    Kaiser

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 225. Kaiser is a stunning male German Shepherd Dog. He has a long coat with red pigment typical of West German show lines. It's very rare to find this color pattern in rescue! He's a middle-aged adult (probably 7+), but he acts like a younger dog. He's been great with all the people he has met. He loves to go for walks, and enjoys toys. He loves to lie next to his person and snuggle. He's a world-class cuddler and is happy to fall asleep cuddled close to his person. He's very strong and likely to jump up and knock over small kids while playing. We thus don't think he's a good choice for toddlers, but older kids could be okay. He has started a little obedience work in his foster home and knows a few commands, but he requires an adopter committed to completing a good obedience course to help him know the right thing to do. He gets along with other dogs, and he's especially fond of friendly, small dogs (he's best buds with a Yorkie in his foster home). He's just a hint of an alpha male, but he tolerates obnoxious dogs when he has to. (We do not know how he is with cats, as there aren't any in his foster home.) He still has a mischievous streak. He is very fond of electronics (cell phones, remote controls, etc.), and he will crunch on them if given a chance. He thus needs a home that will pay attention to keeping those things put away, while he learns to differentiate his toys from your treasures. He is already house trained. ADOPTION FEE: $225 Upon adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Information about our adoption fees and our adoption process is available on our website: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. If you are interested in meeting any dog listed as available for adoption, please fill out an adoption application: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. Sorry, we are not able to respond to requests for information by telephone. It is not possible to meet any dog without first completing an adoption application. A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.

    Holly

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 150. HW(+) Holly is a gorgeous female German Shepherd Dog. She's fairly large for a female (80 pounds). She has classic coloring and a regal stance that turns heads when she goes by. She's an adult likely around 3-4 years old (but possibly younger, as she still has some puppy-like behavior). Holly has already completed her first basic obedience course, and she graduated first in her class! She's very smart and biddable. She thrives on rewards-based (positive) training techniques. She's already house trained. She is playful and affectionate. She loves to snuggle with her favorite person, especially curling up together on the couch. She revels in attention, and she even likes being bathed and groomed. Holly prefers human women, but she doesn't mind men if given time to warm up. Although Holly does not live with children, she has been fine with those whom she's met (she tends to ignore them). Holly is an alpha-female -- she does not get along with other females or large dogs, but she is okay with tiny dogs. She's a bit of an "attention hog" too. She would do best in a home where she is the only dog. She currently lives with cats and is fine with them. She's a very confident, strong dog. She has displayed good judgment about protecting her foster home, barking only when there's something her human needs to notice. However, she needs a human who is strong and confident too, as she thrives with good leadership. She is not an ideal dog for a new dog owner, but she's a great dog for an experienced person who loves and appreciates the breed. For all her beauty and wonderful personality, Holly had a rough time before she came to rescue. Before she came into rescue, she suffered a blunt-force injury, probably from being hit by a car. One of her front legs was injured, and she had some nerve damage. After multiple consultations with specialists, our rescue's vet came up with a treatment plan that worked wonders for this dog. Holly healed better than we ever expected and regained use of her leg. Holly's limp has vanished, but she still has some arthritis in her elbow and shoulder from the now-healed injury. She's comfortable without needing pain medicine or medication now. She's pretty active and lives a normal life. She needs to stay lean, on good supplements with excellent nutrition. ADOPTION FEE: $225 Upon adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Mocha

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). Adoption Fee: 250. HW(-) Mocha is a gorgeous, adult, female German Shepherd Dog. We estimate that she's probably 4-5 years old. Mocha tested negative for heartworms, she's spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Her structure and appearance suggests that she likely comes from working lines: she has the thick-boned, strong, straight-backed look of DDR (East German) lines. Mocha also has the personality of these lines: intelligent, dominant, protective of her people, with high prey drive. She's not an appropriate "starter dog" for a first-time Shepherd owner, but she's an incredible dog for an experienced GSD lover who appreciates and understands this kind of dog. Mocha is great with people and kids of all ages, even very young children. She is watchful, loyal, and confident. While she enjoys meeting new people, she genuinely desires her owner to work with her and establish a deep level of trust and compassion. Once this connection is made, she is very loving and devoted to her family. Mocha is ready to settle down, and find her forever family. Although fantastic with people, her high prey drive means she has a keen interest in chasing other animals that run from her. For this reason, she cannot live with other small animals. We strongly prefer to place Mocha as an "only dog" in a home where she can bond deeply with her person, without competing for attention with another dog. However Mocha is social and likes to interact with other dogs at the dog parks. Because Mocha is an "alpha female" who requires an experienced handler, we highly encourage a professional training reference. Mocha is looking for a breed-experienced adopter who understand the "drive" of working line dogs--especially prey-drive. At a minimum, she needs a daily walk and commitment to completing training courses to keep her curious and active mind focused on working with her owner. She has the potential to thrive doing advanced obedience, or dog sports. She is already house-trained and crate-trained. She is already house-trained and crate-trained. ADOPTION FEE: $250 A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. Please list your trainer reference as one of your 2 personal references in the application. An adoption application is required in order to meet Mocha. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application: http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org. Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.

    Sirius

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). *Taking Applications Only* Meet Sirius (As in Sirius Black)!! Sirius is such a sweet boy and I can't believe he has had so much trouble finding a foster and forever home. He can stay in a kennel during the day and does very well in there. He also loves hanging out with you outside and sunbathing. He gets along with other dogs and clings to you like velcro. This boy is a big adorable lap dog. He h as so so much love to give and he is so super sweet. He will find the perfect home one day and make someone a fantastic dog. He has hip dysplasia but doesn't let it stop him and doesn't indicate that it's hurting him. He looks big, but he's only about 80 lbs and he's so gentle. He's approximately 6years 2months old(September), grown out of his puppy energy, but still young enough to live a long life with his future family. He loves to sit in front of you and look up at you with his head on you and give you kisses on the cheek and lay in your lap or right next to you. He doesn't like when the other dogs go up to his kennel, but once he's out of his kennel he is great with them. He actually prefers to be in his kennel during the day and isn't destructive in the kennel, so his foster keeps his kennel in a bedroom and he is very comfortable there. He is housetrained and well behaved. His adoption fee includes neuter, up to date shots, and a microchip. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet boy!! If you would like to begin the adoption process and fill out an application please use our online application available here: http://www.apawspets.org/ dog_application.html. If you cannot adopt or foster, but would like to donate to the rescue to help with the care of Sirius and others, please go to http://apawspets.org/ donate.html © Amy Shutt Photography http://www.amyshutt.com/

    Samantha

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 100. HW(+) Samantha ("Sam") is a lovable female German Shepherd Dog. She's an older "senior" dog (over 7 years old). The "snow" on her muzzle shows her wise, old character. One of the great "secrets" of this breed is that the very best years start once they're seniors. They're mellow, easy-going and almost seem to have telepathy to read the thoughts of the people they love at this age. They're done with puppy mischief and ready to just enjoy life. Most Shepherd-owners describe these as the "magic" years. Sam still has a lot of life left in her. She loves water and has her own swimming pool in her foster home. She plays with the water hose during the filling of the pool, biting playfully at the stream of water. She warms up to new dogs slowly, but she does okay once she knows them and trusts them, especially with good leadership from her person. She's still a solid, well-built dog. As she may knock over small children, she isn't recommended for little ones (though older, considerate kids could be okay). She's house trained and ready to join you on the couch (or in the pool....). ADOPTION FEE: $100 Upon adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped.
