    Age: Adult

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). ~~Are you looking for a super sweet gal to be by your side through thick and thin? I just may be who you are looking for! My name is Edie (but you can change it to your liking) and I'm a really smart cookie. I get along well with other dogs , both big and small , but I must tell you that I take a little while to warm ♨️ up to them. However, once I do, we are friends for the long haul ! I simply LOVE belly rubs and also having my ears scratched. I haven't been around cats, as my foster dad is allergic to them. There is a small parrot in my foster home but my folks keep us separated because I show waaaaaaaay toooooooo much interest! ❗ I love to run and play with my foster sister and brotber and I have just started showing a little interest in toys. I like to play fetch with my tennis ball and I am really good about giving it over to the tosser! I like to take walks but I could use some more practice because I sometimes like to pull.......but my sweet brown eyes give the best apologies! My paperwork has me listed as a 5-6 year old female black and brown GS at 68 lbs. but I am still a puppy at heart. That being said, I DO NOT do not do any of the puppy things though!!!!! -> I don't get on the furniture. -> I don't chew up plants, pillows, or shoes. -> I am house-broken and crate-trained. -> I don't beg at the table. -> I've never met a human stranger. Let's face it! They don't come any better or prettier than me! So, what are you waiting for?!? Go to gshope.org and submit your application. German Shepherd Hope Rescue You better hurry, I'm sure to go lightening ⚡ fast!!!!!!

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). ~~Sparky is the coolest 3 yr old you've ever met! This house and crate trained German Shepherd is all love. He is just as happy going for a hike as he is napping on the couch during a movie. Once bonded, his nerves melt away. He can be anxious around other dogs and would be best as an only dog with someone who can work with him. Sparky did come into the rescue with a female and they did great together but unknown dogs in Sparky's *space* make Sparky anxious. He was very courteous at doggy day care and left all of the other dogs alone but he was with his sibling. ( His sibling has been adopted). He is a wonderful, loving pup who will come around with other dogs with an adopter that is familiar with the breed. He knows hand signals for sit and stay! Roman

