has now been professionally trained to be calm and play nice with other dogs. In the past, she wanted to play; however, she has now learned there’s a better way to make doggy friends than approaching them like a linebacker. Rebel’s trainer uses only positive reinforcement through communication and praise; there is no punishment or use of correction collars. The lucky adopter selected for Rebel will be someone who will continue these very effective training methods. She’s silly; she’s sassy; and she will make you laugh. This little girl adores people, and she will win your heart in a matter of minutes. She loves children, especially if they have boundless energy to play with her. She thinks toys are one of the world’s best creations, and loves to chase a ball, running a few extra laps before she brings it back ….Isn’t that how you’re supposed to play ball?? When Rebel is not playing, this love bug wants to cuddle, while staring into your eyes for reassurance that you are happy with her. Rebel is approximately 1 ½ years old and weighs 45 lbs.; she is housebroken and crate trained. She is also highly intelligent-- there is no limit to her ability to learn new things. Rebel wants her very own family who will love and protect her. If you’re looking for unconditional love, along with a best buddy to hang out with, Rebel is your perfect match. Approved applicants (in Houston or surrounding areas) will get to meet with Rebel’s trainer and learn his techniques so that a transition into a new home will be consistent with her training. Our sincere thanks and appreciation goes to Cynthia Barker (www.cjbarker.smugmug.com) for the wonderful photos of Rebel. Step 1: Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED Step 2: Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days). Location: Alexander, AR

We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 10/11/16 DOB estimated July 7, 2016 UPDATE! 5/24/17 Martin is now full grown and weighs about 35lbs. He is a smart and sweet guy who loves to be loved. He gets along well with other dogs. Martin loves to play with his people, as well as with other dogs. He is still in need of a forever home and is so deserving of a home of his own. As he has grown and matured, we are now thinking he is a boston terrier/boxer mix/Lab mix. Martin is crate trained and mostly house trained, although his experience being in the house without being crated is limited. Please consider Martin if you are looking for a fun loving, happy boy to hang out with, perhaps take for hikes/runs/walks. For more info, see below. These sweet little babies were dumped in a wooded area in Arkansas. There was a witness that actually saw the truck pull up, dump the puppies out, and speed away while the puppies cried and tried to follow. Thankfully, someone was there and saw the whole thing and was able to get all of the puppies to safety. Poor babies were only about 4-5 weeks old at that time. Just little babies. We are purely guessing on their breed, since we never got the chance to see mom or dad. We are calling them Lab/Beagle/Border Collie mix. These babies will likely be on the large side. They are currently each about 20lbs. but they have a lot of growing to do. They are all very friendly, happy go lucky, sweet puppies and will make wonderful companions. They are located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted. For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $300, and for older puppies and adults, the typical fee is $250.
