    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Garner, NC
Posted Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever / Hound / Mixed (short coat). DOB: 5/13/2012 My adorable white nose and my mesmerizing beauty make me a very beautiful dog. I am a well-behaved girl who bonds quickly with my human. I've done well with the other dogs in the home. It took me a bit to warm up to all of them, but now I have a BFF in Macon (another foster dog with RUFF). My forever home should be a quiet one without small children (they scare me with their quick movements) and preferably a home without a lot of crazy activity. I can be nervous with strangers come to the house. They scare me so I bark at them and run to my safe place (my foster mom's bed). I'm house trained and I'm not destructive so my foster mom does not crate me. (AF) Up to date on age appropriate vaccines, spayed and micro-chipped. Adoption Fee: $175.00

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Morrisville, NC
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Hi! My name is Sig, but you can call me Siggy! My foster parents didn't think my name through when they brought me home; when you call "Sig", I will sit down because it sounds so much like the word "Sit".... Anyway! I will be three years on this Valentine's Day and am rather petite for a male German Shepherd, I only weight about 60 pounds. My previous owner surrendered me because of their living situation. They said that I became aggressive towards men, that I was questionable around kids, and that I had separation anxiety. Well, I do have a little separation anxiety, but my foster family has been great in helping me understand that crates aren't bad and that it's ok if I spend time by myself. My foster mom does believe I would do better in an airline style crate verses a wire crate. I enjoy being around other dogs, big and small. But I can demonstrate dominant behaviors at times, so it's important that I get adopted by a family that will put me in check when I get too rowdy with other dogs. As far as being aggressive with men, I do well with everyone I meet! I was sitting in my foster dad's lap within 20 minutes of being in my foster home. I do live with an eight year old tiny human, and we get along really well. She throws the ball for me, pets me, and sometimes gives me treats. It is important that I get a proper introduction with new people though. Like most people, I don't enjoy strangers coming up to me and putting their hands all up in my face. I am also a Velcro dog, through and through. I want to be where my foster family is, whether it's in the laundry room, licking the dirty dishes in the dishwasher as my foster mom loads them, or just laying on the floor while my peeps watch TV. Sig is being fostered in Virginia Beach, VA. If you think Sig would complete your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or if you’re in our adoption territory of VA, NC or MD, you can complete an application at www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .

    BOJANGLES

    rescue
    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Raleigh, NC
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). You may call 919-772-2326 to speak to a counselor for more information prior to your visit. The SPCA has an adoption counseling process for adopters to learn adoption guidelines and adoption options. Bark! Bark! Woof! Woof! I''m trying to get your attention! The name is Bojangles and I am trying to find the perfect family to take me to my forever home. I''ve been on the hunt for a long time but I know the right family is just around the corner! I''m a high maintenance sort of guy and am looking for an experienced human companion. I''m very smart and need to stay physically or mentally active. Runs, hikes, puzzle toys, car rides to Starbucks, I could go on and on and on about all the activities we can do together! Doesn''t that sound like fun? I want to be king of the household with the couch as my throne! I don''t care for other dogs or cats at all and will need to be your one-and-only. I also find the company of small two legged humans to be worrisome- it would be best if I went to an adults only home. One of the best things about me is you will never be bored or without a snuggle buddy! So what do you think? Are you up for the challenge? I''m full grown at ~72 lbs. *I am currently living in a foster home - please speak with an adoption counselor about how to meet me!* ~My adoption fee is $95.00.~ Many adoptions will take approximately 1 hour or more. Adoption requirements and tips to speed up the adoption process: Please be able to provide a valid photo I.D. with your current address (If your I.D. does not reflect your current address, bring a piece of mail with your name and address on it) Be able to prove that you are allowed to have a pet where you live (proof of home ownership or a copy of your rental lease including the specific pet policy) Bring along all members of your household, including dogs for an introduction to a new dog. However, we do recommend meeting with an adoption counselor before involving children in the pet selection process. To avoid longer wait times, we strongly recommended that dog-to-dog meetings take place after 1:00pm. Participate in adoption counseling process to learn adoption guidelines and adoption options. Adoption Fees: Dogs & Puppies: $115.00 Cats & Kittens: $95.00 Rabbits: $50.00 Adoption fees include: Basic wellness exam, first vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, deworming and flea preventative. All cats and kittens have tested negative for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). All dogs and puppies have received heartworm preventative, and dogs/puppies over the age of six months have been tested for heartworms. All rabbits are spayed or neutered. Understand that the SPCA of Wake County reserves the right to deny an adoption. You may call 919-772-2326 to speak to a counselor for more information prior to your visit.

    Breed: Mutt

    Location: Asheville, NC
Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Daisy is an adorable, smart, playful cattle dog looking for a particular kind of home. She has had some bad experiences and is not very trusting of new people. She will bond strongly to one or two people, and she likes to follow you around and participate in your activities more than cuddling and snuggling. She might prefer a more rural, farm-like situation rather than urban home or apartment living, and she would also prefer to be the only pet in her home. If you have an adult-only home and are looking for a smart, independent single dog to be your loyal companion, please contact our behaviorist for more information about Daisy: pethelp@bwar.org She currently resides at our adoption center at 31 Glendale Ave in Asheville, NC. All Brother Wolf animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate). Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions. Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful! Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Morrisville, NC
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Dutch Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Sirina is a super sweet, 6-year-old Dutch/German Shepherd Dog mix and has been waiting for over a year for her "forever" family! She is a great with people and kids of all ages, and we are perplexed that a lucky adopter has not snatched her up! She currently lives in a house with two male GSDs and they get along wonderfully. She has also attended several of our meet and greet events. Like most GSDs, she can be protective of her “people” and when new dogs approach, but with proper introductions, she's fine. She met a cat at the shelter we pulled her from and didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it. And she recently met two kitties...a friendly kitty and a grumpy kitty. She did fine with both, so we'd say she's cat friendly. Sirina is a member of our Phoenix Dog Program. She has from a medical condition known as laryngeal paralysis (LarPar). While this can be congenital, her vet feels that it's from a previous owner "yanking up" on a choke collar or something similar. You can read more about this here: http\://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2096&aid=861 If Sirina drinks water or eats too fast, she can gag. A slow feed bowl or the scattering of food on a hard surface helps her to eat more slowly. Sirina also has mild allergies, but the symptoms have improved exponentially since she has been on an over-the-counter allergy medication and fish oil (for her skin). The allergies, combined with the LarPar, could be a concern during very high temperatures or strenous exercise, and she needs to wear a harness rather than a collar. Sirina will never be the type of dog who swims in the ocean or goes on runs with her person, but if you’re looking for a companion who enjoys slow strolls and cuddling, she's definitely your gal! If you are interested in making Sirina part of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If if you are not yet approved to adopt and you're in our adoption territory of VA, NC or MD, please visit our website to complete an adoption application, www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com. Sirina is being fostered in Virginia Beach, VA Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .
