    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. We were Sammy's last hope at a super over-crowded shelter. He is friendly craves gentle attention & takes treats gently. He has very expressive ears & beautiful tail feathers. Sammy seems like one of those boys that would follow you everywhere and is very polite. Dog friendly and very sweet. More info. to come as he relaxes in our foster home. UPDATE: Sammy is doing great at his foster home with another female GSD. They love playing and going for long walks. He is a love. Here is his shelter video by volunteers: https://youtu.be/eRHqIST_WIg House-training is in progress. Update: He is now doing much better and not counter surfing. He loves playing with another dog at Red Rover Doggie Day Care and very active. Sammy would be happiest with another playful dog unless the home can truly exercise and take him out for dog socials. He is well behaved for our car rides and on leash at our showcases. Sammy wants to bond to person and be your best friend! Sammy needs someone around home with yard maybe another dog playmate or dog socials to play. He is active. Adult home. Kids 12 yrs+. Once he gets his daily exercise he is very well behaved.YouTube: https://youtu.be/eRHqIST_WIg

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Cole IS AVAILALBE (updated 07-13-2017).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Cole, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=17640&name=ColeCole is a friendly Shepherd who gets along with other dogs, particularly large female dogs. What can we say - he's a ladies man! This handsome guy spent some time in a foster home and would be a great addition to an active family. Cole is very strong and doesn't know his own strength, so we recommend a home with no very young children. He is enthusiastic and curious and would do fantastic in a home that loves to train with their dog. Cole bonded very quickly to the volunteers that he met and just wants a person or family to call his own.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

    Sweet Pea

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Sweet Pea IS AVAILALBE (updated 07-13-2017).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Sweet Pea, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21480&name=Sweet PeaSweet Pea is about 2 years old and a very special girl. Sweet Pea was born with a condition which causes her to have limited mental and physical capacities. She has hydrocephalus, which is 'water on the brain'. In Sweet Pea's case, most of the brain tissue has been replaced with fluid. While there is nothing that can be done to reverse her condition, she is stable and has a good quality of life. She is on anti-seizure medication as a precaution, but has not had a seizures in a long time. She has the enthusiasm of a puppy but the walk and gait of an older dog. She is easy to walk on a leash and happy to go out and about. She is able to learn things, it just takes her a little more time than normal dogs. She gets along with other dogs and even cats, as she wants to be friends with all animals! She lived in a home with older children for a short time and had not issues, but currently lives in a foster home with both small and large dogs and gets along with all of them. She has no problems going up and down stairs and navigates both inside and out without any issue. She also loves to play with toys and chases after balls. Sweet Pea needs the right home with someone who will accept her for who she is. She would also do best in a home with other dogs with whom she can play and who will also provide her with a good role model. Her adopters will also have to be careful with medications that are used, as some things are known to trigger seizures and these should be avoided. While we have no idea what her prognosis is nor how long she will live, Sweet Pea is a happy and healthy dog and is enjoying every moment given her. She is thriving in her foster home, but we would love to see her find a family who will love her forever, no matter how long that is. Could you be the family who will look past her limitations and see her gentle nature and loving soul? The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. Calli

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Baby
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Calli IS AVAILALBE (updated 07-13-2017).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Calli, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21796&name=CalliWe rescued Carly with her 3 puppies when they were about 2 weeks old. The pups eyes were not even open yet. They had a 4th sibling that was given away prior to us rescuing them. Calli was significantly smaller than her siblings and was also missing a toe on her left hind foot. This probably happened when she was born as she had a scab where the toe should have been. It didn't affect her mobility then or now. Calli continued to fall behind her siblings when they began weaning and she was diagnosed with Mega-esophagus back in March. She quickly fell behind her already larger siblings due to not being able to keep her food down. With no other option, the vet inserted a stomach tube to give her much needed nutrients and also to give her esophagus a rest. The feeding tube combined with oral medications and upright feeding did the trick and Calli started to get back on track. Once she was eating well by mouth her feeding tube was removed. Calli eats canned food formed into small meatballs and requires a Bailey Chair to keep her upright while eating and for 20 minutes after. She is also on a few medications to help move the food through her GI tract. She also gets liquids in her chair so gravity can help everything get to her stomach and stay there. The vet will continue to monitor her condition as she grows up and we are hoping with good management her condition will continue to improve. We now feel that she is ready to start to find a family who is ready to take on her special needs. She is doing well on 3 meals a day and is gaining weight and growing like a weed. Now 4 months old, she is just starting to get her adult teeth so she is still a bit behind for her age. Otherwise she is a happy active pup, who loves to play. She is incredibly smart and learns quickly. She will do best with a family who will keep her mind and body active. She loves other dogs so we would love to place her in a home that has another playful dog in the house. She is a typical German Shepherd Puppy, mouthy, into everything and talkative. She needs a family with German Shepherd experience and committed to training her and insuring she grows up to be well socialized adult. Raising a puppy is hard work, but very rewarding. It takes a lot of time and energy to ensure they grow up correctly. The requested adoption donation for Calli is $500.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. For more information and the adoption application for Storm, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21783&name=StormHis name is Storm, but he has the sunniest and sweetest disposition! Especially for a dog that was neglected and kept caged in the backyard 90% of the time. While in the cage, he did not have a blanket, bed, food or water. He was hit and mistreated by the male in the house. When neighbors rescued him, he was covered with fleas and had matted hair. The groomer had to wash and comb him out four times to get all of the fleas! Since he was outside all of the time, Storm is not housebroken. Like all German Shepherds, he is sharp and will catch on quickly with a regular routine.Storm is 18 months old and, since he has been rescued, he has been curious about people and other dogs. He is playful and just so happy to be out and running around. He has recently been around children under the age of six and has been good around them. He will need some basic obedience and leash training. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. Yes, he's basic obedience trained, house trained, crate trained, takes treats gently, etc., but he isn't ready to go out into the world and work a full-time job. He's got too much playing to do and too many cuddles to beg for, so he won't be putting on a suit and tie.
