Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). Winston – Male – Age Pending – GRRALL #0567 Welcome Winston! Winston is another sad case, very similar to our girl Madison, running loose and on his own in rural Oklahoma. He was saved only because a friend of GRRALL was able to collar him and bring him to a local vet; he is now on his way to us here in the DFW area. We do know he is heartworm negative, which is fantastic news. We will get Winston thoroughly checked out and update on his age but so far he appears to be a relatively young boy. Winston needs a foster home, so if you are if you are interested in fostering or adopting from GRRALL please submit an application at grralliance.org/adopt GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Brazos - #05...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Golden Retriever
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: FORT WORTH, TX
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). Brazos – Male – 3 years old – GRRALL #0536 UPDATE: Nov 15 2016: I DESPERATELY NEED A FOSTER OR ADOPTER ASAP!!! Brazos wants to to plead his case for a foster or adopter. In a nutshell, Brazos has been with us since July. He worked with our trainer for a bit and has been in boarding ever since. Brazos has a very high energy level and is a large dog around 80 lbs, so he would need someone who could handle his size. He also has issues with impulse control, but we feel a lot of his behavio ... r is due to being cooped up in boarding for so long. Who wouldn't start to be affected by that? Brazos is around 2 years old and is neutered and ready to go. He needs to go to someone who is active and would exercise him frequently, and has no cats or small children, as he would likely knock them down. He has been iffy with certain dogs. We think he would do ok with another very submissive, calm dog, but it would be even better to find someone without any other dogs. He also should go to someone with a house with a yard (no apartments or condos for this guy). We know this is a long shot, but poor Brazos deserves better than this. He deserves someone who will give him a chance and work with him to help him become a better dog. Could that person be you? If so, please fill out a foster application at https://grralliance.org/applications/foster-application/. If you can't help by fostering or adopting, please share this post to help find Brazos' person. We know he/she is out there somewhere Brazos is a male golden mix, about 3 years old. Brazos is full of life and energy, he is very friendly and loves to run and play. This sweet boy is very smart and just needs an adopter who will be his permanent home, for real this time. Brazos needs a foster home so if you are interested in helping this gorgeous young man on his way to a forever (and ever) home, or are interested in adopting him, please submit an application at www.grralliance.org/adopts GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Bailey #0530...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Golden Retriever
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: FORT WORTH, TX
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). Bailey - Female - 8 years - GRRALL #0530 Update Nov 16, 2016: Our beautiful Bailey is now a "permanent foster" with GRRALL, meaning she will spend the rest of her life in her amazing foster home, with humans she knows and loves, and continue to receive the best medical care possible. Bailey actually gained a pound last week, and we are thankful for such a small thing. Bailey has a good quality of life, is happy, as healthy as she has been in her sad life, friendly, and loving. Bailey is the heart of "Rescue" and here at GRRALL we are eternally grateful to Bailey's foster parents Tricia and Brian, the volunteers, and all the donors who made, and will continue to make, her care possible. We love to see Bailey smile and wag her tail in contentment, and know she is safe and sound and adored by all. Update: 9/22/2016: Bailey is a familiar face to most of you, as she was the subject of our PoundWishes fundraiser last month. For those who aren't familiar with Bailey, here's a quick summary...She is diabetic, and her owners surrendered her because they couldn't financially provide the care she needed. Because of her diabetes, she lost her eyesight quickly and is now completely blind. As you can see from her intake pictures, she was also emaciated and covered in lesions, which had to be remove d. Her veterinary care has exceeded $2,000, plus an additional $100 per month for insulin and prescription dog food. PoundWishes featured Bailey as their "Wish of the Week" and we have met 71% of our $2,500 goal for her. We just found out that she could potentially regain her eyesight with a very expensive eye surgery, which will be around $5,000. We still have more fundraising to do for Bailey, and would very much appreciate your donations for her care on # NTXGivingDay . Bailey is happy and thriving in her foster home and is almost at a healthy weight. We can only hope we raise enough for her surgery and to help this sweet girl regain her sight. Thank you to all who have previously donated to Bailey's fundraiser to those who are presently donating. Your donations truly save lives! ***** We'd like to introduce you to Bailey. Bailey has had a very tough road thus far, and still has a ways to go, but is improving every day. Bailey is about 8 years old. She was surrendered because her family could no longer afford to care for her. She came to us on April 28, 2016, weighing only 37 pounds. She should have weighed 60 to 65 pounds. When we picked her up at the Humane Society, she was too weak to walk and had to be carried to the car. Our vet wasn't sure she would make it through the night. Our wonderful vets and their caring staff members quickly went to work examining Bailey to determine what ailments she might have. It was determined that she is diabetic. It took several weeks to find the correct combination of food and insulin to keep her glucose levels normal. It was also discovered that she had a lesion on her side, which was removed and biopsied. It was determined that the lesion was cancerous, but we are hopeful all the cancer was removed. She has a checkup coming soon to confirm that.Bailey has been with one of our wonderful, dedicated fosters and now weighs 51 pounds. She still has a little more weight to gain, but is eating well and on track to a healthy weight. Bailey is also blind, due to her diabetes. Her foster mom reports that despite all she's been through, she is a happy, loving and beautiful girl. She is house trained and gets along well with most other dogs, and we are unsure how she would do with cats. We also think she would do fine with children who would respect her space and provide a calm, nurturing environment. To date, Bailey's medical costs have exceeded $2,000. In addition, she receives insulin injections twice a day, immediately following her meals, plus she requires a prescription dog food. Her ongoing medical costs come in at about $100 per month for insulin & her RX food. Any amount you can spare to donate to Bailey's care would be much appreciated. Dogs like Bailey are the reason we rescue; we give those who seem helpless a chance to live and experience what a loving home truly feels like. One of our amazing volunteers donated a "halo harness" for Bailey, which is a device worn just above eye-level and acts as a buffer to safeguard a blind dog's head, nose, face and shoulders from bumping into hard surfaces. When the halo taps a hard surface, it sends a signal to the dog, alerting to go in a different direction, similar to a white cane for a blind or visually impaired human. Even more amazing more than one individual offered to fund the halo harness for Bailey, she has protectors now, who will never let her down again. We would like to take a moment to thank you for reading Bailey's story and supporting our organization. We could not function without our donors and volunteers, and dogs like Bailey probably wouldn't be here to tell their stories. #adoptdontshop - See more at: http://poundwishes.com/donate/1041578/bailey#sthash.ZTXKnmts.dpuf If you are interested in adopting Bailey, or any GRRALL dog, please submit an application at www.grralliance.org/adopt GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Mia #0531

    rescue
    Breed: Golden Retriever
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: FORT WORTH, TX
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). Mia - Female - 1 year old - GRRALL #0531 Mia update Nov 3 2016: MIA Update: Mia is a very sweet and affectionate girl and LOVES people. She loves to snuggle and be right by her family's side at all times. She has warmed up to her canine foster sibling over time and seems to enjoy her presence now. They like to run in the yard together and generally get along. However, Mia tends to be grouchy with other dogs, she just doesn't care for strange dogs. . She is also possessive of toys and balls. Mia would probably be great as a companion for another dog but not necessarily a playmate as she doesn’t enjoy sharing. Mia does love people; she is a love bug and likes to get up on the couch and snuggle. Mia needs an experienced and savvy owner to help her be the best dog she can be. Beautiful Mia will make a very loyal and loving companion for some lucky adopter. If you are interested in adopting Mia please submit an application at grralliance.org/adopts *** Update: Mia is making great progress adjusting to her new life of being loved and cared for and her favorite thing in the world is to snuggle on the couch next to her human. She is very affectionate with her humans and loves to give kisses. Mia is a bit intimidated by other dogs and it took her a while to get comfortable with her canine foster sibling; she will probably do best in a quiet house with no other pets. Like all GRRALL dogs, Mia needs a home where she is outside only when supervised, not left alone in the yard, especially since she has a very well-tuned alert mechanism that needs to be carefully managed