More About Golden Shepherd Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Molly is just the cutest little pittie. She loves to play ball and is always wiggling. Molly takes a while to warm up to you, but will steal your heart once you get to know her. She's only 3 years old and weighs under 40 pounds. Neutered and up to date. Molly is not for everyone. She is super affectionate to the few that she allows to get close to her. She is very cautious and may be reactive to strangers. She requires a caretaker that will keep her in safe situations.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Teddy is a super sweet 2 year old boy that weighs about 50 pounds. He was found abandoned in a home for 3 weeks! Having to go through such a tragic event, he still loves people and kids. His tail is always wagging when new and familiar people approach him. He's a dog who needs a backyard to be able to sunbathe and play in. He totally enjoys going for walks. He loves any kind of toy you give him and he LOVES playing fetch. He also loves chew bones. Teddy knows sit, paw, and down. He walks good on the leash when he wears a harness. Teddy is super sweet with people, but wants to be the king of the house as far as other animals go, so no dogs or cats for him. Teddy has been examined by a veterinarian and is up-to-date on his vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He is also neutered, microchip, and had a normal health check blood screening. You're guaranteed to fall in love with Teddy the minute you meet him, so if you are interested in adopting (or fostering) him please email Valerie at info@princessbuttercupfoundation.org to schedule a meet and greet.

Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Junior is about 6 years old and weighs 70 pounds. Junior is a very smart dog that can't wait to impress his new adopters with everything he already knows. He knows sit, down, paw, other paw, roll over, and touch. He's a medium energy dog, so he'll need daily exercise and of course, daily cuddle sessions. He is housebroken and loves his crate. He loves Kongs, bones, rope toys, squeaky toys, and stuffed animals. Junior also loves playing in water! Give him a baby pool or give him a lake, and he'll have fun all on his own! Junior is very unsure of new people at first, so he needs someone who will be patient with him in the beginning while he's getting to know you and adjust to your home. Junior is also unsure of dogs, so if his new adopters have a dog he'll require several slow introductions. Junior seems to do better with dogs that are laid back and non-threatening. Junior is a fun-loving dog that can't wait for a family of his own! He gets to hang out at one of our volunteer's houses to get him out of the kennel and she has nothing but great things to say about Junior! Junior is very loyal and a great cuddle bug. Junior has been examined by a veterinarian and is up-to-date on his vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He is also neutered, microchip, and had a normal health check blood screening. Junior has a skin allergy that is being treated with Apoquel. This medication may or may not be something he'll always need to take, but The Princess Buttercup Foundation will help cover this expense in order for him to find a new, good home. If you are interested in adopting (or fostering) him please email Valerie at info@princessbuttercupfoundation.org to schedule a meet and greet.

Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat). ~~Hey there, Tiggs here! I ended up in a tough spot when the shelter I was staying at ran out of space. My buddies at 4 Paws stepped in and busted me outta there! I am a young shepherd mix looking for an active owner who can provide me with lots of play time, and mental and physical exercise. I like to think and run and play with my canine foster sis. I am not even a year old yet, so I need someone who can provide me with the structure and training needed to help me sharpen up my manners. I am a very fast learner, so training should be a breeze! I already know “sit” and am eager to learn much more.
