verifiedPosted Breed: Golden Retriever / Collie / Mixed. Meet Wharf, he is as sweet as he is gorgeous! At 3 years old, Wharf is house trained, crate trained, shows nice house manners, and is very affectionate. Wharf came to us with a badly dislocated hip that required surgical repair. He is on a medical hold while he recovers and rehabs. Wharf will be available for adoption after he is cleared by our vet, probably some time in early May. After he is healed he would like to become part of an active family that will include him in their adventures and continue his training so he can become the best companion. Wharf is a big boy who wants to be your lap dog, just like a favorite teddy bear. He walks well on a leash, especially with an easy walk harness. This sweetheart is fostered with other dogs, older children, some cats, and he does well with all of them! He will sleep quietly in has crate or on his dog bed all night. Wharf will bark to alert you of strangers approaching the house but he does not bark excessively. He is going to make some family very happy. If you are interested in meeting this boy after he has been released for adoption, you would need to fill out an adoption application on our website. The adoption includes the altering of the dog, current vaccinations, and microchipping. For more information on the adoption donation and our adoption process, please visit our website at www.labsandmore.org and click on Adopt. You will find our online adoption application there as well. Once you are approved to adopt, we will discuss how to meet our available dogs. Our dogs are NOT housed at our mailing address. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Thank you for reaching out to rescue a dog in need of hope!

verifiedPosted Breed: Golden Retriever / Collie / Mixed. Ellie, spayed female, 3 years old, 35 Lbs. Hi, I’m Ellie’s foster dad. This is the story of Ellie. Ellie was reported and taken to a high kill shelter. Though she sometimes got bullied by other dogs in the shelter, she was well-behaved and friendly to other dogs. Since Ellie was sweet and lovable, a shelter volunteer was really fond of her and gave her extra care. The volunteer knew Ellie was suffering from derma problem; she frequently took her to an animal hospital for treatments. Unfortunately, the animal shelter had reached its maximum capacity. Ellie was on the list to put to sleep no matter how sweet she was. The volunteer was so sad and hoping someone could rescue Ellie. Thru a friend, the volunteer got my number and called for help. When I met Ellie, I was instantly drawn by her innocent eyes and sweet smile. I claimed her out immediately and took her to an animal hospital for thorough physical checkup. Ellie was diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis. It took her a month to recover. Under intensive medical care and nutritious food, she’s got soft and beautiful fur now with a clean bill of hearth. When Ellie is with my dogs, she is mellow yet playful. She is such a sweetie that likes to be around with people and doggie friends. She might be a little nervous to meet strangers at first time but warms up quickly if she finds them no threat. Give her some time, she will come to you for pets and enjoy lots of cuddles. It’d be great if you can apply her for some training sessions to build up her confidence. Ellie is ready to find a home to call her own. If you are her destined family, please go to www.ahan.org on Ellie’s page for more videos, click and APPLY. I’d love to see Ellie heading for a loving home for the best. Temperaments.
