    Beecher

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Newport Beach, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. 3 year old Beecher is a black and tan male who came to us from a high kill animal shelter. He was labeled “rescue only” because he was so fearful at the shelter. GSROC opted to give him a chance and we have brought him into our safety net. Beecher takes a while to warm up to people, but once he does, he give his entire heart. He would be well suited to someone who wants a dog with protective instincts. Beecher is not suitable for a family with children or with other dogs. He requires a patient, loving person who understands the sensitive nature of German ShepherdsPlease go to our website and complete an adoption application at: http://www.gsroc.org/application.asp. An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation.

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. See Buddy's HomepageGo to our official websiteBuddy is a handsome 8-9 year old male German Shepherd who was relinquished to Animal Control because of his person's health. He is a sweet and lovable guy and very people orientated, especially liking children. He is very picky when chosing a fur buddy so he would be best in a only pet home. A little obedience training would be well worth it to make him an outstanding family pet. Fence required. For a pre-adoption application please e-mail a request to the e-mail address at the bottom. Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Please contact Adoption (coastalgsrsd@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Hi, my name is Duke. It's too bad that I don’t live in England because I'm sure I would have a family to love and protect and a life style that is befitting my name! I joined Rescue almost two years ago and because of my good looks, I was quickly adopted. Unfortunately, the day after I was adopted, my family decided to show me off at this big party with dogs and kids and lots of people. There was so much going on. So many people, so much noise, so much commotion. I was absolutely overwhelmed! When I am overwhelmed, I am not always on my best behavior. I'm sorry but I just can't help it. A few weeks later a nice volunteer took me to her home where I met and got along with other dogs and her daughter. But again there were so many parties and all these “friends” kept coming over the house. Yes, I was overwhelmed. And I thought I had to protect my human mom from all those people who made all that noise. The next thing I know, I was back in the kennel. Again. I am not a puppy. I am not looking for a wild and crazy home! I am an adult dog and I am looking for a nice, quiet family who will give me a chance to be the good dog that I know I can be. I am obedient and quite self confident. I am house broken and I LOVE riding in the car with my humans. You can ask any volunteer or dog in the kennel and they will tell you that I am a very nice dog. All I need is an established family where the humans will respect my space and give me guidance, direction, and mentoring. I am lucky to be invited to the Coastal swim party almost every Friday. I don’t enjoy swimming as much as some of the other dogs but I do enjoy the bone munching session. I was told that I am very pleasant company to both dogs and humans when we are there. So, please check me out! I might not be a duke in British royalty but I am handsome, affectionate, and loyal. Please visit http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Artemis

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Please contact Adoption (coastalgsrsd@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Artemis lost his home when his owner passed away.Artemis joined Rescue many months ago after his human died of cancer and the wife could no longer care for him. He's been living in a foster home so we'd like to tell you about him. In his foster home, there are other dogs and he gets along with everyone. He wants to play and he can be a bit loud, rowdy, and pushy. Of course, in their own way, the other dogs says 'No' and Artemis, in his own way, talks back. Maybe it is how an adolescent dog says, 'Make me!' There are cats in his foster home and he's okay with them. He wants to chase and play but he'll back off when a cat stands up to him. Artemis is good with his basic commands but he does need continuous training and reminders of good doggie manners. He needs a firm but gentle hand and will respond to verbal corrections. He will talk back at times though so the phrase, 'Make me!' does happen from time to time. Artemis will bark at people when they come in the door (unless he is in his crate in which case he'll be quiet). In fact, he does well in a hard crate and his foster mom says he is improving greatly with the wire crate. Did we tell you that he loves Nylabones?? Artemis has epilepsy and experiences grand mal seizures. He currently takes Phenobarbital and other medications may be added as he continues treatment. Treatment does not cure the condition but is aimed to decrease the frequency, severity and duration of the seizures. Artemis may be called a 'special needs' dog but if you are the right family to welcome him into your life, you should know that his foster mom describes him as 'a big love'. Because he has spent time in our kennels as well as the foster home, we should tell you that Artemis has a fan base. One of his weekly dog walkers is a young woman who is currently deployed to serve our country. She regularly sends messages, asking about Artemis, and she is counting the days until her return so she can visit and hug him! Please visit http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Jersey

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Please contact Adoption (coastalgsrsd@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.It is very difficult to know what to do and how to act when you suddenly find yourself in a kennel. There are lots of other dogs whom you don't know, the routine is different from what you were accustomed to, there are lots of people involved in your care, and you don't why you ended up living behind bars. Jersey is trying very hard to adjust to the new routine so she can feel relaxed and safe but it may take a while. Loud noises are especially scary. She's a bit reluctant to be touched, especially in her neck area or on her belly. But after about twenty minutes of spending time with you, she can roll belly up and have fun. Likewise, one of our volunteers brushed her for fifteen or more minutes and Jersey was fine. Suddenly, however, she got up and didn't want the brush anywhere near her. After sitting for a while, she was again happy to be brushed. Jersey is very cute and will make a beautiful dog. Self confidence and trust in the rest of the world - plus receiving lots of love - will go a long way to make Jersey's world a better world for her. At this point, we think she should be in a home without children. We don't know how he would be if there were another dog in the family. June 9, 2012: It's time to tell you where our Jersey Girl spent the most recent Friday afternoon. She was at The Total Dog in Oceanside. Actually her story is part of a longer story which we call the 'tale of two tails'. Jersey lost a large portion of her tail because of what we call “happy tail”. That's when the tail repeatedly hits concrete or stucco. The tip breaks open and it is very difficult to heal. Jersey may not have the big, fluffy tail of most German Shepherd Dogs but she still showed everyone she could swim. Actually, her pool time started off with an unplanned splash as Coach Carol and Jersey literally flew off the deck and through the air and into the water. Jersey had been told by many dogs that swimming was great fun so this came as a big surprise. But after a while, she settled down and enjoyed herself. She’s asked to come back next week. Of course, the wonderful marrow bone that was waiting for her after her swim session was really nice! Please visithttp://www.coastalgsrsd.org/to learn more about our dogs. Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Newport Beach, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Jessie was wandering the streets when a kind animal lover discovered her. No tags, collar or any method of identifying her owner was found. GSROC could not bear the thought of this beautiful girl alone and on her own. She is approximately 3 years old and has a quiet nature. She is quiet and somewhat unsure around strangers right now. Jessie is not sure exactly what has happened to her and she is uncertain. Recently we introduced Jessie to some cats. She let us know in no uncertain terms that she is not a fan of felines! Due to her reaction, we believe she would do best in a home with no small dogs or cats. We are just getting to know Jessie and will update her profile shortly. Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: http://www.gsroc.org/application.asp.