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. ~Hi friends! My name is Roman, or at least that's what my last family called me. My foster Mom calls me Fezzik, but she's kind of a geek. She says Fezzik is a better fit because I'm "the brute squad" just like Andre the Giant in the movie Princess Bride...a gentle giant, and actually quite smart.
I'm about 1 years old, 75 lbs, and have not had a stable home environment so far. I came to my foster family at 60 lbs and have made leaps & bounds in my growth, house manners, and sociability. Right now I'm learning basic commands and how to walk on a leash without taking my companion asphalt-skiing.
I am incredibly good with children, at least those I don't knock over easily. My previous family had 4 kids, the youngest had developmental/sensory disabilities & used to use me as a "wailing wall" of sorts. The good news is from that experience I'm incredibly patient and tolerant. The bad news is I'm still a little skidish when you raise your hand or when you reach for my collar and I'm not expecting it. But my geeky foster Mom has been teaching me that good things can come from raised hands, like when she throws my tug-of-war toys. She says I'm a quick learner and is confident that I won't display those fears much longer with a very loving home.
Did I mention how smart I am? I don't mean to brag, but I'm kind of a genius...I know how to open door knobs of all shapes and sizes. I can also open my crate and the refrigerator. Mom says the only things stopping me are deadbolts and locking carribeaners. Mom has gotten me used to the crate and now I'll go lay down in there when she tells me to "go home." Its not so bad, and when she needs me to stay in there and not open the door she just adds these clippy things to the door. I think I really need to put my talents to use, do you own a restaurant? Could I work there?
Speaking of restaurants, man I love to eat! My last family fed me puppy kibble, canned dog food, and raw meat. The problem was, I have an old injury to my tongue which makes it really difficult for me to keep small bites of kibble or water in my mouth. It all kind of sloshes around and back out. I do best with large bite dog foods and you'll just have to forgive my slobbery drinking.
Last but not least, do you have any of those funny fuzzy creatures that say "psssssssshhhhh"? Mom says they are supposed to say "meow" but I've never heard them say that. There are a bunch of them that roam around outside of the house and its my ever loving joy to chase them into their hiding holes. Sometimes they come out and I'll just sit there and sniff them until they get too comfortable, then I chase them around again. Don't worry, I learned real quick that they don't squeak and that its not funny if I get too close. (((Hi, Fezzik's Foster Mom here - If you have small beloved creatures (cats, ferrets, rabbits, squirrels, chickens, etc.) that live in your home that are not GSD savvy, and you don't want them chased/harassed then Fezzik may not be the pup for you. We'll keep working on that...now back to Fezzik.)))
Last but not least, I have had the best time having a friend my size to play with. My foster home companions include Mulan (dominant female GSD mix) and Otis & Cookie (two über submissive male Aussie puppies). I really don't want to be alone again...foster Mom says there's nothing worse than letting me get bored. So what do you say? I'm real handsome aren't I? I could be a real class act if you have the time and patience to invest in me. Do you have a farm? A big fenced yard? Play companions for me who could lead by example? Please?!!? I have so many talents, teach me to use them wisely! Promise I won't disappoint! If you are interested in adopting Roman...please contact your coordinator or fill out an application.  You must live in the NC, VA, or MD area. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Hello my forever home, My name is Layla. I am a 4 year old female German Shepherd and I am as sweet as cotton candy on a summer day. If you sit on the floor I will be in your lap. I might even try to be in your lap when you are in your chair. I love people. My foster mom & dad told me I did really great when we went out to eat at the restaurant. We sat outside, there were other dogs there and I didn’t bark or go after the other dogs, I just stayed with my foster mom & dad. There were some really nice folks there that wanted to pet me, I really liked that! I love to be loved. I am also good on walks, I don’t pull much and I behave myself when I see other people and other dogs. Right now I am living with 3 other German Shepherds and a cat. I have 2 foster sisters and one foster brother. It took us a little while to get used to each other but now we are best friends. We all eat together and sleep together and hang out during the day. I mentioned the cat right? Well I really don’t see her much. It is probably because when I did see her I chased her jumping over 2 child gates. Ever since then she has been in stealth mode. Oh there is that jumping thing. Dad says I am like a gazelle. I go over child gates almost like they aren’t there. Mom has told me to stop that, and I am trying, but they are just so easy. And back yard fences and gates, they are pretty easy too. A 4 foot fence is like walking over a pebble. When mom and dad tell me to stop, I listen, but the fence looks like so much fun I keep going back and staring at it. For some reason mom and dad are always watching me, so I don’t get to jump like I want to. I have been feeling pretty punky for a while. They say I had this thing called heartworms and some other stuff. They gave me heart worm treatments and some anti-somethings for my infection. I am doing much better now. But, because I was not feeling well my foster dad did not do much training with me. I do know sit! I am good at that. When mom says leave it I tend to go do something else. Give me a piece of hotdog and I can do “Down” with some encouragement. I don’t like to be yelled at; I want to be a good girl. When my foster mom or dad yells at me, I stop, put my tail between my legs, and come to them to ask for forgiveness. I really like positive reinforcement that makes me happy! I have not been around short humans yet but my foster dad thinks I would do fine. I am pretty laid back most of the time. If you work at home, I will lie at your feet and just be there for you. I am fine in my crate and I am house trained. I would be good with someone who works at home, a home with other dogs, but probably not cats. Because of the heartworm thing my foster mom and dad have kept me quiet, no running until I am fully recovered! So, I am good at walking, but I am not sure about being a running partner. But, if you are looking for a sweet dog, one who just wants you, one who loves it when we are on the floor together….well maybe we just found each other. Layla is being fostered in Charlotte, NC If you think you can offer me my forever home, please work with your adoption coordinator. If you are not yet approved to adopt but are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. ~~Hi, I'm Luna 2, a beautiful blue sable and tan girl. I weigh 70 lean pounds and my Foster Mom says I am a sweetheart. I was kept outside in my life before rescue and it appears I was forced to have many litters of puppies to make money for my owners. Then, I somehow ended up in a scary place called an animal shelter. SGSR saved me in the nick of time and now I know I will always be safe and loved. I live indoors, have a soft bed and don't have to worry if I will have food. I love eating! Yum! I also really like car rides, back scratches, hanging out with my people, taking naps, and going for walks. I get excited about walks and just can't help singing the song of my people at first. I settle down though and then I try hard to walk politely on a leash. I'm still working on that but I am making progress. I live with my foster mom and dad, four dog-savvy kids, three other dogs (a Lab, a German Shepherd Dog and a Yorkie mix) as well as three cats. I am friendly and kind to everyone and don't chase the cats unless they run away. That is just too tempting. I like the other dogs to know I am the boss but once that is established, I am a good friend to them. I have nice manners and am crate trained and house trained. I do need to be let out more than some other adult dogs. I think it might be hard for me to "hold it" for very long periods of time because I had so many puppies. That is hard on a girl's body, you know!? My age is a mystery because I have had such a hard life, but the vet guesses I am about five years young. I am healthy in every way except I have a hard time with my skin. The "blue" genetics that make me so unique and pretty also make me prone to skin issues. I need a family willing to give me lots of TLC to stay as healthy and gorgeous as possible. I will need occasional meds, grain free food and special baths to accomplish that. My Foster Mom cannot say enough good about me and says I am sweet and funny and an "easy-keeper". She says anyone who is lucky enough to adopt me will just adore me. If you'd like to meet me, please let your adoption coordinator know. If you are not yet approved, and you're in our adoption territory of VA, NC or MD, you can find our adoption application at our website, www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com. I am being fostered in Yadkinville, NC. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. Breed: German Shepherd Dog

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Raleigh...aka Rae is a beautiful 5-6 month old GSD/Belgian malinois mix that is full of energy and affection! She can be a little timid when first introduced to new people, but she bonds quickly once she is assured that all is fine. Rae is an athletic girl and is still learning not to jump up on her people, so she would be best suited for a family with older children. She loves to cuddle and give kisses, and she is doing very well with her potty training. Rae is very curious about the cats in her foster home, and although she doesn't try to hurt them, her forever home would need to have dominant, dog-aware cats or be cat-free. Rae gets along famously with other dogs and is very submissive when she meets them. As an older puppy (but still full of energy), Rae would love a family that is active so she can focus that puppy energy appropriately. If you think Rae is a great fit for your family please contact your coordinator or apply. You must live in NC, VA, or MD. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). ~~Greta is available! 5 years old, UTD, spayed and microchipped. 80 lbs. Greta gets along with most dogs but we would like to see her as an only pup. She is an alpha and needs a person of her very own to love. Greta has been through so much in her short life and deserves to be the center of attention. Greta is super sweet, loving and playful. Greta knows sit and come. She is crate trained and house trained although she is a counter surfer! She also rides nicely in the car. Greta would do best in a quiet home without a lot of visitors coming and going. Greta is very loyal to her people and takes her job as protector very seriously. When meeting some new people, she may occasionally give a loud warning bark. It is loud and it is deep! WOOF!! Slow introductions are needed. This gal is really a doll and in the right home, she will be happy and love you to the moon and back! Greta has free roam in her foster house and does very well!!
