Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Klondike 8 years old Good with dogs Good with cats Good with kids Fostered in Cocolalla, ID Hi there friends! My name is Klondike and I’m a sweet male lab of about eight years. I came to Power of the Paw recently when my owner elected to let me go so that I could receive the vet care that I needed. They certainly loved me, but they could not afford the surgery that I needed to have my ears repaired. I was a bit on the thin side and kind of worn around the edges. I was definitely in need of some TLC, and my foster mom has been giving me just that! My only serious issue is my poor little ears had extensive hematomas in them. I asked the vet to explain to me what a hematoma was, and she told me that it’s when a pool of blood gathers up under the skin causing swelling and pain. In most cases, especially ones like mine, the hematoma needs to be drained and then sutured closed. They do bleed quite a bit and take a while to heal, so I’ve been having to ask people to speak up so I can hear them through my thick bandages. I am healing quite well and I should be able to have all my dressings removed soon. My ears might end up a little crinkly because if the scarring that hematomas can leave behind, but I will be as good as new. I have been trying hard to get along well with the other dogs in my foster home, and I’m doing decently, but I do prefer a slow introduction to other dogs. At this point in my life, I like to enjoy every part of life at a nice slow pace, and I’m not the type to just fall head over heels for any old dog anyway. It would certainly be beneficial to the both of us if you are prepared to give me time to adjust to any other animals in the house. I have lived with cats in the past too, and I don’t think I’d mind to continue to do so at all. I really love people, and even at eight years old, I don’t mind spending time with the little ones either. As long as they promise that they won’t do anything too wild, like jumping right on me from the back of the sofa, or pull on my tender ears, I will give them all my love. Of course I also love adults, and I am a pretty easy going house pet. I am already house trained, and I can be crated if need be, but I am pretty respectful of the house. If you think that you might be the perfect person for me, please do apply at www.powerofthepaw.org. I could make a wonderful addition to almost any family, and now that I’ve received the vet care that I need, I deserve nothing more than to find the perfect place to live my life. Thank you so much for reading about me and making the choice to adopt rather than shop. Animals like me are so thankful! ADOPTION FEE- 100.00$ Includes neuter, microchip, vaccinations, vet examination, and hematoma surgery!

Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Siberian Husky Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Boise, ID
Posted Breed: Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Foster location: Nampa. ID Joe is a sensitive yet sweet 8 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix. Joe is a low-key boy who would do best in a quieter home where he feels safe and can fall into a routine. Joe can be shy at first with people, but given some time and some tasty treats he bonds strongly. (Broiled liver is his favorite treat). Joe is good with other dogs; however he does best with a canine companion who is not to pushy and will not try to bully this soft hearted boy. Joe seems uninterested in cats, but would need proper introduction in his new home. He is a well mannered boy who knows how to sit, stay, wait, come and no. Joe wants to be wherever his foster Mom is and will politely ask if he can sit next to her on the couch. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and although a bit nervous in the car, he rides well. Joe has just started to learn how to play with toys and seems most interested in soft toys with a squeaker. Due to Joe’s sensitive and shy nature, he needs a home without children. An easy going adult home without chaos and loud noises would be an ideal home for Joe. We recommend Joe have a securely fenced yard or be on leash at all times as he may flee and hide if startled. Joe is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He was recently evaluated by a vet and appears to be in good health. His adoption fee is $50.00. If you want a great boy, with an amazing personality and you can offer Joe a great retirement home please fill out an application at: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Check out Joe being silly with his toys: https://youtu.be/lVaicO9yMKY

Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Jaeger 6 years old Pointer mix Good with dogs No cats Good with kids Fostered in Coeur d’Alene, ID Yo! My name is Jaeger. I first came to Power of the Paw 3 years ago. I had a severely injured leg. My front leg had to be amputated. Now, you may have noticed the huge indent in my head. The damage to my front leg was so severe that it caused nerve damage which cause severe muscle loss in my head. I will never come back. I originally didn't have sight in that eye either but that has returned and I don't seem to have any issues with my sight. I get along well with other dogs and I lived with a cat but I don't like cats outside the home. Because of this, Power of the Paw is suggesting I don't go to a home with cats. I also cannot have chickens or other birds in my home. They are too fun to chase and sadly, they are fragile and the humans say I can't play with them. I did have small children in my home previously and I loved them. I was returned because my owners no longer had time for me. I'm now looking for a home with room for me to run! I may only have 3 legs but boy, I'm so fast! You won't even notice that I'm down a leg. I have never lived in the city, so property or a large yard would make me happiest. I know my basic commands and LOVE affection and attention. The first 3 years of my life wasn't very nice to me, so I need a home where I can continue to be spoiled and doted on. Please, change my life so I can change yours. Go to www.powerofthepaw.org/dog-adoption-application and apply to add me to your family! ADOPTION FEE: $200 includes neuter, DAPP, Bordetella, Microchip, Rabies, Flea Treatment, deworm and vet check!

Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher (short coat). Patch 6 year old Chihuahua/ Min Pin mix Good with dogs Cats unknown Good with kids Fostered in Post Falls, ID Hi, my name is Patch and I’m a 6 year old Miniature Pinscher mix. I was out for a stroll in Coeur d’Alene when I saw another dog. I got really excited and went over to say hi. The other dogs’ person picked me up and took me into Lake City Pet Hospital to check me for a microchip because she said I was lost. I was lucky that she brought me to this specific vet because there were a couple wonderful ladies there that volunteer with Power of the Paw. They said that instead of me having to go to doggie jail they would hold onto me and I could stay in one of their foster homes. They saw that I had a skin condition and that my hair was falling out but until my stray hold was up there was nothing they could do. Well my family never came for me so I got to become an official Power of the Paw foster dog. I’m really glad they took me because I had grown fond of my foster mom and the other dogs in her home. I went in for some tests so they could find out what my skin issue was, they cut 5 small pieces of skin off and sent them in. I was diagnosed with sex hormone dermatosis which causes my hair to fall out but thank goodness it’s an easy fix, all that was needed was for me to be neutered. It will take some time for my hair to grow back but at least I won’t need any additional treatments. So enough about my hair let me tell you more about me. I used to be really quiet and just wanted to be next to my foster mom. Since I got neutered I have shown a lot more of my personality, I started to talk to the other dogs just the other day. I have been trying to play, I’m not really sure what I’m doing but I would love to learn. My skin is a bit sensitive so a soft touch is great, that has gotten better since my surgery also. I still love to lay next to my foster mom and have her rub my neck and chest and I think that I would prefer a quiet low key home. I don’t do well with quick movement or loud noises but I am getting better with that. I sleep in a crate at night, it isn’t my favorite but it isn’t that bad overall. When I first went into the vet clinic my teeth were covered in a thick green tartar but they cleaned them all up and I only had 2 teeth pulled and my breath smells so much better. I did mark a few times in the house but I try not to do that anymore, my foster mom has a doggie door so I can come and go as I please. I haven’t really been around kids but as long as they are respectful and have a soft touch, remember I have sensitive skin. I have met a cat once and it went well, I think I could live with a cat as long as it’s nice to me. If you think I might be the perfect man for you, please go to www.powerofthepaw.org to apply. I come neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and I have been examined by a vet too! My adoption fee is $200. Thank you so much for taking time to read my story and for making adopted your very favorite breed. Happy tails!

    Zika

Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Siberian Husky Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Boise, ID
Posted Breed: Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). FOSTER LOCATION: Twin Falls, ID Zika, currently responding to Z, is a 1 year old, 44 pound mix – possibly a combination of Siberian Husky and German Shepherd with a touch of Aussie, and, definitely, sweetness. Z would do best in an active household; are you an avid runner, biker, or hiker? She loves going on long walks and is learning how to walk nicely on a leash. Although she has a lot of energy, once that need is fulfilled, she will quietly lay nearby. She would love to have a playful dog friend to romp around with; a confident, friendly dog would be great. She hasn’t been tested with cats, but she will likely chase them; so no cats please. Z would do well with kids; she takes treats gently, hasn’t jumped on people, and allows people to take toys and food from her. However, she does startle easily so children would need to be on the calm side and not under 10 please. Zika enjoys hanging out with her people, but she isn’t a Velcro dog. She will happily explore the backyard, snooze in a separate room, or watch the neighborhood activities on her own. She hangs out in the office while her foster mom works and Z will gently rest her head on her mom’s lap for some attention. Z is house trained and crate trained. At night, the crate door is left open and she may/may not choose to sleep inside. She is crated when no one is home because she has some separation anxiety. She is not recommended for an apartment because she barks and whines when left alone. She would benefit from and excel at basic obedience classes; she is smart, attentive, and isn’t stubborn as some huskies can be. Do you think you can offer Z a loving, active home? If so, she will thank you a million times over with her adoring gazes, kisses, and loyalty. Zika is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100.00. If you feel you are the right person for this lovely dog please fill out an application at: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/

