  • Boxador Dog For Adoption in Kenner, LA, USA

    Hannah Leigh...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Boxador
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Baby
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). **Due to age, this pet has special requirements for adoption** Please read this pet’s profile before applying to ensure that she is a match for your home and that you qualify based on location and other factors. The application process will be remain open until July 22nd for this pet, but may be closed sooner. Only persons who have submitted an application will be considered. All applicants will be notified through email by July 24th th of the outcome of the application process. In instances where multiple applications are approved, other pets will be recommended. Hannah was surrendered to the local shelter at 9 wks of age, very thin and probably half the weight she should be. This sweet baby will likely be up to 32 lbs, but we will know more once she has filled out. It is likely she may be a bit bigger. Hannah is a darling puppy who isn't holding any grudges about her neglect and we are just happy that she came to us when she did. Hannah can go to an adoptive home now, with a feeding schedule. She would do best in a home where someone is around a lot or comes and goes, due to her age. and the need to feed her multiple times a day for the next few weeks. . Puppies under 4 months of age also require a fenced in area where stray or un-vaccinated dogs do not have access. Before applying, we ask that applicants please consider their schedules, status of yard, and are open to an adult weight range of anywhere between 30-50 lbs or more. Hannah's adoption includes vet check, spay, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, and microchip. She is current on flea preventative and heartworm preventative. *Before applying for a puppy under 6 months old, please note that we are looking for homes where someone is home frequently, or for those applicants who work 8 hr work days, we ask that you have made arrangements for someone to come home at least once during the day to allow the dog to go out for a potty break. Puppies go through multiple teething stages during their first year. Providing your puppy with appropriate toys specially designed for teething puppies can prevent damage to belongings, but more importantly, prevent your dog from choking or suffering a dangerous intestinal obstruction. During the earlier stages, crate him or her when you can't directly supervise him. *Local adoptions (New Orleans and surrounding parishes) preferred. We do NOT ship animals If you are interested, please fill out an Dog Adoption Application Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).

    Abby

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Chiweenie
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (medium coat). Abby was surrendered to the local shelter because her family was moving. She is 4 yrs old and good with kids, cats, and dogs...pretty much everything and everyone. She was turned in at an overweight 41 lbs, needing to lose about 20 lbs to reach a healthy weight. She even had elevated blood sugar and liver enzymes that was associated with her overweight that have since returned to normal as she moves towards her ideal weight. It was sad to see this little girl look uncomfortable as she hauled around twice her body weight and we aren't sure how her little legs did it, but this girl is now active with the dogs in her foster home and she adores them. She wants to play! Abby is on a prescription diet that she only needs to remain on until she reaches her weight goal over the next few months, then she can be switched to an age-appropriate formula to be measured and fed on a schedule as is recommended for all dogs. Abby is current on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She has tested heartworm negative, and is c urrent on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.  If you are interested, please fill out a  Dog Adoption Application Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish). ** Local adoptions preferred (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.

    Kiwi

    rescue
    Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). FOR ADOPTION! Note: Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. (For more pics, visit nr2r.petfinder.com or www.RoadtoRescueLA.org) INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: E-mail roadtorescue@bellsouth.net for an adoption application. PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE requesting an application. Kiwi (female) Intake date: 7/5/2017 Chihuahua 11 years old 3.4 pounds Adoption fee: $170, which includes microchip and enrollment fee Good with other dogs: yes Cats: yes Vetting: altered (spayed/neutered), UTD on shots, heartworm negative, fecal negative, dental performed, URI treated, Capstar and flea preventive, Proheart injection (which is good until September 16, 2017) Health issues: none found Temperament: Quiet, sweet, gentle Energy level: low Groom needs: low Intake reason: Kiwi came to us from Caddo Parish Animal Services. She is tiny, tiny, tiny and oh so sweet. It’s heartbreaking that at her age, she was so casually dumped at animal control, but we will make sure her next home is her furever home. She’s low maintenance and for those of you who love a little dog to carry around with you, she’d fit nicely in doggie purse or during the cooler months, in your jacket. If you’re not looking to adopt right now... then BEWARE!... don’t make eye contact with this little cutie! **IMPORTANT NOTES** *All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing. There is no exception to this rule! *NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents. *HOUSETRAINING: We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained. While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night. Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home. Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency. *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome. Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate. *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty. That’s our guarantee. Other notes: This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La. We are 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to rescue small-breed dogs and a handful of cats and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes. To apply to be approved to adopt, please e-mail roadtorescue@bellsouth.net for an adoption application. Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal. We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application. The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered. We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption until you’ve met the pet (unless you already have). www.RoadtoRescueLA.org

Energy level: medium (playful but can also be settled) Groom needs: medium (needs regular brushing) Intake reason: We were contacted about this little guy. He was a gift to an 87 year old woman. Giving a living, breathing animal that requires an emotional and financial commitment is NEVER A GOOD IDEA! Just don’t do it! So many animals end up in shelters because they were given as a gift to someone who was not prepared for the commitment. In any case, as much as she loved him, she couldn’t care for him. It’s not his fault... he’s just the victim of circumstances. He’s going to make someone very happy, though... but this time he will be wanted. **IMPORTANT NOTES** *All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever!
