Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: $299. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team looking for my retirement home! Date into Rescue: 8/25/2017 ~~My age: Estimated birth date 8/30/2011 Reason for being in rescue: sc shelter, stray. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 44 lbs Height: 19-20" at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? I would love a fenced in area to explore in.. Or just a lot of walks. What kind of home would be best for me? I am looking for my retirement home somewhere maybe on a farm where I can bask in the sunshine and go on lots of nature walks. What is my personality like? I'm a older lady but not too old! I still love to wander through the woods and play a little with dogs of my size. When I am outside there is nothing stopping this nose from working. I could sniff and roam all day long and come home to soak my paws and take it easy. That would be the perfect life for me. I don't ask for much! I get carried away while on a leash so a harness would be best to walk me with since I like to pull. Treats? Ooooh I love them. This lady at Carolina Poodle Rescue thinks that I know basic commands but it has just been awhile since this gal has had to do them. My story is short and sweet.. I was found as a stray in South Carolina and taken to a local shelter.. but now I am at the farm! I don't get to roam as much as I'd like to though.. and I would also love to be reminded on how to be a pet again. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly.. but it is hard to get my attention with my nose to the ground. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

Date into Rescue: 5/7/2015 ~~My age: est 3-5 years Reason for being in rescue: Sabrina was turned into a kill shelter by her family Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None known Weight: 8 Height: 10" Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sadly we do not have much history on Sabrina, however if her behavior is indicative of her past...it was not a positive one. I will never forget the day we picked her up. We were actually going to the shelter to pick up another few dogs, and we saw Sabrina. She was hairless, crusty and absolutely petrified....and of course, on the Euthanasia list. Touching her bare-handed was not an option. We got her back to the farm where we started making progress. We treated her skin for allergies and it took several months but she has finally grown a full coat back!! She is great with other dogs and has turned into a happy gal. She has also done well walking on a leash for our caregivers! Sabrina needs someone who is familiar with chihuahuas as she has a few quirks. Once she trusts you, she is a breeze to deal with. Sabrina only snaps if she gets very frightened (which happens less and less as time goes on). She has never actually bitten anyone. Sabrina is a sweetheart who is full of life and would really thrive with some one on one attention! UPDATE: Sabrina is becoming more confident everyday. She is such a sweet girl, and does not have one mean bone in her body. Sometimes when you pick her her up she yelps, more so out of fear than anything else. Once she gets acquainted with you, she wants nothing but love and affection. She gets along great with her fellow doggy friends and usually just lays low. She is very polite, she doesn't bark much nor does she get in any kind of scruffles with other dogs. Her favorite thing to do is curl up underneath a blanket and snooze the day away. How I act when I first meet new people: Timid until she gets to know you House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sierra was heart worm positive when she arrived but is now negative Weight: 19 lb Adoption fee: $299 Fence needed? no but it never hurts! What kind of home would be best for me? I want a home where I am given the chance to shine like the star my caregivers say I am. Some people don't understand me because I can be a little shy at first, I'm just new around here and haven't found my rhythm yet. I'm starting to though. I love walking around in the grass with someone trusting by my side. I also like to play with the dogs in my play area! We play chase and wrestle and do all sorts of fun stuff! I'm still new but I want a mommy and daddy that can be patient because soon I'm going to be a gorgeous butterfly! I like to examine the water before jumping in, if you know what I mean. I would do well as an only dog or with other dogs. What is my personality like? I am quieter and more reserved, but my personality will show through more and more as I'm allowed to shine in a forever home. How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy but curious, I come around in a couple minutes! More tips and tidbits: In case you come see me in a meet and greet my favorite cookies are the peanut butter ones! House trained? Date into Rescue: 9/9/2017 ~~My age: The shelter estimated her birth date at 9/7/2012 but our vet says add quite a few years to that. She is probably 9 to 10 years old. Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray in eastern NC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 11.6 lbs - she could stand to gain 1/2 lb. Height: About 10" at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sweet Sela is an older gal in need of a quiet and clean retirement home. Life has not been good to her - we want to find someone to give her a good end of life to balance out the bad beginning. What is my personality like? Sela is one of those dogs who just blends into the crowd. She does not ask for much, gets along well with all other dogs (she has not been cat tested yet) and in general is sweetly easy. Her snaggle tooth smile is adorable. How do I act when I first meet new people? Curious - she seems to like people very much but is an independent girl like many of the oriental breeds. I think she will learn to like snuggling but doubt it's been part of her life. More tips and tidbits: Sela had fleas bad and her skin is leathery like she's spent a lot of time outside. Our vet thinks a clean and flea free environment will go a long way towards healing all of that but right now she looks a bit bedraggled. She is currently on cyclosporin drops for dry eye and this may need to continue but the biggest problem with her vision is not the dry eye but an excessive amount of melanin in her eye which is inhibiting her vision. You would not know it - but it may explain why she is so quiet and simply follows the pack. Because a dog's sense of vision is not their primary sense, Sela has compensated with her hearing and sense of smell and I have noticed she uses her peripheral vision quite well. You would not know she had vision problems if not told. Sela likes toys. She loves to play with soft, plush toys and if there is a working squeaker she likes to make them talk. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Sela will bark to go out and she is clean in her crate. We think she would learn house training very quickly. Please note - we do not ship dogs. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? heartworm positive. I will be sent home with a years worth of heartworm prevention. Weight: Estimated 13 lbs Height: Estimated 11" at the shoulder. Fence needed? A fence would be great until I learn to leash walk. What kind of home would be best for me? I need a home with sweet people willing to love on me once I warm up to them. What is my personality like? I was found in another state and brought to one of their rural shelters as a stray. My past is unsure but I would love to find a family to help me forget all of the bad stuff. I am head shy.. If you come at me to fast with your hand I will tuck down because it startles me. I am very curious and love to explore my surroundings. My caregivers say I am timid and I need a little work.. but they all know there is a bright fun guy under all of this fear. 7/12/2017: Since Hugo has been here a few weeks to settle in, we have noticed he is a very head strong type of guy. He does not look for anyone elses opinion and has his own little mind. Hugo is still a little shy but he is showing us more and more of his true personality. Hugo would make a great dog for a person that enjoys independent dogs that knows how to keep themselves happy. 10/05/17- Hugo is a very loving and hyper boy. He loves to play, but can sometimes be too much for other dogs, which Hugo does not like. This means that Hugo needs to be in a home with a dog that is alright with his energy and goofy personality, or a home with no dogs. He absolutely loves all people and will take a belly rub from anyone. Hugo will become a relaxed and lazy boy once he has a little bit of playing time out of his system. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly but shy. More tips and tidbits: I don't care much for treats or toys so far. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 6/14/2014 Please note - we do not ship dogs.

Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Needs socialized. Weight: 8.4 lbs Height: Estimated 9-10" at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be greatly appreciated. Luke is fearful and not leash trained yet. What kind of home would be best for me? Luke needs a home with a family that can understand his situation and his need for learning to trust. No other male dogs is best. What is my personality like? Luke came to the farm with a few others from the same hoarding situation. Although Luke has made improvements, he is still fearful of people. He has his favorites here at the farm that he will let love on him, but if you are not one of those people.. he hides in the corner. Luke would be a great lap dog if someone is willing to put in work and a lot of patience. Notes from caregiver 4/26/2017- " I like this little guy. He growls when he's eating and will go in his crate without any force but he growls and turns round and round when he is in it. I have been holding him since his second week here and he's great unless Gus and Jaq are out with him. I normally keep them separated. If they are in the big area together they are fine but small spaces is a no. He doesn't mind girls but I would be very careful about putting him with boy dogs. He isn't good on a leash he wants to pull you but off leash he stays right there with you. He comes to his name almost every time you call him. I let him in the area outside of Greta's and he didn't wonder too far from me. Almost as if he was scared to go further then the leash even when off leash. When I called him he would run to me and jump up on my leg. He gives great kisses too. He loves to be right with you and have his head and back scratched. He is dying for some one on one attention and shows his appreciation with a sweetness in his eyes and a kiss on your cheek. He doesn't always have a clean crate so I wouldn't say he is crate trained. I think he would be best being the only dog. He was fine with my child he ignored her." How I act when I first meet new people: Fearful House trained? Pippin would love a calm loving home. What is my personality like? Pippin is a little bashful when meeting new people, but once he is acclimated he is on your lap asking for back scratches in no time. He prefers attention over treats and toys but who can blame him! He is low key and would be a great dog for any first time dog owner. He walks okay on a leash but he still needs a little practice with learning not to pull. Basic commands are strange to him right now and he doesn't really understand what we are trying to teach him but this boy is extremely attentive and able to learn.
