Born March 14th, these pups will be available to good homes around the end of May. We have eight pups in the litter. Three are male, and five are female. Since the sire is a liver and white, and the dam is a black and white, the litter is a mix. Two are liver/white ( a male and a female) and six are black/white ( 2 males, 4 females). As of April 2 we have three males and one female not spoken for. These pups are not AKC registered. The sire's lineage is unknown, but the dam's bloodline is from field trial champs. One of her grandfathers was imported from England and we have her lineage outline if you are interested. Both parents love to hunt and we enjoy working over them during the fall bird season. This is the dam's first whelping and all the pups were born healthy and are gaining weight as they should. The pups have had their dew claws removed and tails docked. Tail length is in keeping with field trial preferences, tending towards the longer side, to keep the white 'flag'. As for worming and shots, we believe that less is better. We will not routinely administer worming or Coccidia meds unless the pups' fecal exams shows positive for infestations. Pups' fecal exams are done at the 3rd, 4th, and 6th week of life. Regarding shots, we prefer not to vaccinate the pups until about six months old. This gives their immune system time to fully develop and they stand a better chance of not having adverse reactions to adjuvants and metals contained in the vaccines. We feel this starts the pups out in life with better overall health. This philosophy is contrary to many people's ideas of what constitutes proper puppy protocols, and if you are interested we will be willing to forward information on studies regarding canine holistic health practices. Springers are wonderful dogs, whether you are looking for a great hunting partner or simply a dedicated family companion. They are a high energy, happy spirited, curious, and loyal breed.
