They are sweet and adorable pups who will be looking for homes that will help them grow and learn everything there is to learn to become a good canine citizen. Of course, it goes without saying that these puppies will need someone home most of the day. They still need lots of socialization and have to continue learning to be potty trained. Also to be noted, that they are schnauzer mixes, so there will be some shedding and they are definitely NOT hypoallergenic. They will be ready to go in a few weeks after they are neutered. Please remember that puppies (any puppy) are really cute, but are also a 10-15 yr commitment. Please fill out an application if you think you can give one of these little boys a forever home. www.rosieanimaladoption.ca This organization is run entirely by volunteers and we try our best to save as many homeless dogs as possible. Since there are only a few volunteers, please understand that we are unable to answer phone calls about the animals. The first step is to fill out an adoption application which you can find at: www.rosieanimaladoption.org . You will be contacted only if you are a suitable match. Rosie Animal Adoption does not have a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs. All showings are by appointment after your application has been approved, or at adoption clinics. If you have any questions, please email us at rosieadoption@hotmail.com . All family members must be present at time of adoption. Please note, we do not adopt strays to families with children under 12. Become a Foster Care Guardian! Do you have a sweet spot for all things furry, but are not ready to adopt for some reason or another? Or maybe you know you will be able to care for a pet for the short term, but are not sure about your long term living situation. Now could be the perfect time to become a Foster Care Guardian and open your home and your heart. Rosie supplies veterinarian care which includes vaccinations, de-worming and de-fleaing as well as well as spaying and neutering. Rosie also supplies collar, leash, good quality dog food and cage. Rosie often needs foster homes for puppies. Puppies cannot be left alone a complete day. All the foster dogs need is love and care. A car is a must. rescue
    Breed: English Coonhound
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Ontario, ON
Posted Breed: English Coonhound / Coonhound (short coat). Meet Heidi! A pretty English Redtick Coonhound! Age: Approximately 1-2 years Sex/Altered: Female, spayed Breed: English coonhound mix Foster home location: Oshawa ON Adoption fee: $400 Temperament: Playful, timid, and affectionate Activity level: medium-high energy, in short bursts. Needs nap time in between Up to date on shots: yes House trained: so far so good Crate trained: crates well overnight and for nap time; no accidents OK with dogs: yes OK with cats: yes – tries to get the cat to play OK with kids: older kids due to door-dashing Origin: Kentucky shelter; stray Requirements: securely fenced yard is required at all times; no apartment; positive-based training classes following adoption; ideally another well socialized dog in the home; no off-leash activities without safe containment (eg hiking, camping, cottaging). Heidi has just made her way to Gentle Jake’s Coonhound Rescue please be sure to check back for updates as we get to know her better. She is a pretty, petite English coonhound mix, just 45lbs. Since her arrival, Heidi has been the life of the party! All puppy, she has been happily exploring her new surroundings by nose and by mouth, checking everything out and trying to get her new canine and feline housemates, to play with her. She likes to carry items in her mouth: towels, clothes, blankets, shoes from one place to the next. She doesn’t destroy or chew them; but enjoys moving things around. Heidi’s soft, beautiful fur and playful, funny disposition suggests she is quite young. She doesn’t seem to have any experience walking on a leash or any understanding of basic behaviors such as “sit.” Yet! She took the stairs 3 at a time the first evening. Heidi can be timid and skittish when she’s unsure, but she’s a quick and willing learner with calm, cheerful encouragement and yummy rewards. She responds appropriately and easily to gentle re-direction when mouthing on something that isn’t a chew-toy and loves to pitch her toys in the air and return them to the couch. Once tired, she’s very happy to settle in for snuggle-and-snooze time on the couch with her people & is really affectionate and sweet. As with all young dogs, Heidi will benefit from doggie good manners training and from regular opportunities to socialize with experienced, polite dogs at a doggie daycare facility or securely fenced dog park. Would you like to learn more about Heidi? Please contact houndrescue@yahoo.ca Please Note: We are all volunteers and busy taking care of our foster dogs so please take the time to fill out our on-line adoption application if you are interested in more information about any of the hounds that we have for adoption. Filling out our application does not obligate you to adopt in any way. It does, however, help us to determine if the dog that your interested in would be a good match for your family and lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vetted. They have been vaccinated, altered, microchipped and heartworm tested and on prevention. VISIT COONHOUND COMPANIONS WEBSITE TO SEE WHY ADOPTING A COONHOUND CAN BE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! www.coonhoundcompanions.com ADOPTION FEE: $400.00 LOCATION: Heidi is currently in foster care in Oshawa, ON. With the help of volunteers, transportation to her forever home can possibly be arranged. Don't let distance deter you! Huck

