She is not a fan of small animals nor other female large dogs, but does like male canine companions. This cutie walks nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She is protective too, and will definitely let you know if someone is coming to visit. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

More About German Shepherd Dog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

She can be somewhat particular about her canine friends so, if you are interested in meeting her and have another dog, the best approach is to introduce the two of them to see how she does- ideally, her buddy will be a mellow boy. Foxy loves going for walks- she doesn't pull or race along, just strolls along enjoying the fresh air and time with a human. Foxy will make a great addition to an adult family and will do best with a strong handler. She is housebroken and knows a number of commands. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. He's very smart and would be the perfect dog for a home with German Shepherd experience. He is high energy and great with people, but needs to brush up on his canine skills; he was never socialized and doesn't understand how to approach other dogs. This handsome lad is well on his way to becoming a perfectly balanced boy. Zeus has completed obedience training and is learning more and more each day. He's very treat motivated and ridiculously smart, which makes him a quick study. Zeus loves people and he wants nothing more than to become your best friend! The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. For more information and the adoption application for Maximus, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=20566&name=MaximusMaximus is a stunning, large boy who has had training and knows his basic commands. He's a quick study, as he loves to please the people he trusts and loves his treats. He also loves his walks (who doesn't?), his ball (which can often be seen in his mouth, no matter what he's doing), and car rides, loving to stick his head out of the window to smell the world and feel the wind in his hair. Although we haven't had Maximus in the yard with others, he has met many large dogs, while on leash, and had no problems with them; he usually acts as if they weren't there and shows little interest. We don't know how Maximus was treated before rescue, but he doesn't trust strangers. Once he knows you, he's amazing, but it will take a few meetings to establish you as a friend. If you're a strong handler with GSD experience and are looking for a gorgeous and loyal addition to your family, you've met your match! The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. Thanks to a Good Samaritan, the mother and her puppies were saved, one of them being Poncho. He was originally adopted as a puppy, but his family was moving and couldn't take him with them, so he's now back with the rescue. This boy with the stunning brown eyes is potty trained, good in the house and loves going for outdoor adventures. It's like there's this thing that only you and he share, that only you and he know, that says everything in the universe must've aligned completely to make such an adorable dog with such an amazing soul that was made to match yours. Or maybe one of his ears just didn’t stand upright, but we like our first guess better. Hank is quite the character! He has a very playful personality and absolutely loves a good game of catch. His friends feel that Hank is the perfect dog- he loves people, knows basic commands and is as smart as a whip. Hank is seeking a fun loving, energetic family who will teach him boundaries and the proper guidelines, as he still has some puppy energy. He responds very well to leadership and is one of the sweetest boys you will ever meet. A super smart girl, she completed basic obedience training and proved to be a quick study.