to ensure no barking at other dogs or scaling the fence like an Olympic athlete. Mia is not the type of girl who would enjoy dog parks or too many new activities or people. Mia is a gorgeous young dog who knows what she wants and what she likes, and is just waiting for her forever family. If you are interested in adopting Mia please submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/ *** Welcome one year old golden mix Mia to GRRALL. This little angel is very loving and adores her foster family. She is learning to play and loves the water. Mia has been very well behaved in the house, especially for a one year old puppy. She is very gentle and once she knows and trusts her people is extremely loyal. Mia is getting along great with her canine foster sister, and just needs her own permanent family to show her what it means to be wanted and cared for. Her foster Mom says she has a beautiful soul and is a wonderful girl who just needs a family to love her. Please submit an application at www.grralliance.org/adopt to foster or adopt Mia or any GRRALL dog GRRALL serves the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). *SANCTUARY VISIT REQUIRED* Mocha Too was born in 2007 and came to us when she was 5 from a shelter in Colorado. She is in good health, but is quite shy. She goes for walks and rides in the car. She goes on outings in a car around the sanctuary and is getting better at it all the time. She has had many sleepovers and makes progress every time. She's good with other dogs, but prefers when people and dogs don't come on to her too strongly.

    Nikka

    rescue
    Breed: Golden Retriever
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Los Angeles, CA
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (medium coat). Age: 11 years…11 you say? Ha! We should all age so gracefully. This is Nikka, a petite redhead with no sugar on her face to give away her years. Little Nikka was relinquished to the shelter by her family so she was a bit anxious with all of the changes in her life. She has since settled in beautifully and has just blossomed. She is as sweet as can be, and very playful. She will greet you at the door with a wiggly body, just soaking up all the love. Once you meet her, you will realize what a gem this girl is. She has some arthritis is her elbows and hips so we have started her on a regimen of NSAIDS and Glucosamine supplements and have already noticed a new bounce in her step. She tries to play with her foster sister who is half her age but the interest is not reciprocated. You can watch their antics on the video. Nikka is pretty much perfect. Good with everyone, and although we do not know if she has lives with cats, we believe she would be fine. She is a cuddler and loves to be rubbed all over. She walks well on leash but her foster pop hasn’t taken her too far; he lets her decide the distance. Nikka has wonderful indoor manners. She does not bark, counter surf or beg, she knows a few commands, will give her paw, and is house trained. She is looking for her forever family that will cherish her for the rest of her years. Is that you? If you think so, please contact cisco.7587@yahoo.com and let us know! All families must have completed the application process to be invited to meet this wonderful senior. cisco.7587@yahoo.com If you have already had a home interview and are interested in meeting, please email at cisco.7587@yahoo.com . To submit your application and have your home interview, go to our website at SCGRRescue.org and click on Adopt Form PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO COVER AND ADOPT OUT TO HOMES IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA.

Posted Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). Miller - Male – 5 years old – GRRALL #563 ** 11/22/2016: Update: Lucky Miller is safe and sound in his foster home tonight, thanks to a loving person who dropped everything to take him into her home as a foster, and right before the holiday. Miller appears to be quite a funny boy, he knows basic commands but his idea of "down" is drop and roll for belly rubs! Handsome Mr. Miller still has to go through heartworm treatment, so unfortunate as preventable, but we will update his progress as he learns how to be an adored member of a family. ** 11/11/2016: Update: Poor Miller can't seem to catch a break! Not too surprising, but our boy is heartworm positive. Miller will now have to go through heartworm treatment, so hard on the dogs and the foster families. We will update the timing for his treatment and recovery and keep everyone posted. Poor baby!!!! Welcome Miller to GRRALL! Miller arrived at the shelter as a stray, his owners were contacted but they no longer wanted him. Thankfully the volunteers at GRRALL did want him, and now he is our boy. Miller is 5 years old, medium sized, and a dark color, with great teeth. He does well on a leash, loves to play, and rides well in a car. We are so happy to have Miller with us, where he will be adored and placed with adopters who will love and care for him forever.