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Toronto, ON
Posted Breed: Hound / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Huck is available for adoption and is in a foster home just north of Toronto sweet hound boy approx. 7 years old good with people, other dogs and is housetrained; we do not know about cats; we feel he would not be the best match for a family with young children as per foster mom reports "during the Christmas season he sometimes startled (and appeared a bit anxious) when a lot of people were moving quickly and talking loudly" read more about Huck here: - he LOVES going for walks (especially trail walks) but wants everyone to know that he can turn his bursts of energy on & off like a switch - Huck is the perfect "companion dog" and thinks it's heaven to lay at your feet while you read or watch TV - he doesn't enjoy car rides and can't seem to relax even if you're riding in the back seat beside him - he has never soiled, chewed or damaged anything in the house and shows no signs of SA - he doesn't need many toys. Huck doesn't play with balls or stuffed animals; doesn't play fetch or tug and thinks squeaker toys are downright scary - he doesn't roll in the grass or snow or engage in any of the usual doggy silliness, but does get the puppy zoomies if you play-bow and urge him on - Huck is wary of new things that he encounters in his environment and is quick to bark when he feels insecure or nervous - he LOVES snoozing in the sun, so Huck would like a house with large windows where he can follow the sun around from room to room - Huck LOVES food... he will do anything for food, so he's easy to train... on the other hand, when you leave the house, don't leave any food accessible, because it won't be there when you get home Oh... and he snores!

    Missy

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Husky Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Toronto, ON
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Husky / Mixed (short coat). Missy is currently in a foster home north of the city, in the Barrie area, but foster parents are often in Toronto and are happy to meet potential adopters at that time. A lovely laid back girl Missy is approx. 10 years old white German shepherd mix and looking for a home with someone who loves going for walks, snooze time and a soft bed to call her own. Missy is good with other dogs, friendly with people and a gentle soul. She is not good with cats from what we have been told. She is great in the car and loves road trips, was very good for her veterinary exam (some squirming but no biting or snapping). She is quiet in the home and does enjoy curling up on the love seat by the sunny window. She is totally housetrained and when taken out regularly always performs. For an older lady she is in great shape and can run and jump, and was also seen counter-surfing the other day! She is a really great dog who would be a nice match for adopters in a house or an apartment as she does not bark when left alone and would be able to cope socially with apartment living. We don't think she'd be a match for a young family with small children as her previous home she did not enjoy their company or the high energy and busyness.

    Spinner

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Beagle
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Toronto, ON
Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). This sweet tiny (18 pounds) beagle is 2 year old Spinner boy who is currently in a foster home in the Brampton area. He is always eager to meet other dogs on walks and is pleasant with his meet and greet style. He wants to be friends with his canine foster brother and is happy to share his space and toys. Spinner just LOVES people. He tugs and pulls excitedly on his leash when he wants to get to someone (or a dog) that he sees. He tries to convince his foster parents to go too, even if it’s the opposite direction. Overall he’s very good on leash and likes to sniff around. No tugging until he wants to make friends with someone. Be prepared if he sees a squirrel, he will want to chase it and will bark. As most beagle he can be vocal and has been heard barking when left alone. The foster home does not have a cat so we are not sure what Spinner would be like with a feline friend however we can always find out if you are interested in adopting him. He is not confined in the house and so far, he hasn’t chewed or knocked anything over, but he is curious and may pull things out of an open waste can or see what he can reach. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at nighttime in his foster home. He is happy to be with any family member who is willing to share their affection. He’s quickly learning manners and will benefit from a family willing to invest time and training. We feel he would be fine with respectful children in the family. He has a bit of an overbite but eats and drinks just fine so no medical intervention is required. A VERY SWEET and SOCIAL little chap who will be a great addition to a loving family!

  • Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix Dog For Adoption in St Mary's, ON

    Willow

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: St Mary's, ON
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Willow came into ARF’s care after having lived a life outdoors, tied to her shelter. What a huge change for her to now be living in foster care with a family, 2 resident dogs and a couple of kitty cats! She is a joyful and happy dog despite her rough start in life and is beginning to adapt to residing in a warm home. She is a clever gal and absolutely craves the attention of all humans! Her blonde curvy coat and floppy ginger ears draw attention from everyone who meets her. Willow is house-trained, sleeps on a dog bed (or shares a bed with her humans!) but does not currently go into a crate. She puts a high value on her new-found freedom and so her foster home is working with her to slowly introduce different spaces and new sights and sounds. Sometimes an unfamiliar noise will startle her, however she needs only a bit of time to understand new things around her. Willow greets all people with tail wags and enthusiasm. She is practicing responses to basic commands and with treats, praise, and patience she will soon be a star. Her leash walks are coming along well, and she loves to play with balls and squeaky toys. Willow will need to have a fenced yard in her adoptive home so that she is free to explore her own space while staying safe. She plays well with other friendly dogs one-on-one as her preference is to not be overwhelmed with too many dog buddies at once. Even though Willow is living in foster care with a cat, we think that her curiosity is fairly high so should likely not have one in her forever home. Because of her background, Willow also puts a very high value on food, so if she lives with other dogs an adopter must be savvy about management of this. Willow has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and received de-wormer. This bouncy gal is ready to find her friend-for-life and smother them with love. Could that be you? Visit www.arfontario.com/project/willow to submit an application!
