Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Dutch Shepherd (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Hi I am Hobie! Fun and exciting like the sailboat I’m named after. I am a reformed pup. I was incarcerated in NC for the crime of being a stray! I had no home or family to bail me out. I did not know I was doing anything bad. A very nice lady with SGSR bailed me out and sent me to foster care in VA. While running the streets, I picked up heartworms. The Vet! Scary place! They told me it would be ok, and they would fix me. They stole my jewels! Gave me meds and shots! Then I was back on solitary confinement for 30 days. It was a dark time. Glory be, I am free again! Out in Gen Pop, happy and healthy. I live with two cats and two dogs, and we all get along great. I know the kennel is where I get meals with the door open, and that is my bedroom when its time for night night. I know “sit”, “down”, "high five" and “off” for when I am on the couch and mom says I shouldn’t be (something about drinking coffee in peace). I love playing fetch and the dog park too. The stay thing is kind of hard. I like to go go go. So much to see and learn. Would you like to take me to the next level…adoption? I love to learn new things and am still learning that new people aren't scary (takes me a couple of hours to warm up to a new person). What more can I say about myself except that I am stinking cute. Would you like to be my forever family? If you would like to meet Hobie, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or if you are in our adoption territory of VA, NC or MD, you can complete an adoption application at WWW.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com. Hobie is being fostered in Norfolk, VA. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .

I am a 5 year old sweet stunning and protective lady looking for a new a new family to spend the rest of my life with. I have a new lease on life as I was heart worm positive but just finished treatment and am currently in excellent health and feeling great! So listen, you don’t want to miss out on a great opportunity to take me home. I am such a great package!! I would really do well in almost any type of household. I don’t bark much at all, I love to nap, take car rides, take walks, follow you around the house and watch you do things, I am crate trained, follow you around, follow you around, did I mention follow you around? Okay, so I might like to be in the same room with you sometimes, but I don’t bother you, and I am very quiet. I do well when I am left out at home alone. I am not destructive at all, but I am the Queen of the house and sometimes I have been known to sneak on the couch for a sweet nap. I know it’s not right, but it feels so good. I love to take walks and I will sit and wait for you to put my leash on but I will sometimes pull at the beginning of the walk until I am reminded to heel. I also pull when I see new friends coming by so just ask me to sit and pet me and until I relax. I am still learning, and I love friends!!! I get along well with other dogs as long as they approach me and my family slowly to say hi, otherwise I initially might feel the need to protect my family! I mean, they do feed me and rub my belly!! I have had very limited exposure to cats. On a recent meeting they seemed okay to me, but it was a brief meeting and my dad had me on a leash. I didn’t try to eat them and my tail was wagging!!! I love all humans, I let the little ones hang on my neck, and I let the big ones take me for car rides which I really like. Leave the car door open and I am going to hop in and want you to show me the town! I know how to sit, I know the command “down” and will follow those commands to get on my leash or for a special treat. Keep working with me and I will easily follow commands on order. I am not food aggressive at all. I will eat out of your hand and don’t care if you take my bowl while I am eating, but I wonder why you do that; silly humans. I don’t beg for your food so why do you take mine; you guys confuse me sometimes. If you or your family truly wants a well behaved beautiful and gentle lady to be the newest member of your family then…pick me! Pick me! Pick me!! My Foster Dad loves me though and he told me that he will only let me go to someone who loves me as much as he does. I am being fostered in Virginia Beach, VA. If you think that I am the perfect lady to complete your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or if you’re not yet approved and in VA, NC or MD, please complete an adoption application here (be sure to read the FAQ section!): www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com Unconditional Love, Jada Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. Breed: German Shepherd Dog

