    Samantha

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 100. Samantha ("Sam") is a lovable female German Shepherd Dog. She's an older "senior" dog (over 7 years old). The "snow" on her muzzle shows her wise, old character. One of the great "secrets" of this breed is that the very best years start once they're seniors. They're mellow, easy-going and almost seem to have telepathy to read the thoughts of the people they love at this age. They're done with puppy mischief and ready to just enjoy life. Most Shepherd-owners describe these as the "magic" years. Sam still has a lot of life left in her. She loves water and has her own swimming pool in her foster home. She plays with the water hose during the filling of the pool, biting playfully at the stream of water. She warms up to new dogs slowly, but she does okay once she knows them and trusts them, especially with good leadership from her person. She's still a solid, well-built dog. As she may knock over small children, she isn't recommended for little ones (though older, considerate kids could be okay). She's house trained and ready to join you on the couch (or in the pool....). ADOPTION FEE: $100 Upon adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Information about our adoption fees and our adoption process is available on our website: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. If you are interested in meeting any dog listed as available for adoption, please fill out an adoption application: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. Sorry, we are not able to respond to requests for information by telephone. It is not possible to meet any dog without first completing an adoption application. A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.

    Mocha

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). Adoption Fee: 250. Mocha is a gorgeous, adult, female German Shepherd Dog. We estimate that she's probably 4-5 years old, in the prime of her life. Mocha recently tested negative for heartworms, and she's spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Her structure and appearance suggests that she likely comes from working lines: she has the thick-boned, strong, straight-backed look of DDR (East German) lines. Mocha also has the personality of these lines: intelligent, dominant, protective of her people, with high prey drive. She's not an appropriate "starter dog" for a first-time Shepherd owner, but she's an incredible dog for an experienced GSD lover who appreciates and understands this kind of dog. Mocha has been great with all the people she's met. She previously lived with very young children and was gentle with them. However, she cannot live with small animals. We strongly prefer to place Mocha as an "only dog" in a home where she can bond deeply with her person, without competing for attention with another dog. She would be happiest as an only dog. At home, Mocha loves belly rubs and affection from her people. She's loving and very devoted to her family. She is, however an "alpha female" who requires an experienced handler (for this reason, a professional training reference is required). Mocha is looking for a breed-experienced adopter who understand the "drive" of working line dogs--especially prey-drive. She needs more than a walk and some basic training: she needs a job. She has the potential to thrive doing advanced obedience, or dog sports. She is already house-trained and crate-trained. ADOPTION FEE: $250 A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. Please list your trainer reference as one of your 2 personal references in the application. An adoption application is required in order to meet Mocha. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.

    Cheyenne

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 225. Cheyenne is a pretty black-and-tan female German Shepherd Dog. She's young (estimated between 2-3 years), and an adolescent transitioning into adulthood. She's around 60 pounds, making her a medium-sized female. Cheyenne is an active dog looking for someone to give her a job and a purpose. She needs to be more than a pet. She loves to please and is highly biddable. Cheyenne is an energetic girl with a very active mind. She's EXTREMELY smart -- even by the German Shepherd standard of smart dogs, she's off the charts in her problem-solving and relentlessness in staying on task. Unfortunately, without a job to channel this into, this can find expression in escape artistry -- she's a Houdini. We think once she gets a job and a purpose, she will be able to channel her brain's talent into something productive and be an incredible dog. That might be learning scent discrimination, competitive trialing -- anything. In fact, she has the potential to be a candidate for a veteran in need of a PTSD dog -- if you know a vet in need, please put him or her in touch! (We have a partnership with a veteran service nonprofit organization that could potentially help with the adoption fee for a qualified veteran.) Cheyenne is very friendly with adults, but we aren't sure about young kids. Older, calm kids might be okay. She's affectionate, gentle and loving in her foster home. She's shown us a very sweet disposition. She's also a velcro dog who must be next to her person. Nothing matters more to her than being with her person, and she hates being left alone. She gets along fine with the other dog in her foster home, but she is developing some resource guarding behavior (esp. with other female dogs) and needs to be fed separately. We think she would prefer to be an only dog. "Bossy female" behavior with other dogs is pretty common among confident, smart GSD girls, so breed-experience would be a plus. She rides well in the car. She's already got house manners in her foster home (including house training and crate training). (No cats, please -- she wants to chase the kitties!) A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). I'm a 6 year old German Shepherd. I did't get along with the smaller dog at my home so now I need to find a new forever home. Quick facts: I'm house-trained and walk on a leash. My former owners think I should go to a home where I am the only dog. As you can tell from my photo I am a big beautiful dog. I know as soon as you meet me you will want to take me home. If you are interested in adopting, please visit petsaversshreveport.org and find our adoption application under the "Dogs" tab. Completed applications can be emailed to our Adoption Team at petsavers@petsaversshreveport.org - all adoptions require a vet reference and a home check. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like to set up a meet and greet with a specific dog.

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). *Taking Applications Only* Meet Sirius (As in Sirius Black)!! Sirius is such a sweet boy and I can't believe he has had so much trouble finding a foster and forever home. He can stay in a kennel during the day and does very well in there. He also loves hanging out with you outside and sunbathing. He gets along with other dogs and clings to you like velcro. This boy is a big adorable lap dog. He h as so so much love to give and he is so super sweet. He will find the perfect home one day and make someone a fantastic dog. He has hip dysplasia but doesn't let it stop him and doesn't indicate that it's hurting him. He looks big, but he's only about 80 lbs and he's so gentle. He's approximately 6years 2months old(September), grown out of his puppy energy, but still young enough to live a long life with his future family. He loves to sit in front of you and look up at you with his head on you and give you kisses on the cheek and lay in your lap or right next to you. He doesn't like when the other dogs go up to his kennel, but once he's out of his kennel he is great with them. He actually prefers to be in his kennel during the day and isn't destructive in the kennel, so his foster keeps his kennel in a bedroom and he is very comfortable there. He is housetrained and well behaved. His adoption fee includes neuter, up to date shots, and a microchip. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet boy!! If you would like to begin the adoption process and fill out an application please use our online application available here: http://www.apawspets.org/ dog_application.html. If you cannot adopt or foster, but would like to donate to the rescue to help with the care of Sirius and others, please go to http://apawspets.org/ donate.html © Amy Shutt Photography http://www.amyshutt.com/