Posted Breed: Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Morgan 1 year old Golden retriever/Chow Male Good with dogs Cats unknown Good with kids Fostered in Spirit Lake, ID Hey there everybody! My name is Morgan and I’m a playful and wacky golden retriever man that likes to run around as fast as I can and play all day with other fun dogs like me! I came to Power of the Paw after doing a stint in a shelter in Southern Idaho, but I swear they got the wrong dog. I’m an innocent pup. I’m way happier now that I’m in a loving foster home serving my time on house arrest. Here’s the thing. I talked to my PO last week and she said I’m finally clear to be adopted into a family of my very own! I can even leave the state or the country for the perfect applicant. Before I was arrested, I was living the high life, partying with other dogs, staying out until the wee hours of the morning sniffing around the alley ways for cats and free snacks. I was a true free spirit. Those were the days. I learned how to be social will all sorts of other dogs, and I met all kinds of people and I really loved them all. I think that adults are awesome, and even though I am energetic and playful, I have no problems respecting them. I would also be happy to share my future home with the small people. They have such cute little voices and they always like to put their tiny fingers through my hair and give me their love. Since I’ve been on house arrest, I’ve been learning some really valuable lessons, like the importance of only going to the bathroom outside, which I’ve really gotten the hang of. I have also been working hard on relaxing and enjoying my time when I have to stay in my crate. I don’t mind it so much, but as soon as I get this ankle bracelet off, I’m wishing on my lucky stars that I can be with a family that doesn’t need to put me in my crate that often because we will be too busy spending all of our time adventuring together. Like I said, I’m an innocent pup. The whole thing was just a misunderstanding and I’m so ready to put the memories of the shelter behind me and start living my life with a family of my own. If you think that you might be the perfect family for me, please do apply at www.powerofthepaw.org. I absolutely can’t wait to meet you. Thank you for thinking adoption first and giving a jailbird like me a second chance at life! ADOPTION FEE 200.00$ Includes neuter, microchip, vaccinations, and a vet examination!

    Aven

    Breed: Chinese Shar-Pei-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Location: Rathdrum, ID
Posted Breed: Hound / Shar Pei / Mixed (short coat). Aven 3 years old Female Shar-pei/Hound mix Good with dogs Good with cats Good with older kids Fostered in Rathdrum, ID Well hello there! My name is Aven. You might remember me from this winter. There were many posts about me being lost. I escaped my old owner's home and Power of the Paw was called out to trap me. I ended up in the trap right away. I was so fearful of humans that it was the only way to catch me. Shortly after I was returned to my family, I escaped again and found myself stuck in a barn and the owners of the barn posted me as "found." I was then, again, returned to my family. I've always been a little bit nervous and my home wasn't the right fit for me. I was afraid of the man of the house, along with the children and the cats. My mom decided it was best for me to find a new home. Because of my fear, I wasn't eating and I lost a large amount of weight. You could see my ribs, and well, I just didn't feel like that's where I belonged. I am now in foster with the founder of the organization and I'm a fantastic dog. I've put on almost 5lbs in a week. I get along well with the dogs, the cats, the child, and the man in this house. Sure, I'm a bit cautious sometimes, but with the knowledge and patience, I will make an amazing addition to any home. I can go to a home with dogs, cats, kids (as long as they are respectful) and men. I am eating well. They put me on a high quality food and man, it's delicious. I wasn't a fan of that kibbles n bits. So keep me on high quality, nutritious food, and you shouldn't have a problem with me losing weight. I am also crate trained and housebroken as long as you don't make me wait to long to potty. Foster mom also took me on a hike and in the beginning I was a bit unsure about what was going on. The only time I had been in the woods was when I had run away from home. In the middle of the hike, I realized how amazing it was to be out there with my people and I really started coming out of my shell. Foster mom says I should never be let off leash though. I've proven myself to be a runner, so it's best to keep me secured. Speaking of secured, I need a fully fenced yard. I haven't even tried to escape here, but I'm never left outside without supervision. If you're looking to add an easy, loving, snuggly, happy girl to your family, look no further! Go to www.powerofthepaw.org and fill out the adoption application! I look forward to hearing all about my new family! ADOPTION FEE: $200 includes spay, DAPP, Rabies, Bordetella, microchip, flea treatment and vet check.

    Copper

    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Boise, ID
Posted Breed: Schnauzer / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID Copper is the cutest thing; helooks like a miniature Irish Wolfhound but best guess is Schnauzer/Heeler with a bit of Shih Tzu thrown in for good measure from his mom. He is about 11 months old and weighs in at about 33 pounds of wonderful, loving lap dog, who will likely grow a bit more as he ages. He knows “sit” and “down”. He might respond to “leave it”, but then again perhaps not he is after all just a puppy. He will come when called in the yard, but cannot be trusted to respond in the big world as he is still a puppy and is easily distracted. He is crate trained and will go in on “kennel up” command most of the time. He sleeps in his crate and considers it his den – a new home will need to continue with this and supply him a crate. Copper is house trained to use a bell hanging on the door to tell you he needs to go outside. He also uses a dog door very happily. He rides pretty well in a car, although should have a seat belt to keep him from moving around. This boy does have some Heeler in him and as such has a pretty high prey drive. He picks on the 5 pound Yorkie in his foster home so his new home will need with no small pets: dogs, cats, guineas, or any other prey type pets. He does great with dogs around 20 pounds and up; but again remember he is a puppy and tends to play rough. Copper will need an active family; he is fairly high energy and will need daily exercise; a run every day would be best. As an adolescent, Copper will chew your furniture, shoes, or anything else in range when bored (exercise people). Sturdy chew toys to work on (another reason to crate him when you are not home); a Kong filled with peanut butter, interactive toys will all help keep his mind and body busy. (Surprisingly, he loves soft stuffed toys too, and does not destroy them.) Copper is a strong, young dog, and should go to an adoptive home that can provide lots of structure and exercise. Copper is eager to please, smart as a whip and would LOVE to go to an obedience class. Copper is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $150.00. If you feel you are the right person for this lovely dog please fill out an application at: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/

Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Buddy 5 years old Chihuahua Good with dogs Good with cats Good with older kids Fostered in Post Falls, ID Hello there friends! My name is Lil’ Buddy, but everyone just calls me Buddy. I am great economy sized pup that loves to be with my people, and I can get almost any station to come in crystal clear with my big satellite ears. I was originally adopted from Power of the Paw into a loving family that treated me like gold, and I lived happily with them for quite some time. Unfortunately, their living situation changed and with some added tension in the house, I have really not been myself. Here’s the thing- I do have some anxiety and when my stress levels are high, I can fuss and nibble at my skin compulsively. I have tried to stop because I know how sad it makes my mom and dad when I do this, but I can’t help myself. After a long debate, and months of trying to improve my condition, my mom and dad sat me down and explained to me that they were going to help me find a family that lived a more peaceful lifestyle where my anxious quirks would feel like just a memory from the past. I was very sad, but after some serious consideration, I feel like they made the right choice and I am ready to jump in and start fresh with a new family that lives a nice quiet life. I enjoy other dogs and I have no problem with males or females, large or small as long as they treat me with mutual respect. Seeing as I’m a smallish guy, I’m not overly excited to rough house and get knocked around, but any calmer dogs are just fine by me. I also enjoy cats, and I won’t bother them one bit if they don‘t bother me. As far as humans, I’m very happy with almost all adults, and I am just as good with men as I am with women, so I could happily live with either or both. I do not enjoy the small people nearly as much, and I want to live with ones that are at least 70 dog years old so I don’t feel intimidated and fearful because of their presence. My mom and dad now think that I would make for a great traveling partner, or that I’d even fit in decently in an apartment. After all, I do have all my basic obedience down, and I can either potty outside, or on potty pads, so it’s up to you how often we go outside. I’d like to have a walk most days, but it can be a short one. I also enjoy sleeping in the bed, under the covers right by your side.

    Location: Boise, ID
Posted Breed: Chihuahua. FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Large off balanced ears add to the quirky appeal of Muphy's already appealing face and personality. This adorable 5 year old Chihuahua came to Fuzzy Pawz after finding himself homeless on the streets of Sacramento; a quick trip on a plane to Idaho and Fuzzy Pawz scooped him up and placed him in a foster home. There is a hint of mischief in his eye and a zest for life; this boy is a dream and a lot of fun. A great combination of fun, playful and snuggle bug! He is great with children, other dogs and cats. Having lived with large furry foster siblings, he is no stranger to both their quirks and their company. He adores playing outside with them, chasing and being chased, and engaging in robust games of tug-a-toy. Call him in for some cuddling and he is there in a heartbeat. To replenish his tiny batteries, he either stretches out in the sun like a cat or settles down on a lap for some snuggling and a snooze. Murphy lives to love and be loved, and his favorite place to be is by your side. Highly food motivated and eager to learn, he is both crate trained and a master kisser. Murphy is so good with kids we would prefer he go to a home with some. He spends a good majority of his day hanging out with the 4 year old in his foster home! Murphy is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $75.00.
