    Breed: Australian Shepherd-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. JJ Meet Jake! Despite his rough start in life, Jake is the poster boy for "gentle giant": he is a really sweet boy who just wants to love and be loved. Jake was rescued at the end of December, 2015, by the Border Patrol while walking in an isolated area near the USA border; he was quite emaciated when he arrived, and the healed scars on his muzzle still tell the story of how hard he had to fend for himself in order to survive as a stray. While Jake is shy and initially hesitant to approach strangers, he turns into a big, placid teddy bear who is all about love and snuggles as soon as he warms up to you He loves squeaky toys and he will gently pick them from your hand and happily trot away to his bed holding them; he will also greet you with his toy. He craves back and ear rubs, can spend half an hour with his chin resting on your lap while you pet him, and he will even nudge your hand with his paw or nose to ask for more when you stop Jake currently lives in a temporary foster home with 5 other dogs (2 Chi mix girls who boss him around and 2 med/lg breed male dogs) and he is really good with them as long as they are not trying to be bossy with him. He did stand his ground on the rare occasion when one of his foster siblings tried to take his food or toys, but he never displayed any sort of aggression towards any of them at any point. Jake is not properly socialized to cats and should not be in a home where there are cats. We feel that Jake would do better in a household without small children who might startle him with brisk movements or high-pitched screams. He would, however, most probably be great with older children (10-12 years old and over) who are provided with adequate guidance on how to approach and interact with him. This sweet boy is in need of a foster home or adoptive family The ideal home for Jake would be: Someone who would like to have just one canine companion or has non dominant dogs who will try to challenge him. He likely would do best with non threatening dogs like smaller dogs, BUT has been living in 2 foster homes since we rescued him and there always have been multiple dogs in the home. A family without cats. A family who just would like a "home dog' not a dog beach or dog park dog as that is not something Jake would enjoy. A ranch or large property he can have as his own would be amazing but he enjoys a normal yard just as much. Perhaps a retiree or adult couple looking for that canine companionship of a goofy, loving but chilled dog. Jake is walked daily, but still is a little hesitant or afraid of leashes or exposure to things like going to run errands, although he jumps well into the truck/car. He sleeps in his crate at night and is house trained. His foster family consists of mom, dad and a teen. He does not have separation anxiety. If you are interested in fostering this gentle giant until he is adopted or, even better, would like to foster him with the intention of potentially adopting him should he be the right dog for you after having him home for a few weeks/months, please fill out an application online. He will certainly bring some sunshine into your lives. Check out his videos and pictures as he is playing with different breeds and sizes of foster dogs. Don't wait...Submit a foster or adoption application today! We also have foster to adopt trials..the best of both worlds! Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Australian Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Tinley! This sweet boy came to Labs and More in dire need of care and love, and we sprang into action to get him just that. Tinley is around 3 years old and looks to be a German Shepherd mix. He is working on gaining some healthy weight and settling in nicely. Tinley was introduced to a non-reactive cat at an adoption event was was far too interested in the cat for us to think he would be okay living with them. Tinley is still new to Labs and More, so check back here for updates as we get to know him! The adoption includes the altering of the dog, current vaccinations, and microchipping. For more information on the adoption donation and our adoption process, please visit our website at www.labsandmore.org and click on Adopt. Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Meet beautiful Giada! At about 3 years old, she is a Shepherd mix who was rescued from the shelter without information about her past. Giada is settling into her foster home and her foster reports that she is house trained, crate trained, quite, loveable, good on leash, well behaved and shows good manners. Every person who meets her instantly says..."I REALLY LIKE THIS DOG!!!" Giada is fostered with dogs and cats. While she gets along well with the dogs in her foster home and at events. She is tolerating the cats but we think she would do best in a home without them. She absolutely loves people and adores her human children (9 &12 years) in her foster home and she will make a great companion. Giada seems to be an easy, low maintenance girl who wants to love her people. She is quiet, and her foster said just one word could sum her up: awesome! Jacey takes her treats nicely and will lie near you when it is time to relax. Jacey is very gentle with kids who approach her, and she is just so easygoing. She is a sweet, older girl who would like a soft, warm bed in a loving forever home to spend the rest of her years. Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Please contact Adoption (coastalgsrsd@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Miller is a very friendly guy, he loves people, loves to cuddle, and needs a family who can spend lots of fun time with him. He is very eager to please and learns commands quickly. He liked his previous family’s cat and engaged her to play but knows when to submit if she got irritated with him. He was neutered when found and he has put on some weight since then; he was starving when found. He pulls on the leash but it’s energy and excitement, not aggression. He’s been learning better manners and he’s house-trained. His favorite game is fetch and he loves tug ropes. He will play in the sprinklers and try to eat them if you’ll let him. He is always ready to play and will bring you his toys to show you he wants your time! Rawhide makes him sick but he loves to chew on his Nylabone or any other bones you provide. He’ll bring toys and bones to show you and then will relax nearby to chew them and hang out. Need a fun-loving boy like Miller? Please visit http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs to see further descriptions. If you are interested in me, please contact us at information@coastalgsrsd.org or call (858) 779-9149. Don't forget to fill out our online application. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers. We show our dogs at adoption events every weekend! Check our our website to see where we'll be next! Peter came to ARWOB along with 8 other poodle mix dogs. He and his companions were relinquished from a low income family in Tijuana who had been selling or giving them away. They needed help and ARWOB stepped in to rescue the entire group. All of the dogs were flea and tick infested, but are now healthy and ready to find their forever homes. Being that they have lived in the backyard together their entire lives, we are hoping that a potential adopter will consider adopting a doggie friend to keep them company. However, they get along well with all dogs and would do well in a home where other dogs already reside. Would you like to give this gorgeous girl the love she deserves? Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Meet sweet-spirited Italia (called Bella by her foster family)! We would like Italia to find just the right family for her, we are offering a special reduced adoption donation of $200 to help this long-term foster find her perfect forever home. This two-year-old lab mix was rescued with her four puppies. She took excellent care of them and they have all gone off to their own forever homes. Italia is house trained, has nice house manners, and she enjoys looking out the front window to see what is going by. She is fairly laid back and is friendly with house guests. Italia knows quite a few commands and enjoys doing them, especially when there is a treat involved (which she takes gently). This sweet girl enjoys hanging out in the yard sunbathing, playing with her dog toys, and playing a good game of fetch followed up with some belly rubs and cuddling. Italia can be choosy with other dogs, she does love the resident dog in her foster home, but she is not a fan of dog parks or dog beaches. She enjoys going for a walk and does better with a prong collar or she could be a good candidate for an Easy Walk harness. Italia is a happy and loving girl and her tail is always wagging! She is playful, enjoys a good snuggle, and likes to give kisses. Italia would like a family that is around more often than not and she can be crated for short periods of time. This beauty would prefer to meet you at her foster home, if you would like to meet Italia, your first step would be to fill out an adoption application on our website, then request a meet with her once you are approved. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever. Rocky John might be getting up there in years but don't let that fool you. He still loves to get in the water and cool off for a swim. He loves to wander the yard and then come in and dig through the doggie toy box for just the right bone. He needs to take off a few pounds to lighten the load especially on his back legs. He is on medication for his legs and some senior pain control. Rocky is a love, so easy to have around and just as kind as kind can be. He is neutral with all the other dogs no reaction and just does his own thing. He would be best in a home without a lot of stairs and where he can roam free.
