Posted Breed: Foxhound (medium coat). Spend the rest of forever with me Hi, I'm Cisco. Since I'm a little older, it's time for me to retire and reflect on all the things I love about life. I love people. And I love food. Food is amazing. I love when people give me food. I also love when people pet me, because it feels sooo good. And you know, I think it's only fair I treat myself to some pampering every once in a while. I deserve it after so many years at Paws 4 You. I think we have established that people are my favorite, and well, since I’m a little older, I’d rather have a family all to myself instead of sharing with another animal. Oh yeah, another thing I love is the fresh air. Be sure to check out my video to watch me enjoy the wind in my ears. Going for walks is the best, but I'd rather not run. I'm actually really well-mannered on a leash. Trust me, I have plenty of experience in that department. Even though the volunteers are good to me when they come around, I would really like to spend the rest of my life in a real home with a lot of comfy beds, and people who like petting me and taking me for strolls every day. I want it so bad that I have pulled some pretty embarrassing stunts. One time when a volunteer was walking me, I just tried getting into every car in the parking lot. I didn’t have any luck with that because of the dumb door things though. But maybe if you come visit me, I can get lucky and go home in your car? English Foxhound

A.K.A. : Foxhound
Overview: The English foxhound is a medium sized dog with a long muzzle, long shoulders and long straight legs. The feet are small and cat-like and the ears are set low and hang. In some hunting hounds, the tips of the ears are removed (rounded) to avoid injuries during the hunt.
Breed Group: Hound
Weight (lbs): 55-75
Height (in): 23-27
Colors: Any good hound color.
Coat: The coat of the English foxhound is short and glossy, dense and hard.
Character: The English foxhound has a reputation of being an intelligent and brave dog with a pleasant personality. The breed thoroughly enjoys the hunt and can run for hours. When compared to the American foxhound, the English breed is a little slower and stockier.
Temperament: The English Foxhound was originally a pack hound, thus, it gets along well with other dogs and enjoys human companionship. It gets along with horses, children, and other pets, seeing as it is a gentle, social, and tolerant breed.
Care: English Foxhounds need minimal coat care. Occasional rub down the coat with a rough cloth is sufficient.
Training: Firm, no nonsense leadership is required. Obedience training should begin early. The "come" command is the hardest to teach because of scent distraction.
Activity: It is a very active breed that enjoys the hunt. Though it is slower than the American Foxhound it enjoys running and will run all day with very few breaks in between.
Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Health Issue: There are very few health factors in this breed. Occasionally seen are chronic hip dysplasia and renal disease.
Life Expectancy: 10-13 years

More About English Foxhound Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Let's be family Hi everyone, my name is Carl. I've been at Paws 4 You a long time, and I'm starting to lose hope that I'll ever find a home. You see, unfortunately I don't get along with other animals, and that makes it really hard for me to get outta here. But I really do want to, and I hope that someone knowledgeable and confident and strong will give me a chance. Besides being really good looking (just being honest, folks!), I LOVE people, and I love to go for walks, bike rides, and runs with them. Maybe we could do some of that fun stuff together? It really would be so special. If you think you could keep me safe and secure, please talk to Paws 4 You about how we could be a family. Posted Breed: Beagle (medium coat). Be my cuddly human! Hello humans, my name is Daphne. I wanted to let you all know that I am currently looking for a quiet home with humans around who are especially good at petting. I can be a talkative gal, because I want to let everyone know how much I love them. I even remind them to pet me when they forget – you can watch my video to see what it’s like to be reminded by me . Being good at being petted is my passion in life, and I'm really looking forward to fulfilling that in my near future. Long walks can be a little challenging for me, so I'd mostly prefer to lay by your side and... well... be pet. Although if you took me home, maybe you could help me with my diet, and then maybe I could walk more. I would like to try that. I'm also pretty good at snuggling and would love to find a cuddly human to do that with. Are you good at snuggling? Maybe you could be my cuddly human.
