verifiedPosted Breed: German Pinscher (short coat). Julio is an awesome little guy who came from a neglectful home, and had an owner who just didn’t care. He was penned alone outside, rarely given social interaction or toys, and when his owner decided he no longer had need for a dog, he threatened to take Julio up to the mountain and just let him go. Thankfully, a local animal activist heard about his threat, and stepped in to save Julio from being abandoned. Julio came to N. Va in late March, and while he was fearful the first day, he only needed a little time to adjust to life indoors, as well as all the new people and smells. Things like hardwood floors and doorways were new to him, but now he has turned out to be a great little houseguest. His foster mom, Leah, adds, “Julio is very loyal and loving, house-trained, and playful. He does scare easily, and it takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does he's a total love bug. He really just wants to be loved, he is very loyal to his master and gets along great with other dogs. He’s had no destructive behavior in the home, and just had a playdate with a mini Husky and loved it.” Julio needs a patient, experienced dog owner who will give him some time and space to settle in. When he’s scared he can snap out of fear, and has a bark that is surprisingly loud for a little guy, but he is acting out of fear, not aggression. He would fit best in a calmer home without young kids, and would be great with other dogs, or with an owner who has a flexible schedule. This little guy has only been in his foster home a few weeks, and has really blossomed. We can wait to see him take him continue to grow.
