    Zoey

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Philadelphia, PA
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Zoey is a loving dog who prefers belly rubs over treats (she still loves treats). She knows how to sit and loves going for walks but won't need a lot of exercise. She loves cuddling on the couch or is perfectly content relaxing in her crate. The terrier in her has some barking tendencies but she seems to adjust to city noises. She will sometimes bark at people on bikes as they probably look funny to her. She does seem toy & food possessive but there is room for growth beyond this behavior. We think she is partial to female humans but will warm up to males when she gets to walk up and meet them. She is crate trained and loves a squeaky ball over rope. Overall she is a loving and happy dog that wants a forever home that is open to getting to know Zoey and her quirks. Zoey would do best in an adult-only home with owners who can read her behavior signals. She has been friendly with meeting other dogs unless they challenge her energy level and Zoey can hold her own in friendly wrestling match. Name: Zoey Location: Northeast Adoption Center (All our dogs meets are by appointment only - please call ahead.) Breed: Terrier mix (Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label) Age: 6-10 years old Weight: 13 pounds Reason for surrender to shelter: Zoey's owner surrendered her because she could not train her properly. If you are interested in meeting Zoey, please email dogs@phillypaws.org for an application. If you have questions, please email the above address or contact our adoption staff at 215-298-9680, ext. 16. Animal ID#A35027676 (Updated 5/11/17) PAWS, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization. Both PAWS Adoption Centers are open Monday-Friday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. PAWS' Wellness Clinic is open Monday - Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but appointments are required for adoptions. Adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and microchipping. No animals may be adopted without being spayed or neutered. Adoption fees are as follows: $150 for large adult dogs (older than 1 year); $250 for small dogs (under 25 lbs) and all puppies (under 1 year); $50 for adult cats (over 6 months of age), and $100 for kittens (under 6 months of age). Posted Breed: Shar Pei / Mixed (short coat). Cash was surrendered to us when he was 1 1/2 because his owner was no longer able to care for him. He was in a home with multiple other dogs, and did very well with them. Cash's previous owner stated that he was mostly housebroken, very friendly, and good with children of all ages. rescue
    Breed: Basenji-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Pottstown, PA
Posted Breed: Basenji / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). For Adoption: Sasha was deposited at a high kill shelter in TN before her first birthday. She was at the shelter for several weeks and was absolutely crawling with fleas. A rescue volunteer went to access the dogs at this kill facility, where everyone was yelping and barking uncontrollably. Sasha, on the other hand, put her little paw through her kennel gate as if to say, please get me outta here and the volunteer did. Sasha was not yelping or barking for attention, she just quietly made her sweet nature known. Sasha was treated for a severe flea infestation and spayed by the rescue. She is still missing some hair on her back but it is starting to grow back. She loves to romp and play. She is terrific with older children, loves other dogs, a great companion for a family of any size. Sasha needs to learn some leash manners, but other than that is an ideal girl. She loves car rides, walks on the trails, or playing at the local doggie park. If you are interested in adopting please submit your APPLICATION TO ADOPT Online at http://www.jotform.us/ddpets/adoptddpets If you have questions please email store@ddpets.com or call 610-970-7500

Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Well helllooooo! Nice to see that you are stopping by to read about me! I'm Lewis, a ~1 year old retriever blend who is bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun! Oh, wait. That's Tigger. But me, too! Some of my best friends say I am immensely social and sweet. See, it is possible to be absolutely wonderful on the inside and out! (I'm told I'm dashingly handsome!). I love having my chest rubbed. One of my best friends was spending time with me in Providence Animal Center's Real Life Room. I was on the couch and she sat on the floor kissing my nose while I held my toy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a love that just needs some exercise, but with time, I'll be PERFECT. I have a heart of gold and I love people's approval. I'm friendly and playful with other dogs. Check me out playing with my buddy, Bruno - https://youtu.be/d4YtAmcYnS8. Everyone in my forever home would be happiest if any kids are 8 and older because they will be big enough to play with me and also help with training me. In case you can't tell, I REALLY want to be a good boy - the BEST boy! Check out how well I know "sit"! https://youtu.be/SWYuREMCfPs I need a home without any kitties, though. I want to play with them too much. I am up to date on my vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. I weigh about 62 pounds. I hope to meet you soon so we can begin our fun happily-ever-afters together! Love, Lewis *Oops! PS a generous donor loves me so much that they have sponsored my adoption fee! That means I can go home to a loving forever family for free!* To meet this handsome fella, contact the Barker Lounge located in Folsom to set up at appointment! 610-586-2003 Providence Animal Center is funded solely by adoption fees and donations. Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi, I'm Sophie. I am a lovely pit bull lady who would be a great fit for someone looking for a mellow dog who doesn't need a lot of training. I'm housebroken, and I love to show off the commands I know, like sit, down, paw, gently taking treats, and walking nicely on a leash! I was brought back to the shelter because I was being a bit of a grumpy older lady with my toddler roommate- I like kids, but I'll sometimes growl if little ones aren't respectful of my space (or if I get surprised out of a nap)! Because of this, I'd do best in a home with adults and older kids who are a little more on my wavelength. I love all small dogs and can coexist with larger male dogs, but I can be a diva with other large female dogs and don't want to share my home with one. I shouldn't live with cats, because I don't understand that I shouldn't chase them. I'm really mild-mannered, but sometimes I like to jump up to sneak a kiss from you! Breed: Greyhound-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Philadelphia, PA
Posted Breed: Greyhound / Mixed (short coat). This bouncy, friendly guy is an interesting mix of whippet and pinscher. His owner surrendered him to us along with his brother Sunny - they could live together but can also be adopted out separately. He was a house dog but needs exercise to stay happy and healthy, and has gotten used to being on leash while in the shelter. Now he enjoys his walks a lot! Niko is really nice with people and wants to cuddle - he'll jump up on your lap and curl up when he gets sleepy (see pics!). Niko would benefit from training, because he's a smart guy and is eager to learn. Niko has lots of energy to share with you (he'd love to join you on runs or hikes!) and would also love to be able to have some serious cuddle time. Niko tested well with cats and can probably live with them! He has been living with his brother and another dog, and responds with friendly interest when he sees them on walks. He could live with older children. Breed: Boxer-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Gilbertsville, PA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). PUPDATE Fergie had 6 beautiful babies, one of these little sweet hearts was born on Easter Night. Photos of them will be posted in a few weeks. FERGIE IS ON TEMPORARY HOLD but applications will still be accepted and processed for her. Unknown at first when she came to us - she has puppies in the her belly. Expected due date for these sweeties are guesstimated around the end of April - first week of May. Fergie is a Boxer mix, about 35lbs, and great with other dogs and cats. Very sweet mannered and house trained. She will be spayed after her puppies have been weaned. She loves people and just wants to be loved. Her shyness with strangers goes away very quickly and she just is one of the most cuddliest pups around. Great with kids and other pets. She's not too interested in dog toys but loves her hard chew bones. We introduced her to rabbits recently and she looked at them and kept going. She does get a little carsick on long rides so if you travel, please take that in mind and don't feed her before a long drive. Apply at www.mostlymuttz.org