    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. ~~Hi, my name is Gunner! They say I am 7 years old, but you wouldn't know it with all the energy I have. Basically I am the perfect dog: if you want to relax, I love a nap. If you want to play, I'm ready to go. My foster mom saved me from being put down at a shelter. Boy am I glad! I have so much love to give! Because of what I've been through, I have a fear of being left behind. So I hope you don't mind, but I would like to follow you where ever you go. I'll make sure you are safe as you travel from room to room. You want to run errands? I love to hang my head out of the car window! You want to go for a walk? So do I! I walk pretty good on a leash. That is until I see a squirrel. My foster mom is trying to teach me that I am not supposed to chase squirrels. But can you blame me?! They are so much fun to chase! Everyone says I am super sweet, but I'm not perfect. I can get destructive if you try to close me off away from you. That includes crates, basements, small rooms, etc. I don't mean to be destructive, I just want to come find you so badly. I dont chew, I just seem to bend/break things and climb fences. My foster mom gives me free roam of the house (basically because I didn't give her much choice), but I have earned her trust because I am well behaved when she is gone and I get to wait for her without being locked up. Once in a while I am left alone for up to 10 hours and I am a perfect angel. I'm housetrained but I don't bark much so my foster mom is working on how I can communicate with her that I have to go out. Some other things about me: I love dog beds (although I'd also love to be on your comfy furniture if you let me), bones, food (which I currently get a lot of since I'm underweight), head pats and chin scratches. Do I sound like a perfect companion for you? Will you consider being my forever home? If so, please complete an application at southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com or work with your adoption coordinator. I am being fostered near Charlotte, NC. Gunner is good with dogs, children and adults, although it is unknown how he is with cats. He is not food or toy aggressive. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Hi, all! I'm Scooter. I came into rescue with my brother and sister and we were all a hot mess, let me tell you! We were full of parasites, were quite mangy, and really under weight. We've had it pretty rough. But here in rescue we're getting the care we need and are getting better, feeling better too. My tummy doesn't feel so rumbly any more and I'm already gaining good weight. My fur is growing back in too and is so soft, who knew? I'm a pretty young guy and need to be taught all the things any young pup does. But I'm pretty smart so I'm sure I'll learn quickly. I'm learning there are a lot of rules to being a good house dog. Things like;, don't get into the trash, Scooter, and don't chew the shoes, Scooter, and don't chase the cat, Scooter. And my favorite? Dont chew on the cat, Scooter. I mean gees, they're right there! What's a dog to do? But I'm learning and I'm trying really hard. I am already potty trained and my foster mom says that's a HUGE thing. I'm quite trustworthy in that area too. I'm crate trained too. And even though I'm not really fond of it, it's what keeps me safe and out of trouble., (cause I'm really good at finding things to keep myself entertained when left alone. )Again with the rules thing. I can be a little shy when meeting new people but l warm up quickly. I'm learning that not all people are bad. I like kids too, but can be a little mouthy. I get along well with other dogs. I'm learning to play. There's another dog here in my foster home that's trying to show me the ropes. I wouldn't mind having another dog in my new home to help me keep building my confidence. Because I like to chase and get mouthy with the kitties here, it would probably be better if I didnt have them in my new home. The rotten things like getting me in trouble! I'd like a family that will continue to teach me as I grow so I can be the best dog I can be. I'm curently around 57 pounds and even though I may have a little more to go, I don't think I'm going to be real big. Will you be by forever family? If you are interested in making me part of your “pack”, please contact your adoption coordinator. Or if you’re not yet approved and in VA, NC or MD, please complete an adoption application here (be sure to read the FAQ section!): www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Hi everyone, my name is Major! I am a 17-week-old gorgeous boy who is looking for his forever home. For starters, my foster Mom says that my name is very fitting for me because I like to take charge of my 4-legged foster brother and sisters. She refers to me as “THE Major” because I can be quite commanding. I already have a great deal of confidence, alertness and intelligence. Maybe that is why she is always bragging about how smart I am. What can I say? She also jokes that I like to be the center of attention and that I am like a bull in a china shop. We are working on containing my need to jump on people when greeting them but I just can’t help the fact that I get excited to see them. Nevertheless, she really wants you to know that I am a BIG love bug who enjoys lap time and belly rubs. I do well in a crate when it is necessary, but I really prefer to be wherever my people are. Oh, and I am great with children and dogs too! As for cats, I haven’t had any exposure, but I am sure I would do great with them as well. My foster Mom says that I will be the perfect addition to a family that enjoys being active. Although I am a big boy, I still have a lot of growing to do. Do you have the time and love I am looking for? If so, I would love to meet you! If you are interested in making Major part of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you are not yet approved and are in our adoption territory (NC, VA or MD), you can complete an adoption application here: www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com . Major is being fostered in Roanoke,VA. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Max is a 9 month old Purebred Black German Shepherd. He has a great home right now but as he is getting older and larger he is too much for the young kids and older dog to handle. He is a big built shepherd and he is pretty lazy at times but he plays too rough. Max will probably need to be with a submissive female or be an only dog. Older children would be okay but he will knock young ones over. Max is extremely easy to train he knows sit, lay down, stay, and he can play dead. He also loves to give high fives. He doesn't chew his favorite toys up and he is very snack driven. He loves to play fetch but will need to be taught to release the ball. He is a snuggler and likes to lay on his owners legs and keeps his paw on her the whole time. We would prefer that Max has an owner that is familiar with his breed or be willing to take him to training. He needs a fenced yard for potty and playtime. Please go to our website if you would like to meet Max Adoption Donation is $250.

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. Meet Lady Guinevere. We are often baffled by the dogs that end up in rescue. Guinevere was an unclaimed stray in rural Virginia. She is around 6 years old and every bit a Lady. Guinevere is a GREAT size at 52 lbs. She has a beautiful, traditional German Shepherd look and gait, and a medium coat. Guinevere is a little nervous when meeting new people, but quickly warms up and is gentle and friendly. Her nervousness shows in a bit of pacing. Quiet reassurance calms her down. She is good with children, dogs (big and small), and was respectful of the cats in her foster home. Guinevere is doesn't pull while on leash, but needs a little coaching to stay on one side. She is crate trained and has been good in the house, wanting to be wherever people are. She likes toys, and gets quite excited at the prospect of playing. Her needs are few, but the rewards in her company are many. If you are interested in Guinevere contact your adoption coordinator or fill out an application. Guinevere is fostered in Piney River, Virginia. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .
