    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dutch Shepherd / Mountain Dog / Mixed. Bambi, neutered male, 3 years old, 40 Lbs. Meet Cuddly Bambi When I walked my dogs out, I often saw Bambi with a homeless person staying under a bridge near my home for a few months. They seemed quite enjoyed being with each other. For some reason, I started to see Bambi hang around all by himself and that person was gone. Sometimes he disappeared for a couple of hours but always returned to the same spot like he was waiting for someone. From time to time I looked out of my window, Bambi was sitting there quietly. Sometimes there were dogs came to play, he still wouldn’t go far and keep coming back like the spot was his home. Watching what Bambi was doing became my routine job before I went for work or came home. Day after day, His figure got slimmer, his energy seemed decreasing and his eyes were full of loneliness. Obviously the homeless person left him. But Bambi didn’t know. When a heavy storm came, I saw Bambi hiding under a pier, all wet and shivering. I couldn’t bear to see him staying in the pouring rain to get sick. I decided to take him in, despite my family’s disagreement. When Bambi saw me coming near, he was a little surprised. Instead of running away, he came to me slowly and smiled at me. That was the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. Quickly I covered him with a raincoat and took him out of the lonely place. When Bambi stepped into my apartment, he was a little scared to meet my family and the dogs. I petted him nicely and gave him a good bath. He was thrilled and started to play with my dogs. That was a good sign. My family finally agreed to keep him for awhile because he was such a friendly fellow. After a thorough physical checkup and a blood work in an animal hospital, Vet said he had a little dehydration syndrome but not to worry too much. His healthy condition was fine. After giving him all necessary vaccines and rabies shot, Bambi started his new life staying with us. Perhaps he’s been living out long enough, he is such a submissive and sweet boy to meet most of creatures. He doesn’t bark much and is affectionate. He likes to play with my dogs and is friendly with my cat, too. Because of his great temperaments, we started to think of his future. A good dog like Bambi deserves a loving family to cherish him. Unfortunately, due to his mix breed and size, we know there is less chance for Bambi to find a home in Taiwan. After thorough consideration for Bambi’s own good, we contacted AHAN Org. and hoping they can help to find Bambi a forever sweet home abroad, giving him a chance to explore the wonderful world than just stocked here in a small apartment. Bambi is a medium high energy young doggie. He gets along very well with dogs and people. In fact, he likes intimate pets and is cuddly. The best thing I like about him is he always carries a sweet smile to welcome me home at the door. Bambi certainly can be a great home dog and a loyal companion to comfort you. Lydia

    Breed: Mutt

Posted Breed: Mountain Dog / Mixed. Lydia, spayed female, 8 months old, 29 Lbs. Meet Sweet Lydia . Hi, this is Lydia’s rescuer. I have encountered many rescues but was totally moved by Lydia and her sibling brother’s situation! The story started from an SOS post in a Facebook group. A picture showed two little puppies stayed next to some decayed small animals’ bones in an abandoned grave yard. One was licking the bones, another was just sitting still with a pair of dull eyes. Obviously these two little pups were trying to feed themselves with some rotten leftover from other strays’ hunt. The picture got many replies but didn’t see anyone dare to go over the grave yard and check. I had no idea how I got the courage, I left a message to the person who posted the picture and got the direction. It was ‘nowhere’, couldn’t even find the spot on GPS. However, I followed my instinct and finally got there. When I arrived, I was stunned and feeling so hopeless. The grave yard was so big that I didn’t know where to start seeking the pups. Maybe it was God’s will, after I searched over an hour, I finally spotted Lydia and her sibling lying next to a big grave stone. They were so tiny and skinny. When they saw me coming, amazingly, they ran toward me with happy wagging little tails. Immediately I handed them fresh food and water. They were thrilled to swallow everything in a second. After the feast, I put them in a crate and took them out of the spooky place. Not surprisingly, they both got many ticks and fleas all over their tiny bodies. The Vet gave them necessary shots and cleaned off all the fleas. Under a month medical care, Lydia and her sibling gained back weight to what they were supposed to be. The rough life seemed not to leave any trace in them. They are happy and cuddly. Lydia was born with a sweet nature. She is so friendly and mellow to meet most of creatures. She is very food motivated. Any one comes to her with treats will immediately becomes her buddy. Lydia also does very well with dogs. She is playful and easily merging into a gang. In fact, she likes to follow what other elder dogs do. That helps her learning commends easily at foster home. Lydia is also very good with foster cat. I guessed she thinks cats and dogs are same friendly creatures. However, if she overhears some strangers coming at the door, she’ll bark for warning. After she meets the strangers coming inside the house, she will initially come forward to make friends and check if there is any ‘treat’ for her. A naïve sweet pup like Lydia deserves a loving home. She is housebroken outside and inside on a potty pad, not a barker and with a clean bill of health. If you have a friendly elder dog at home that will welcome a little furry sister to join the family, please visit www.ahan.org to view “Lydia’s” videos, click “APPLY” to fill out online application to take her home. Breed: Mutt

    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dutch Shepherd / Mountain Dog / Mixed. Basil, 1.5 years old, neutered male, 44 Lbs. Meet Mellow Basil Basil, a shy but very mellow dog who used to have a home. Perhaps he is too mellow being a factory guard dog, he was abandoned on a street. Regardless he had no idea where he was, he kept walking and walking to find any trace back home. One day when he came near a house, the smell of food made him stop. All of sudden hunger crashed him down. When he was about to sit quietly at the door, just in time, a mid age lady opened the door seeing him eye to eye. Without second thought, she turned back to the house and came back with a bowl of food for him… From that day, Basil got a shelter with the lady. Unfortunately, the lady must work day and night that didn’t have time to walk Basil out. “For such a mellow good doggie, Basil deserves a better home”, she thought. So she reached out to a rescuer, to help Basil finding a permanent loving home. Basil was born with a very mellow nature. Luckily a gentleman took him in and foster. He took Basil out play and walk as much as he can. He taught Basil some commends, encouraging him to meet different kind of people on streets, in a park or even taking him to attend adoption fair as often as possible. Gradually Basil walked out of his shell and become socialized day after days. Although Basil is still a little shy to meet strangers, by giving him some treats to show your friendliness, he will come to you for nice pets. After he gets to know you better, he will be cuddly and longing for snuggles. Basil is a well behaved and royal doggie. If he takes you as the best friend, he truly follows you everywhere and easy to recall. Basil enjoys going out to hike or runs free in a park. He is never a trouble maker to raise any dog fight; instead, he stays calm and cautious to join play. Basil is friendly with cats, too. There are several cats at foster home that makes him pretty friendly with cats. Under foster family’s intensive care, Basil is housebroken outside, has a clean bill of health. What Basil dreams of is a real home to call his own. A simple life family who is willing to devote a little more time and patience to become his buddy.
