    Picasso

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Newfoundland Dog. Picasso is a very loving man who just wants a person or family of his own to lie down next to and have a relaxing night. He is good with dogs, cats, and children. He enjoys short walks and time outside with his people. Picasso really loves a clean, tidy house and is eager to help keep it neat. If you leave your undergarments lying around, he helps clean up by consuming them! If you're looking for a sweet, loving older dog that is fully trained, then Picasso is the perfect fit for you. He needs to stay groomed, otherwise he has skin problems. The use of a medicated shampoo helps control the issue. He has bilateral sub luxating hips (hip dysplasia), but he maneuvers stairs just fine. If he has a flair up, a little Rimadyl helps with his discomfort.

    Taco

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Taco is a beautiful female German Shepherd Mix with an estimated DOB of 10/13/13. She came here to the shelter through no fault of her own and she currently weighs just over 69 Ibs. Even though she is at a shelter right now, she lives everyday to the fullest. She is athletic and energetic and ready to take on the world. It’s hard for her to be cooped up in her kennel when she has so much living to do, so that’s why she is jumping up and down with excitement when you walk by her kennel. She is not a fan of cats, and she tends to like livestock (like chickens and cows) a little TOO much so probably best if there aren’t any around either. But boy does she love people, and she loves going on walks and being outside. She has been working really hard on walking on the leash without pulling, and she has made some progress. She is really smart and knows how to sit, and she responds well to treats and praise! She is loving and affectionate. Come see her at Prairie Paws, where she will be jumping up and down with excitement to see you! Her adoption fee is $150 and includes with sterilization, age appropriate vaccines, dewormer, heartworm test and microchip. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. As we get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.  All PPAS puppies and dogs are up to date on all of their vaccines (including rabies if age appropriate), and will be micro chipped and registered in the adopter's name at the time of adoption. Adopters get a free consultation at an area vet partner within 14 days of adoption. Any dog that is six months of age or older will be tested for Heartworms and if found negative, will be kept on Heartworm prevention during their shelter stay, after the adoption it is up to the adopter to continue the highly recommended Heartworm preventative treatment. Also all PPAS shelter dogs are treated with a monthly topical flea/tick preventative and we ask that adopters continue that treatment as well. Per state law we sterilize all shelter pets before they begin their new fabulous lives with their new families.  The shelter is open to the public: Mon, Wed, Thurs 11-6 and Sat 11-4. If you are interested in this dog or puppy, please either email Prairie Paws Animal Shelter at info@prairiepaws.org, for an application visit our website @ prairiepaws.org or call 785.242.2967 for more information.  Prairie Paws Animal Shelter  3173 HWY K68  Ottawa, KS 66067  785-242-2967  www.Prairiepaws.org  See Our Adoptable Pets at: prairiepawsanimalshelter.petfinder.com  Email: info@prairiepaws.org  Like Us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/prairiepawsanimalshelter  Twitter: https://twitter.com/PrairiePaws2010  Instagram:prairiepawsanimalshelter  Hours: Mon / Wed / Thurs - 11am-6pm Saturday 11am -4pm  Closed: Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday  Closed On The Following Holidays:  New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day  The phones are answered as early as 8am on any open day if you have questions or if you would like to place a hold on an animal.  Here's the scoop on the adoption process:  Placing a Hold: A hold may be placed on an animal for $20.00 a day up to 3 business days ($60.00 max). The hold fee is non-refundable and does not go towards the adoption fee. We encourage you to utilize the hold system if you are interested in a certain pet. A credit card number may be given over the phone or the fee paid at the shelter to ensure the pet you are interested in is available for a meet and greet. Placing the animal on hold makes it so others cannot have a meet and greet with the animal until the hold expires. Holds are on a first call/come first serve basis. You must call or come in, holds cannot be put down via email. You may call the shelter as early as 8am on any open day to place a hold.  In person meet and greet: Potential adopters must come and meet the animal before an adoption can take place. We cannot do over the phone sight unseen adoptions. Business hours vary and are listed on our website (www.prairiepaws.org) or at end of our email correspondence. If you have other animals you would like to bring to the meet and greet we encourage you to do so. We have outdoor enclosures and trained kennel staff will assist with all meet and greets. All family members, including children, are encouraged to attend the meet and greet.  Adoption Questionnaire: Potential adopters will need to fill out the adoption questionnaire. Adoption questionnaires are available on our website or at the meet and greet. Once complete, an Adoption Counselor will review the questionnaire with the potential adopter and will have a discussion to ask and/or answer any additional questions. From there, the adoption counselor will print and review all appropriate paperwork with the adopter to provide important and and educational information regarding the animal.  Adoption fees: Adoption fees must be paid in full at time of adoption – no partial payments are accepted. Cash, Check or all major credit cards are accepted. Adoption fees vary. Please note if you live in the city of Ottawa a dog license fee must also be paid at time of adoption. Annual renewal of dog licenses is required between January 1st and February 15th.  Taking your animal home: The State of Kansas requires that all cats and dogs must be sterilized (spayed/neutered) before going to their new homes. In most cases animals will have already been sterilized before being placed on the adoption floor and you will be able to take your new companion home with you the day of adoption. However, if the animal is not yet sterilized, they will need to stay at the shelter and we will schedule the surgery on the next available date (usually within a week). We do request that all dogs go home with a collar/leash, so if you have one please bring it along or we do have a great selection available in our retail area.  The shelter is open to the public: Mon, Wed, Thurs 11-6 and Sat 11-4. If you are interested in this pet, please either email Prairie Paws Animal Shelter at info@prairiepaws.org, for an application visit our website @ prairiepaws.org or call 785.242.2967 for more information.  Prairie Paws Animal Shelter  3173 HWY K68  Ottawa, KS 66067  785-242-2967  prairiepaws.org  Hours: Mon / Wed / Thurs - 11am - 6pm / Saturday 11am - 4pm  Closed: Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday
